With Demy in the hospital He'd made a few patrols on his own again. He didn't really like it, but he didn't want to bother his Captain, and he wasn't sure he entirely trusted some of the others follow plans HE made rather than ones that came from Linarite.

That was how He found himself perched on top of yet another in a series of roofs with a pair of binoculars taking notes on targets that would be perfect to handle when Scheelite was back on his feet.

Of course with the frequency that people hit Schee in the ribs he was thinking padding might be a worthwhile investment even if they had to take time to arrange it under his uniform.

He put the binoculars down long enough to scratch a note into his book and then peered over the edge pondering.

Maybe he should relocate, honestly he didn't care for the idea of maybe needing to jump down from here, even if it had a great view into certain windows of interest. Shame it put him so far from the fire escape...

His shoulders tensed and then sagged as he sighed in frustration.

God... it could have been a NICE quiet uninterrupted night. It wasn't like he was walking around ripping starseeds out of civilians at the moment, well not YET...and besides Scheelite was taller.
He rolled his eyes and stood and dusted himself off looking frustrated and bored so he could get a look at this "Sailor Lyra"

"Yes... yes I rather think I will." He said obligingly.

"You don't even have to provide an escort." he said with a friendly smile and pocketed his notebook and binoculars carefully so that he could fish out his smoke pellets and Sling shot.

"After all, I have been told not to talk to strangers, your introductions were -very- nice though..."

He should have known he should just stay in the dorm and give Beth a ring to make sure she was ok. But Noooo he had to go out surveying.

"Oh... like your that tall..." He snapped in a moment of frayed temper. Even with the Heels she was just a little over his height. Without them she'd be close or just under he guessed.
"Go back to playing with your dolls, you'll find nothing but smoke and mirrors here."

It vexed him that she wore her hair like his cousin, his eyes narrowed and he scowled at the little bobbles that held back those little pig tails and he launched the smoke pellet without waiting.

He wasn't sure in that moment if he wanted to hit her with it or not, just because she had the AUDACITY to remind him of Beth, but the pellet landed at her feet and he turned as it started hissing to gauge the jump down.

.. Oh for god sake... seriously?!
She had a smoke attack too? He made an irritated sound and paused long enough to call back to her.

"Have fun with the atmosphere up here!" And jumped down, he wasn't going to sit here waiting for the smoke to clear that was just rediculous, besides the winds were unpredictable tonight and for all he knew it'd be back in his face in under a minute if he stayed up there.

He dusted off again and made sure he looked as ordinary as he could and started off down the alley meaning to cut out onto one of the other streets away from where the smoke might be drawing attention. Lord knows with that much someone would probably call 'fire'...

He looked up to snap something back to her question, just in time to see Blue and white and the red-to-orange of her hair streaking towards him far too late to dodge.

She -flattened- him with an explosion of air from his ribs and a vague -pop- feeling that made his eyes water. He'd probably have made more noise about that if she hadn't driven a hip into his solar plexus that he thought he could feel grinding into his SPINE.

He was, fortunatly, over reacting about feeling it on his spine but all the same it was less than a desireable circumstance.

And to make maters worse, she'd half flattened one of his pockets, the small crack sounds that followed were thankfully not more ribs. But the snake-like hiss of part of his arsanel belching forth from his pocket did NOTHING to improve matters.


"God...." he wheezed as soon as he could get enough air and coughed on his own smoke.
"If I could breathe I swear... how much do you -weigh?!"

"Maybe you want to lay off the coke and candy for a while" He snarled through clenched teeth clutching his ribs and skootching further himself and using his shirt neck to try and block some of the smoke he was choking on, s**t what direction had she gone.

"And they were in my POCKET twinkle toes... VERY well done, was that your secret attack? Hippo-butt-landing?"

He cursed again and tried not to bend.... or breathe too deep. GOD he hated ribs... so much. In the back of his mind he half blamed Scheelite, who seemed to be cursed to have them cracked or broken as an eternal state of being.
God this was going to take some explaining...maybe he could just say they were bruised.

A snort, indignant and curt followed by a hiss of pain.
A curt laugh followed. "No... No I take NO consideration in what we do...that's why I was sitting on a roof with Binoculars rather than patrolling the streets for some RANDOM...ow-hell...stranger."

he smirked a little remembering how he'd been pulled in.

"I don't know...why do YOU do it, do you ever stop...and consider if your saving the right people? If the people you save, might be making lives HARDER for some other family? I joined... I had my reasons, one of them was people I wanted to keep safe, how's that for irony.
But I doubt that thought ever crossed your mind... wake up, the worlds not black and white."

He took a calculated risk and headed for the further exit to the alley, careful and quiet as he could.

No... the world wasn't black and white, but he was a dark grey and he could live with that so long as a precious few stayed between light grey and white...

And then there was Dem...Scheelite. His little 'yin-yang' and half of him getting darker by the day...but that was just fine.

He laughed.

"Well... I think you could ask a few of us who say you'll need to try a HELL of a lot harder. Turn your questions around, and ask yourself this, if you had to kill someone, to save another life, or to make that like -livable- what would you do? Would you sit there on the fence? Or would you put on your fancy costume and TRY and find the right side... in the end, history is written by the victor.
Hell...what if someone you -loved- was on what you thought was the wrong side... would you kill them? Or try and keep them safe."

He found the lip of the alley with his fingers.

"Goodnight Sailor Lyra... turn your righteous wrath inward first... you'll find it either blunts it... or sharpens your perspective."
