*Adopting Luc* Eliza Merryman walked quickly to the adoption place. That morning Mr. Jenks had told her that she would need to pick up his new son here. She couldn't believe that he was adopting. He had a hard time with relationships but she assumed he would grow out of it. As smart as Mr. Jenks was she couldn't but to think he couldn't handle raising a child by himself.
She arrived at adoption agency. After searching her bag for the forms Mr. Jenks gave her, she gave it to one of the workers. The worker left and came back with a small boy. He had a huge grin on his face.
"Hewwo are you my new Mommy?" He asked in a sheepish way. Eliza couldn't help but giggle. She was not expecting the boy to be this cute.
"No. I am Mr. Jenks assistant. He is the one who adopted you. My name is Eliza. What is your name?" She asked, kneeling down. He walked over to her.
"Luc. Ezza can we go on walk?" He asked looking at her with his big eyes.
She couldn't say no, but she really didn't want to say yes. Today she was wearing her high heeled shoes, like always. She wasn't expecting to be walking around a lot. After letting out a large sigh she answered, "Yes."
Luc's smile went bigger and he pulled on Eliza's hand, dragging her outside. Once he had led her a couple blocks away he let go of her hand. "I hungry. Feed me."
Eliza looked at the boy. He wasn't smiling anymore and their was an odd deviant look in his eyes. "I guess we can go eat. Where would you like to eat."
"Chinese food." He answered.
Chinese food? There wasn't any Chinese restaurants around. "Sorry Luc, but there aren't any here. Is there something else you would like?"
"No. I want Chinese food." He demanded as he crossed his arms. She pulled out her phone and looked for the closest restaurant. It was about thirty blocks away.
"Alright let's get going."
Luc was glad when she said that. He skipped ahead of her. It was a painful thirty blocks for Eliza, her feet were killing her. The people they walked by all stared at Luc, some pointed and whispered. Eliza really didn't notice how different he looked compared to other kids.
"Hey Mom, why does that boy look so weird?" a young girl asked her mother. Eliza looked at Luc, worried he would get upset. A large grin went on his lips and he walked over to the girl.
"Am I cute?" he asked the girl. The girl's face went bright red.
"Oh yea. You are super cute. Sorry about my comment." she muttered.
"It okay. I think you look weird. Weird, but not cute." he said before skipping off. The girl looked dumbfounded. Eliza quietly followed Luc.
At last they arrived at the restaurant. The restaurant was busy and they were told they would have to wait at least an hour until they would get a table. Eliza informed them that she worked for Mr. Jenks and he would be awfully upset if they had to wait. A table opened up for them. They got a private booth.
"Jenks is important?" Luc asked curiously.
"Yes, he own several important businesses." she answered looking at the menu. Luc did the same.
"Hello what can I get you two?" a waitress asked them.
"I'll have a tea egg and sweet and sour pork." Eliza said handing the waitress the menu.
"Alrighty. How about you little boy. What do you want?"
"I want cheese sandwich and fries." he decided. He handed the waitress the menu. She gave him a coloring book and crayons.
Once the waitress left Eliza cleared her throut. "Luc, why did you want to come here? All you ordered was a cheese sandwich and french fries. We could have gotten that at any resurant."
"Sorry." he muttered. "Do you have ink? I want ink."
All she had was her calligraphy ink. She pulled it out of her purse and handed it to Luc. Suddenly he started to glow, but then the glowing ended. The bottle of ink was gone.
"Wha- What just happened?" Eliza asked.
Luc stared at her, not sure what to say. When they got their meals they ate. Once they were threw Eliza ordered a cab to come pick them up and take them home.

*Welcome to your new home*
The cab arrived at a large mansion. Eliza got out and opened the front door for Luc. "This is your new home Luc, I hope you will like it." The inside of the mansion was beautiful. There was a fountain in the main room. A large staircase led up stairs. On either side were long hallways. "Luc, you get to choose your bedroom. You will be sleeping in the left wing. I will be waiting here for you."
Luc walked to the left wing. The hall way was filled with doors. He walked down it and examined the room. Each room had a different color scheme. Once he got near the end he found a room he liked. It had a large bed, far bigger than any he ever slept in. The comforter was dark purple and black. It had small stars on them. The ceiling was oval shaped and had star like lights. There was a large window with a balcony. He went out on the balcony and saw a garden.
"It's beautiful isn't it?"
Luc turned around and saw a man with combed back black hair. He wore a suit and looked cleanly dressed. His glasses he wore were in square frames. A smile was on his face.
"Who are you?" Luc asked curiously.
"Chris Jenks. I am your new guardian." He answered extending his hand. Cautiously Luc shook it. Chris let go and looked out the window. "That garden is my mother's pride and joy. She loves watching her flowers grow. I hope that you will help her do some planting. She is getting rather old and needs a hand with it."
"Why don't you help her?"
"I am a very busy man Luc. If I had extra time I would help her. Now if you excuse me I need to get back to work. If you need anything please ask Eliza." He started to leave the room, but before he could Luc asked a question.
"Why did you adopt me?"
Chris let out a small laugh. "To be honest I really don't know." Then he left. Luc went over to his bed and laid down so he could see the fake stars. He didn't notice himself falling asleep.
"Luc, Luc wake up." Eliza said as she tapped him on the shoulder. Luc let out a yawn and sat up. It was dark outside. "It is dinner time. Would you like to join Mr.Jenks for dinner?"
"I rather eat in my room." Luc replied. She nodded her head and left. Later she returned with a bowl of macaroni and cheese for him. He gulped it down.
"Well I am glad you like my cooking." She said with a laugh.
"The orphanage Mac and Cheese tasted better." He said bluntly. Eliza felt her temper rising, but she left the room before she yelled at the boy.
He didn't feel bad about what he said, but he did miss Eliza. It wasn't fun being all alone. There were some toys on a shelf in the room, but he didn't feel like playing with them. Next to the toys were a stack of books, most of them little kid books.
Luc could read a little bit, but he wasn't too good. He grabbed a book and slowly began to read it. By the end of the book he fell asleep. Eliza came in to tell him good night. She saw him fast asleep. Carefully she tucked him into bed.
"Good night Luc."

*Luc's First Entry*
I asked Eliza for ink and journal today. I don't wanna talk to her anymore. I want to talk to my journal. I like it here, sorta. It is fun. I have lots of toys. But there is no one to play with. Chris and Eliza are always working and they wouldn't know any good games. Tomorrow I going to look around outside. It is really pretty outside. There is a fountain as big as five elephants out there. I want to go swimming in it. I tell you about it later.

*Small morning adventure*
Luc woke up extra early. Lately Eliza had woken Luc up every morning and he was tired of having her wake him up. This morning he was going to go out and have fun. Eliza had a nanny watch him everyday, not wanting him to wander by himself. Today he wouldn't have a nanny follow him. Today he would go to the garden and explore.
He got changed into his day clothes. Quietly he snuck to the door and peaked outside, looking to see if Eliza was around. She wasn't. Then he left his room. It was quiet outside his room. The only noise was Luc's footsteps. After going threw the maze like mansion he finally reached outside. It was still a bit dark, but there was enough light for Luc to see.
Luc ran to the fountain. It was larger than he had thought. He went and sat on it, putting his feet in the water. His legs swung around in the water. "This is fun! Way better than being inside."
After he was done playing around in the pool Luc walked around the garden. It was beautiful. Some of the flowers he saw he had never seen before. He went over and smelt them. After he smelt them he stared to sneeze.
"Is someone there?" a voice said. Luc looked around. Chris was sitting on a bench. In his lap was a note book and an ink pen in the other. "Luc is that you?"
"Yea." Luc walked over to Chris. "What you doing up?"
"I am writing a novel. I've been working on it for years now. Early morning seems to be the only time I can write." Chris explained. "What about you? Why are you up?"
"I wanted to explore."
Chris smiled weakly. "Why don't you spend the day with my mother. She needs some help in the garden."
"Does she smell funny. Old people smell funny."
Chris laughed. "I'm pretty sure my mother smells like a normal person. Why don't you head to bed and rest. You will need to rest if you are going to be dealing with my mother."
"Alright I go back to the bed." Luc got up and headed back to bed.
