Spenta was exhausted.
He never felt like he could really relax. Thoughts of Angra shrouded his inner serenity in a black shell. Spen was tired of running from his brother, was tired of the fear that welled up in his heart when his brother was near, the burning anger in the back of his throat. It made Spen feel caustic and abrasive in ways he'd never felt before. He truly disliked it. The weight of his sibling was wearing on Spenta this evening, and was evident in the droop of his shoulders and the limpness in his tail.
"Enough for tonight," he murmured to himself, eyes searching for a small bit of cover for him to rest under for the evening. Spotting a low-rising, raggedy bush a short distance away, Spenny slowly padded in its direction. After he woke in the morning, he would search for food before continuing his never-ending quest for solitude.

Aras had been wandering for quite a long time now ...
She couldn't seem to catch anything today. Her mind seemed to be somewhere else, especially after her last meal slipped right through her paws. She had no idea what was wrong with herself today, and why her hunting skills seemed to fail her. Still she was able to make a smile appear on her face, as she tried to think of some positive things. Things such as all of the great people and adventures she'd already had in the rougelands. She could only dream of what lyed ahead of her. "Maybe its time for a little rest," Aras thought quietly to herself. Since deep inside she knew that their was no use wandering anymore tonight.
Her eyes at that moment began to look about the land, for any comfortable resting spot. Some place that would provide slight cover from approaching others or even lions. As she turned a bit more to the left she spotted the perfect place! A bush that was a bit raggedy, though would provide all the cover she needed. Maybe today would go a bit better for her after all she thought as she walked towards the spot. Plus who knew maybe some food would just waltz her way.

Spenta crumbled with a hefty sigh and a plume of dust beneath the scrubby plant he'd discovered. Bone-weary, the lion stretched out his legs and closed his eyes. Dusk was overtaking the land, deep purples and blues tinting the landscape. It was quiet, the silence broken only by the chirps and whirrs of nightlife that surrounded him. Spenta inhaled deeply in search of his brother's scent; the acrid lion was nowhere near.
There was something else, though... an unfamiliar smell. A sweeter scent, a cleaner scent. Spenny lifted his head and peered into the waning sunlight. He caught sight of a dark shape moving towards him. Could it be Angra? Had his twin found a way to mask his unique scent? It couldn't be. Spen roused himself, weariness gone, and prepared himself for his brother's arrival.
Only... the shape moving closer to him was too slight to be that of his brother's hulking physique. "Who is that?" he called warily, ears perked forward at full attention.

As Aras moved closer to the wonderful spot, she noticed something in the distance. The shape seemed close though a bit far away. I wonder if that shape is heading for the same place I am, she wondered to herself. Though she pondered the thought of continuing her journey to the perfect spot, She knew she must tread on. Since otherwise who knew where she'd end up for the night.
"Hello?" she called back slightly surprised by the slight voice she thought she had heard from the shape. Deep inside she also pondered the thought to why anyone could possibly be doing so far out here. Then she thought of herself and realized maybe it was for the same reason, food. The Closer and closer she walked to the spot, her eyes was focused on the light colored spot that was walking in the slight distance. No matter what it was enemy, friend, or food it had sparked her curiosity to the max. An she knew just had to find out who or what it was!

Spenta perked his ears towards the newcomer. It was a lioness, and Spenta cringed at the color of her coat. Red. It reminded him too much of his brother, and Spen found himself being wary of those with similar coat colors. He was becoming quite superstitious where his brother was concerned, and one couldn't be too careful.
"What do you want?" His voice wasn't harsh, merely curious, and Spen was teetering on the defensive. He didn't want to be ungentlemanly, but he didn't want to be completely caught unawares.

Aras tried to not to jump back as she heard the voice. So she breathed out and quickly tried to regain her composer. Once she did, she noticed the lion in front of her. The one in which the voice came out of, had such a beautiful light coat. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before, and she was in awe of it. For her coat was dark and plain with only a simple design to it. His was magical, with swirls and shining alike. It was almost as if he were an angel...
Oh no I haven't answered him back yet,she thought to herself, as she quickly shook her head out of its gaze. "Oh do you mean me? Well I'm just looking for a place to rest for awhile. Since I've not had very good luck with hunting today," she said with curiousity in her tone.

Spenta grunted, watching her with suspicion in his eyes. She didn't appear to be on the offensive, in fact, she seemed quite polite and interested in quite the same thing he was; some rest and relaxation. It was against Spen's nature to chase her off, and even if he'd wanted to it was doubtful he'd be capable of such exertion. He was truly, truly exhausted.
Besides, if she was really as nice as she seemed, perhaps a little companionship in the evening hours wouldn't be such a terrible thing. He cleared his throat, relaxing a bit. "I've found a nice bit of shade here" he offered amicably, "perhaps there is enough room for the two of us here? You're more than welcome to join me."
He arched his back in a slight stretch, adding as an afterthought, "I'm Spenta."

Aras smiled, as her ears quickly perked up with joy at the sound of his words. This lion was appearing to be pretty nice and for that she was glad.
"Oh really? Well that be wonderful if there is!" Aras said with joy. Since a nice shade like place was just what she needed right now. It would allow her to forget the past few not so great hours in her mind. Since a failed hunt was something most lions don't want to remember. Plus it looked like she might have some great company to share it with. For who knew maybe his personality was as dazling as his beautiful coat.
"Oh and thanks," she said with a smile having forgot to say that before. "I'm Aras."

"It's quite nice to meet you, Aras." He was still wary though it had mostly gone for now; he hated that he found it so hard to trust lions and lionesses that reminded him of his brother. Spen hadn't liked how his brother had tainted his outlook on certain things; he would try harder to look past coat colors.
"And you're very welcome," He chuffed in a most friendly manner, enjoying her joyous personality. It was most refreshing.
"What brings you out to this area, Aras?"

"Well I was actually just out in the area hoping to catch something to eat," Aras said with a smile as she lifted her front right paw. "Though lately I've not really been doing so well with hunting. Its almost as if I can't focus at all..." she said with her head hanging a bit. As she slowly remember each prey that slipped through her fingertips. Prey that was Small, medium, large, fast, slow, or non-moving. She just couldn't seem to catch any of them and that in itself was enough to bring down her mood. Since she was a lion and a trained hunter she should be able to at least catch something. "Enough about me though, what brings you out this way?" she said with her voice perking up a bit and curioutiy breming in her eyes.

Perhaps they could rest a bit and he'd help her find some supper. Something small and easy to bring down shouldn't be a problem to find, he thought to himself. "Ahhh, it can be tricky to feed yourself if you are distracted by something weighing on your mind." Spen chuckled softly, closing his eyes for a moment. "As for myself? I'm looking to find a place I can call my own, you know? I don't have a pride and I tend to travel alone, so a place to come home to each night would be nice."
A place far from his brother.

"Tell me about it," Aras said with a slight chuckle. Since once she remembered her failed attempts, she couldn't help but think how silly or rather tricky all her earlier prey were.
"Oh I see well thats a great thing to be looking for," she said with a smile. "I can actually relate a bit to that, since I don't remember my past really at all. No pride, no parents, and no family as far as I can remember really." She stopped for a brief moment to take a breath before contining. "Though when I say that alot of people think its just an excuse and I'm running away from something. Sometimes I wish they were right ... So really at one time or another I was looking for the same thing as you and I guess I kinda still am." A smile came to her face at the last of the words, as she took a seat beside where he stood.

Spenta frowned slightly as she spoke. She didn't remember her past? That must be difficult. Sure, there were times he wished he didn't remember certain aspects of his own history, but not being able to remember ANYTHING? That must really be terrible, at least Spenta thought so.
"How did you end up with no memory of your past, Aras?" It might be a bit of a pushy question, or even one that came out of the blue, but damn if she didn't ignite his curiosity with that little tidbit of information. He felt the strangest urge to protect her -- silly Spenta, could hardly keep himself safe -- but he squelched that as best he could, at least for the moment.
