This is a private role-play between Zhongxian [Kanove] and Ah-Ra [likeLinen]

Setting::
Xian Herbals - A small main street Herbal and Tea shop. Home
to the Guo residence and Zhongxian's main workplace. It is an
unusually breezy and sunny day and the store has opened it
doors for business another day.

The blistering sun reflected off the moistened rocks in the rock garden out a pair of drawn doors. The heat radiated through still air and drew a layer of sweat on every living creature. The Guo household had huddled inside and opened up their shop, unlike many others, on this sweltering day. Many Lunarians scarcely showed themselves in the sunlight; many instead played in the shade or enjoyed the rare company of their family members by visiting buildings in town. Places with cool air.

The Xian Herbal Tea Shop was not a place with an abundance of cool air but with the approaching Warm Season the family had begun serving their cooler teas, often chilled with ice- the only substance which had made their exposure to this heat more bearable.

"Quicker, coo'er!" nagged a tired voice from the shade. The Lunarian who had bowed over the stove and iceboxes more than once today growled under his breath but only retrieved a kettle of cool tea and placed it on the counter.

Although orders had been slow ZhongXian had begun to realize that people were seeing he signs. All that was getting ordered was the cool tea. With the absence of his father and sister from a lack of health and exposure, he was alone with his mother for the greater portion of the day.

She had nagged him the first time after he accidentally spilt a drop, but it was her who was seated in the luxurious shade of the indoors. The stoves and iceboxes rested dangerously close to the garden doors.

Doors which had been drawn in hopes of circulating stove heat. It only felt like it was murdering him. In hopes to keep himself cool the 'cook' dabbed his head with a damp cloth that already had begun to reek of sweat. It was only four turns past morning and it felt like he had been standing and working a days worth.

His leg muscles screamed for a break but he had been forbidden to give in. "Another customer! Mo' tea!" his mother barked.

"Coming right up!" he reassured her of his hearing of her orders before he reached up to a shelf slightly above the stove top. Grabbing a gar of herbs he sprinkled them into a small container before dropping it into the tea. The convection of the heat and the cast-iron making of the pot faster prepared the tea, his only worry was cooling it in enough time. He had to do it all before the tea became bitter.

Which was an art in itself.

Ah-Ra desired tea. Craved it, thirsted for it, yearned for it, needed it; and she knew the cause. According to the words of her dearly beloved mother, Ji-Yeon, Ah-Ra was coming to the age of ripening. That is, Ah-Ra Hwang was ready to be 'picked'. No matter how cleverly her mother tried to disguise her natural mien, a tom-boy, most Noble families knew Ah-Ra as Lunaria's Tom Sawyer; albeit a female version. According to a resolution made by her mother barely seven days ago, that was all going to change. And Ah-Ra would become a woman. Tch. Yeah. And Sue Sylvester would quit taunting Will Schuester's groovy hair. Nevertheless, even this mighty female fell victim to her mother's persuasion. (Unfortunately, doe-eyes were a trait genes chose not to share.) The first step to unlocking a Korean woman's feminine side was not a wardrobe or a new 'do, it was the memorizing and practice of the tea ceremony. Her mother had started to buy dozens of pressed cakes of black tea, pricey porcelain, and even scribes that described the religious and spiritual intentions of a tea ceremony. It triggered headaches, but at least once or twice or day, her mother would present her a satisfied expression. And that'd be enough to carry on another day.

Until this morning, when Ah-Ra's prolific genius concocted a rather strange scene. The hands in the reverie did not belong to her, for the shape was visibly masculine. And those hands made a cup of tea. Not in the indolent, by-the-textbook manner of Ah-Ra Hwang. The way the fingers sprinkled herbs, the way the hand clasped the celadon clay pot; it screamed a worshipping of the art. And somehow, her two lily feet had led her to a tea-house. 'Xian Herbals', the wooden plank read. The female was oblivious to the pulchritudinous weather (If she was paying the slightest bit of attention, she'd have ranted about how the groundhog's shadow had been proved wrong.) nor the Lunarians around her. Ah-Ra stepped in, relishing the indoor shade, sat at whatever seemed appropriate for sitting, and shouted, "Excuse me? I've some questions!"

Wind whistled through creaking door panes as ZhongXian made his path back and forth from the stove. On the stove top sat a kettle of tea made for himself. Since the last part had left only a few chairs remained claimed by preoccupied guests. Guests whom were too into their studies or some form of conversation to acknowledge if anything was needed or wrong with their tea.

Pulling the old pot off the stove top the Lunarian slowly laid it in a bed of ice before closing the containers lid. Now for a moments wait. It was at the moment that he took a breath that his eyes slid across the room and examined the swinging door. His mothers footsteps were heard upstairs but a familiar cry of questioning echoed out of the Tea Room.

Sighing Zhong took it into his own hands to direct his attention to the front room. Bending over the stove he poked the dying flames and straightened up before untying the apron from his neck. As it fell around his waist he crossed the room and pushed open the door.

The sweet smell of city air as well as the smells of black, green, white, and herbal teas all drifted into his nose. It was a sweetened smell which made his analytical face break for a brief moment. His eyes scanned the shop for the customer who had just beckoned him or his mother.

His eyes landed on a carefully dressed and delicate young woman who seemed to possess some traits of "manliness". Producing from his pocket a rag Zhong turned his attention towards the seated girl and moved over to the table side. His knees gave out beneath him and he landed on them softly by the little lady.

"Welcome to Xian Herbals, is there a particular flavor you desire?" he asked. He had long since passed the age of being a waiter. That was his sisters job, the small replica of his father. Smiling at the visitor he bowed his head slightly and looked back at her.

His smile and eyes reflected respect and his posture, although slightly rigid, was formal. It had been a long time since he had helped a customer directly- and having since been in school it had been a delicate idea to even consider. He didn't have the patience or the time for most towns people.

Breathe in, breathe out. Since Ah-Ra Hwang's youth, the Korean Lunarian had harbored an admiration for all things tea; tea ceremonies being the sole exception. The dozens of different categories- ranging from oolong and herbal; along with what people could make with tea leaves. Her personal favorite being the art of tasseography, a divination practice. The smell of this tea-house was particularly nostalgic, but perhaps it was the scent of a Lunarian afternoon. She didn't know.

Ah-Ra slightly gasped as a stranger kneeled besides her. Cocking an eyebrow, Ah-Ra surveyed her new companion. His crimson hair resembled a cross between a newly ignited fire and a blooming rose. He gave off a nonchalant aura, as if he had never truly been able to shatter his walls of savoir-faire. Then again, he was a stranger, and Ah-Ra was notorious was misjudging people. His inquiry however cleared the misconception. She had almost forgotten that she had called anyone over. Although her permanently-smiling lips opened to field the question, the answer was inaudible. She coughed, a rose-tinted blush flushing her whole face, from the jawline to her temples. "What I meant to say was, are you looking for an extra employee?" Woah. No, that had been the polar opposite of her intended response. It was the tea shop's mien that instantly attracted her. It would provide a chance to obtain hands-on experience from a true professional, along with a boost to her confidence. She was sure that the waiter had not dealt with a customer, if that was what she was, like herself before, and slightly regretted saying anything. What's done is done!

Raising stray hands from his side the Lunarian thought silently for a moment before bowing his head to his guest."You ask if we are hiring, we are hiring not for a server- but if you wish to help me in the kitchen I would be glad to teach you the art." the Lunarian offered a friendly smile to Ah-ra

The whisper and singing of hanging door chimes stirred the Lunarian from deep thought. His eyes rolled over the open door and glimpsed cautiously at the passerby. He knew that the tea house wasn't hiring any waitresses, it wasn't right to hire women out of the family. However- hiring a woman to help prepare the tea would only be right and he had a family their house would attract more men.

Turning his attention back to Ah-Ra, Zhong blinked a few times and nodded."Can you work in the kitchen, without complaint- I can train, but you must work hard. Big business, means you stay. Your father must send blessings first though, it is only traditional." he stated. With a quick pull at a stray lace on his sleeve.

Raising his hands he smiled at the other Lunarian and pushed up from his sitting place. "Come with me, if you can make a pot- I may be able to teach you." he pushed the wrinkles out of his outfit and made his way to a curtained doorway. "Come, make sure to close the shop doors- We must have no customers."
