My folk metal thing fell to pieces, can't say I'm sad. I started getting together with an old friend of mine and we're writing some music getting used to playing with each other and just having a high ol' time.

It's pretty sweet actually. I think the direction we decided to go down is a noise/industrial rock band thing.

We're going to try and make a synthetic drum set out of old pipes and tubes, record some sounds with a mic he has lying around and just have a good time.

.....Not to emntion to trips to the used record store that is nearly eating me out of house and home. So much metal, all the time...

Sounds like fun.

When recording the drums, a condenser mic would help it sound better btw, so if you can try using one of those.

I tried having a noise band once....we had four practices and then we got kicked out of my friends basement where we were practicing. Apparently his parents dont enjoy noise...

Haha, my parents are chill about practice, and his parents are even more chill about it. We were jamming last week, Nate was on his synth and his dad coming running in, and decides to show us what notes would sound even betetr than the ones we were playing already. Haha!

We're going to go buy some voice changers and play around with the effects. SO STOKED!

That sounds awesome. Its always nice to have friends to jam with, I haven't been able to just play in a while.

I've been too focused on getting my bands moving with structured songs and such that there really hasn't been time to just screw around. Hopefully that will come later.

That was one of my biggest problems with my old band. The other member did not have the priorities straight. Got us a show before we had songs, I had enver played with a drummer until we went onstage, ect. There wasn't a lot of "let's just screw around, jam, and laugh" time. And that's some of the best parts about being in a band, to me anyway.

When Nate and I jam we can totally conform to what the other plays, or just start laughing. If I screw up or he screws up, we shrug it off and keep going. It's just a good time. We have some fun ideas, not sure if they will all work, but we're both fans of the same music, and we both like industrial/noise and he plays guitar with a heavy rock prescence, so we figured, "Meh, why not?"

We are really in no rush to record anything. Just going to focus on figuring out riffs, what riffs to use for what song, expanding the riffs into songs, and..... going to either the record store or the military surplus store. And movies, lots of movies.

....I'm starting to dream about zombies because I'm watching so many zombie flicks again.

Dead Snow, is a riot, for anyone who wants to see a Norwegian film about Nazi Zombies. The movie introduced me to a new band, with whom I am deeply and madly in love with. Cyaneed. All girl norwegian pop/punk band. It's like Gaate but more aggressive. mrgreen

With my old band all we did was jam, every time any structure got into the picture everyone would get all pissy. Though, my newest band I'm in it to make it as big as I can unlike I was with my old one so, I suppose thats the best way to go through it. And then theres the other band has too bad of ADD to get anything done...except next week is going to be different.

It sounds like you are just in a 'hang out' band, which is tons of fun. 3nodding

Nate and I have plans for more than hang out, but no sense rushing everything. Right now we're more focused on getting used to each others style and homing in on that.

Get a song or two down, then we'll see about recording some stuff. But, I'm in no hurry. Just enjoy it. No point being in a band if it just isn't fun.

Today was REALLY productive. We crunched out at least two songs down pat. Then we have two more than we are homing. Not to mention, the two military stores we went to.

Check it out, I picked up: a used Hungarian gas mask bag, fingerless gloves, a hat, a medic pouch, and a miners-industrial head light..... all for like friggin $25. And we might go back next week to pick up this hat that matches my jacket.

Big day, now tomorrow I have to work HARD because I played all weekend, haha! A few papaers to start working on. Not enough time!

That sounds great. How long do your practices usually last?

I want to go to that store, it sounds great.

He and I can practice for hours. A couple weeks ago we practiced for 5 hours and then on Saturday we practiced for about 4 and a half.

It is, but it doesn't seem like it is as long as it is. It's just so easy and so much fun. It's like we were made to be in a band together.

We have practice tomorrow! Ugh, I made us a bandspace, created us an intro. Thing are coming along really well. School's almost out so we'll have more time to practice once I'm not investing all my free time into writing worthless papers.
