(( Any of Desire's five children are welcome to post, waking up or coming out of their sac. Otherwise, the focus will be on Sunshine and Lineback since those are the only confirmed foals interested. ))
 It was a very warm early morning. The sun was glimmering into the swamp from over the canopy above. Desire, with her bright golden curls, was staring intently at the space under the tree, hidden behind the roots. There was a little movement, and she was tapping her hooves on the ground. Tap tap tap tap. Tap tap tap tap. Tap tap tap -- ah yes, there was a bright yellow ball of flesh crawling out of that safety of the roots to reach the sound of the tapping.
A lone foal in a bright yellow colour with a small curl on his head. It made out a cry, searching out for his mother that he could not see but he could smell. With eyes closed tight he squirmed and crawled, Desire would not pity it and waited for him until he crawled all by himself and was at her hooves. By her logic, she was not that far from him so it was okay. She needed strong children after all, and foaling them would not help that.
She waited a bit, and it seemed as though this single foal was the only one from her clutch even worth a moment's of breath but then she seen another form squirming around and moving in the ground, crawling out from under the tree roots...

A small break gave and he unfurled himself. Tumbling back, he fell against a warm sticky wall, paused and pushed against his twin. He would wait. But the llull of the sounds and smell compelled him forward. Not sure where, he stumbled, flinging goo in his awkward shuffle. Slightly indicating his blind head back to where the other warm mass was, he gingerly stepped further away.

 There was stirring all around him, so close, so warm, so disrupting. He had just been minding his own business, lazily stretching out his limbs and thinking about making a break for the outside world, when everyone else started shoving. Well, he was about to show them.
He curled himself up until his head pointed toward all the commotion outside, and after a moment he put all of his strength forward and headbutt the sac's wall. An enormous rip tore through the sac and had the little one lurch forward, head over hooves in a dive roll of sorts. He rolled once, twice, and with that second roll he straightened his back legs so that when they came around and hit the ground he stopped in a sitting position. Blind, but wanting to know more, the bulky little foal raised his head and sniffed. There! And that was the direction he headed. Unsteadily, he got to his feet and took slow, careful steps in that direction until the top of his head collided with something hard and yet soft, something that smelt like momma.

The young one had been stirring for sometime now, ever so excited to become part of her surroundings. She wanted to be with her siblings, and most of all her mother and father. With a great push of her head the thin sack split and the slid lightly out. The experience was overwhelming, but everything she hoped it would be.
Her body felt so familiar and yet new as she attempted to stand. Her legs were wobbly, but solid enough that she could remain upwards. With small steps and equally rapid sniffs she made her way forward, trying to take in as much as possible. Her nose then brushed something warm and soft. She was sure it was her mother, for she felt such a warmness inside her heart. She moved closer and nuzzled the warmness fondly.

Desire watched the parade of wobbling and unstable steps from three more foals with pain. This was not looking good, but maybe she was expecting too much from newborns? No. She couldn't be expecting too much. After all, she met them so close she was being easy on them! She had been bumped into and nuzzled as they all finally made their final steps. She duly noted that only four of her five sacs had hatched and made it to her. Could the other have died? No, their genes were strong, it must just be lazy.
Sunshine made a call out to mama, whining deliberately when her attention seemed to sway from him, when her scent took a small shift towards a different but similar scent, his siblings. He was already well onto his way of manipulation, that is, he would be if his mother would care he was whining. At most she'd seen a good attempt at getting what he wanted, but not good enough. That was until the small foal with a cowlick on his head headbutted Lineback as hard as he could. It wasn't that hard, but it was his best. Desire actually laughed. This little girl was so violent, that would not suit a lady at all! The misleading curl on Sunshine's head would have marked the word filly on his head for at least awhile, at least until he grew to be bigger than Desire, but if Desire did one thing right the first thing she did next was nuzzle each foal to check their gender.
Female, male, male, f-- male...
She stared at Sunshine oddly. It was really a good thing the poor foal couldn't see. She would have lingered on this longer but there were three other foals waiting for her seminar. A very important seminar indeed. It would be vital to cause.
First she took a slow step and then slowly laid down, allowing the foals an easy and probably their only chance to get warmth and affection from mama. After all, forming alliances was crucial and this was to be her best. Treat them well and have a mini army willing to do whatever to protect mama? That sounded good.
Her mouth opened and soft words came out.
"First, we talk about power, it's very important to me..."
Implanting. Huh.

Power was a befuddling concept. He understood "me." To demonstrate this he rubbed against the speaker, wet and all. The nuzzle he received earlier knocked him out of his daze. With rapt attention he plopped down, flicking his head to the side sniffing the charged air. Others smelled like him, but not of her. Craning his neck he sniffed around for the others, face delicately smashing into another's neck. He snorted.

Once colliding with momma, he was nuzzled, just once, and could feel her moving to do the same to the others. He took this time to lift his nose in the air and sniff, taking in everyone's scent and memorising it. Afterall, family was important to remember!
When Desire shifted and the settled down on the ground, Lineback was quick to assume his own position lying down between her forelegs and resting his muzzle on top of one of them. With his head tilted back, his nose could just barely graze Desire's neck, which he nuzzled just once and then lay his head back down on top of her foreleg, ears perking up to listen.
To his dismay, one of the others smashed their face into his right ear... and snorted! This caused him to snort in response and shake his head before his lip curled up and he growled softly at the other foal as if to warn him from doing so again.

Effie followed the warmth of her mother as she moved away, not wanting to part just yet. As she lay down she could feel her siblings by her. This made her heart skip a beat from the happiness welling up inside. She nuzzled the others fondly, and waited for her mother to speak again. Her voice was something that Effie quite enjoyed.

The doe stared calmly at her little messes nuzzling around her. They would grow into adults soon, and they would need to be ready. They had to be ready. She could not have unready does and bucks with her blood flooding around the swamp. They would be trained, whether they liked it or not.
Nuzzling each of them so they'd all get the attention they sought, she continued. "It is very important to me, and it will be very important to you too. The swamp is our home, and someday, I will be on top. As my first born, you will all have many duties to uphold to keep it that way. You must know how to deal with others. You must know how to control insubordination -- it is not allowed."
She paused, and went to groom each of her baby's head, cleaning their hornless heads softly. She did each, and when she finally got to Sunshine, the female--male, she had mistaken has female, she noticed he had more fur to clean. She felt like this one was going to be a challenge, he would definitely have to prove himself later. He seemed to be the weakest of her first born, already seeming dainty and frail.
"Stand tall," she said to them, "when others are around. You are better. You must stand tall, even if you're physically challenged.
"Strong loyalties is a must. Always be loyal to your blood."
She noticed, that her first born, fresh out of their sacs, were being lulled to sleep by her words. Her soft implanting, to wash them into dreams and unconscious. Her lessons would be unconsciously with them as they slept, and grew. They would make the perfect army.
Her blood, her loyalties lie at her feet, between her legs. Her loyalties breathed softly, falling into deep slumbers.
