"So, to calculate the amount of interest you'd make, you have to multiple your percentage by..." For the millionth time that morning, Shade felt himself dozing off. He hated school on a regular basis, but math was a subject that he particularly disliked. The boy had a hard time memorizing all the equations, and the fact that it was so boring didn't help either. In fact, the only reason that he /HADN'T/ fallen asleep yet was the fact that Mrs. Johnson would probably call him mother if he did - apparently, the teacher was getting a might bit fed up with him taking naps in the middle of her class. However, Shade was quickly losing the battle to keep his eyes open, and he began drifting off again, his cheek propped up on his hand. The fact that he'd stayed up all night playing W.o.W probably wasn't helping his case either, really - he'd /REALLY/ wanted to get his blood-elf ranger to level 70 before going to bed though! He probably would've gotten even higher if his mother hadn't caught him at about 3:00am and ordered him to bed. Needless to say, she hadn't been too pleased with him.
He was almost completely in dream land when he felt something rock his desk. The impling immediately jolted awake with a slight gasp and looked down with wide eyes - what he saw was even more surprising than the initial shock of being woken up had been. There, peeking out from the space in his desk, was a small, human-like being, whom was no larger than a doll - his spark was gone, and it only took him a few seconds to realize what had happened. 'Oh...crap...'
"Mr. Flereous!" Shade sat up straight, only noticing now that everyone, including the teacher, was staring at him. Apparently, his little desk explosion hadn't gone unnoticed. "What in the world did you just do?!" s**t, s**t, /s**t/, what now?! He couldn't let any of them see Nyx! He had to get out of here and go somewhere safe with it!
"I-I...w-well..." He wracked his brain for an excuse - in the end, he could only come up with one things to do. "I-HAVE-AN-APPOINTMENT-SORRY-BYE!" The boy quickly snatched up his bag, as well as Nyx, before bolting from the classroom, ignoring the yelling and protests that came from Mrs. Johnson as he fled the room. Now what?! He couldn't go walking around outside with Nyx! If someone saw it, they'd freak! Again, he found himself searching his mind for something, /ANYTHING/ to do. It was then that he thought of Verdant - his mother was working today, but perhaps the Nymph could help him!
Now he just needed to find a phone. Recalling that most of the classrooms had one in them in case of emergencies, Shade quickly made his way to a computer lab that he knew was normally deserted and ducked behind a desk at the front. He quickly dialed the number that Verdant had given him and took a deep breath, waiting for him to pick up. "V-Verdant? I-It's me, S-Shade. I...I-I need s-some help..."

"Big Brother, I'm bored. When's our next gig?" Orpheus lay upside-down on the couch, his horns scratching against the cheap carpeting. He'd been like that for over an hour and was desperately missing having something fun to do. It was another day off for him and Verdant, but already the little wyvern was missing Aoi.
"We have a gig at the Hyacinth in three days, Orpheus, so you'll just have to wait it out. I asked Elst for a few days off to practice for it, so maybe you should spend less time complaining and more time practicing our new song." Verdant, unlike Orpheus, was very busy and had quite a few things on his mind. He'd written a new song for them to play, but he hadn't shown anyone but Orpheus, so he had no idea if it was any good; despite his blunt honesty, Orpheus was biased and felt that if they sang it, it'd be great.
Another thing bothering Verdant was the lack of space in his apartment. Even after cleaning every inch of it the day before, he still found it to be very cramped. The drum machine was buried under books and magazines, the guitars had to be stored in the corner next to the phone, and Orpheus had to start bunking with Verdant because he'd outgrown the couch (or so said the wyvern). Two brothers in a small hammock? Very awkward and even more uncomfortable.
Orpheus flipped onto his stomach and stared up at his older brother, who was currently stuffing his CDs into a huge cardboard box. "We... you know, we could ask Dorian for some help with finding a larger apartment. I mean... It has been a while. I miss Marius, it's been forever since we hung out."
Verdant didn't look up from his CDs, but Orpheus could sense the scowl he was not giving him. He looked like he was about to reply when the phone rang. Orpheus sprang up to get it, answering in his usual overly cheerful manner.
"Lindtstrom residence, Orph- Shade?" The smile faded fast and he nudged his brother in the back with his clawed foot. "It's Shade. He says he needs help."
"Ask where he is and tell him we're on our way. Now."

It turned out that Orpheus was the one who picked up the phone rather than Verdant and normally, Shade would've apologized for his mistake. However, he was slightly panicked at the moment, and the only thing on his mind right now was finding a way to get out of the school as quickly as he could. Needless to say, the boy was quite relieved when Orpheus told him that he and Verdant were on their way.
"I-I'm at s-school...in room 109." he told the wyvern as he tried to calm down. "I-It's a c-computer lab." He looked down at the tiny proto sitting in his lap and swallowed a little. "N-Nyx...it emerged from its s-spark while I was in c-class. I-I don't t-think that anyone s-saw though..." He heard a noise out in the hallway and peeked up over the desk that he was hiding behind - he only sat down again when he was sure that no one was going to walk into the lab.
"P-Please hurry...I d-don't know if a-anyone's supposed to come in here today..." Luckily for him, Nyx was currently busy looking around the room curiously; now that he thought about it, the little essentic was probably confused. It probably didn't know what anything was...explanations would have to wait until later though.

Orpheus quickly memorized what room Shade was in, but almost forgot when he heard that Nyx had emerged, which made Orpheus wonder if Nyx would grow to be a boy or a girl, and whether he could think of a lullaby for Nyx, which then led him to wonder what kind of baby blanket he should get for Nyx and-
"Huh? Oh! Okay, we'll be there soon, Shade! Just... stay out of sight for a while! Bye!" Orpheus quickly turned to Verdanty, who was already putting on his boots. "He's in school, room 109. He had to ditch in the middle of class because Nyx emerged."
Verdant raised an eyebrow and frowned. "That's... not good at all. What if someone finds Nyx and it talks or something? I don't think pretending it's a doll would work."
Orpheus nodded, grabbed a pale blue button-up shirt from a box next to the couch and put it on while thinking about how to get Shade out of the school. "I'm just wondering what to do when we get there. We don't exactly look like people who should be hanging around Shade." He pointed a finger towards his horns, then his claws, then jabbed a finger at Verdant's piercings and tattoos.
"We'll say we're family members visiting Shade for the weekend."
"It's the middle of the week."
Verdant got up and threw Orpheus a sweater before heading to the door. "Just come on."
Orpheus walked out the door and rolled his eyes at his older brother. "Fine, but I'm the crazy uncle twice removed."
"Deal."

"A-Alright, I'll be here. B-Bye..." Shade swallowed as he hung up and found himself staring down at the proto in his lap again. It had emerged...finally! The boy had been waiting for weeks - hell, months! Despite being more terrified than anything else, the boy couldn't help but be a little excited as well.
"Where is this?" Shade's ears twitched as the proto spoke for the first time, its voice quiet and soft. It sounded almost like a child, though the impling boy couldn't really say if it sounded more like a boy or a girl.
"This...is a c-classroom. Be q-quiet for now, alright? S-Someone might hear..." He glanced over his shoulder at that moment, wanting to make sure that no one had heard him talking on the phone. He saw no one though, which meant they were safe here for now...
~*~
When Verdant and Orpheus arrived, the secretary at the front desk gave them both a couple of visitor's passes, despite giving them some odd looks. She told them what room that Shade should be in, not knowing that the impling was currently hiding in one of the computer labs. "Make sure he signs out before you leave with him." the woman said dully before returning to the stack of papers that she'd been looking through.

Verdant and Orpheus kindly thanked the secretary, turned around the corner and made a mad dash for room 109. They stopped shortly after when they realized they were SO going the wrong way, backtracked, then went in a different direction.
After making another wrong turn, stopping at a water fountain, then harassing a hall monitor for directions, they finally arrived at room 109. They walked in and found Shade sitting behind the desk... with some tiny little thingy in his hands.
"Is that..."
"... My new sister?!"

Shade's anxiety grew as the minutes ticket by and he couldn't help but feel relieved when Nyx listened to him and stayed quiet. He stiffened when he first heard the door open, but quickly calmed down again when he realized that it was Verdant and Orpheus that had come in.
The boy blinked at the question before looking back down to the currently confused proto in his arms. Sister? Possibly, but Shade still wasn't sure about that...protos weren't supposed to have genders yet, right? Still, the boy lifted his head again and nodded, giving them a somewhat shaky smile.
"Y-Yeah...this is Nyx..." The impling carefully got to his feet, holding the little Essentic carefully. He glanced to the door nervously, still worried that someone would walk in on them. "We should...g-get out of h-here..." Obviously, he was jumpy from the whole ordeal.

Verdant and Orpheus walked over to the impling behind the desk, one curious about the emergence of the new proto, the other worried about how Shade was doing.
"Nyx, see, that just sounds like the kind of name my sister should have- or brother, but we need more girls in this sausagefest of a family." Orpheus waved at Nyx as he looked it over, thinking that Shade would have no problem hiding it from people; Nyx was so small! It could fit in his pocket and probably still be comfortbale!
"Shade, are you alright? Come on, let's go to my apartment, we can talk there." Verdant helped up his little impling off the floor and led him out of the room, letting go of his hand in case that hall monitor came out and saw them. Orpheus followed right behind them, his thoughts still on his new sibling.

Despite his still-nervous state, Shade managed a small laugh at Orpheus' statement. Nyx looked confused by it, however, and tilted its head slightly. "What is a...sausagefest?" The little one's voice sounded rather monotonous at the moment, but that would apparently change over time.
"Y...Y-You'll learn l-later..." Shade nodded a little at Verdant's question; he was okay now that he was getting out of here. "Y-Yeah..." Going back to the nymph's apartment was definitely a relief at this point. He'd be able to calm down there, he was certain of that. "T...T-Thanks for coming to get me..." They'd have to sign out at the office, but he didn't think that would be a problem - the secretary tended to not care about who came into and left the school. Once that had been taken care of, the boy left with Verdant, his racing heart finally calming as they walked. Thank whatever higher power there was that Verdant had come to get him...he didn't know what he would've done otherwise.

Verdant fought the urge to hold Shade's hand as they walked down the street together with Orpheus trailing behind, probably lost in thoughts about how to dress up Nyx. "So, how are you feeling now, Shade? You weren't waiting for us too long, were you?" The nymph looked down at Shade; he hoped he hadn't been waiting too long for them. The poor kid looked pretty freaked, but appeared to be calming down. That was good. Once they got to his apartment they'd be able to talk about Nyx and what to do to keep it from being found. The last thing they needed was someone finding Nyx and raising hell about it.
Orpheus caught up to them and tugged a bit on Shade's shirt and whispered, "Hey, how did Nyx emerge? I mean, I know it emerged in class, but what did it look like? Were there lots of sparks or did it shine and there was Nyx, or, or, or, did it just poof into emergence?"

The boy shook his head at Verdant's question, the previous tension in his body finally starting to drain away. "No, I don't think so. I'm okay now." He'd just needed to get out of that school. Shade didn't know what he would have done if a teacher had been the one to walk in on him and not the nymph and essentic. Now that they were outside of the school, the impling boy carefully took Nyx out of the pocket of his hoodie that he'd been hiding her in so as to carry her in his arms; he probably looked like he was carrying a doll or something, but oh well.
"Um...I don't know, actually." Shade admitted, scratching the back of his head. "The spark was in my desk, but it made a little explosion I think when it came out. That's...why I freaked out so much." He blushed a little in embarrassment. The entire class had been looking at him! The teenager had been lucky that none of his classmates or teacher had seen that little proto! "It scared the heck out of me though..."

"I can imagine! But hey, at least you're out of the school now, no need to fret about it!" Orpheus hooked his arm around Shade's and walked beside him, if only to get a better look at his new sibling without looking like a complete wierdo. It was so teeny-tiny and cute, like a toy or a doll or a marshmallow. Mmmmm, marshmallows...
Verdant walked alongside the others, trailing behind a bit to sneak a glance at Shade's butt every now and then. He'd almost gotten caught by Orpheus twice by the time they arrived at their diminutive apartment complex. The landlady was outside, surely gossiping with the albino woman from the second floor. "Well, we're here! Don't make eye contact with the landlady if you want your taste buds to continue working..."

Shade was fairly calm by the time they reached the apartment complex that Verdant and Orpheus lived in. The boy wisely did as his boyfriend suggested and avoided laying his eyes upon the woman standing outside. "Is her cooking bad or something...?" he whispered; not like he was one to talk. He couldn't even make a pizza pocket without setting something on fire! Surely the woman couldn't be as bad as he was, though that didn't make him want to try whatever Verdant seemed to think tasted so bad.
"So big!" Nyx chirped from where it was nestled in Shade's arms. Everything was so huge compared to it - the people, the buildings, the vehicles...everything! Then again, it wasn't very big to begin with, and could have pulled off the appearance of a doll.
