Kaede has long hair that are up to her knees tied up with black ribbons. She likes to wear kimonos with large flower prints when not in her usual shinigami uniforms.
Personality:
A nice and gentle girl. She is very kind and loves animals. She is very sensitive and hates seeing anyone, human or animal, in pain. She loves nature and being outdoors and enjoys missions to the human world. She loves everything related to earth and nature.
She is very joyful at times and loves to make new friends. Due to her friendly nature, she is very open with her subordinates. She has a very open mind as is very optimistic.
She is ambidextrous. Equally skilled with both hands.
She hates criticism, unwanted and unasked opinions, being rushed, being pushed too hard. She also dislikes cruelty to animals, unnecessary bloodshed and battle, quarreling.
She is slow to anger but when she does get angry, nothing can escape her wrath. She cannot tolerate irresponsibility and undisciplined behavior.
Though she likes fun scenarios, still she would prefer peace and quite most of the time.

When Kaede releases her zanpakuto it tranforms into two elegant fans. The fan are very strong as compared to normal fans. They seem delicate to the opponent making him overconfident and overestimate his chances. The fans have bladed edges that can be quite deadly. Kaede can control and manipulate wind with her zanpakuto.
Shikai ability:
1. She can control the air around her opponent and is able to lift him into the air rendering him unable to use his powers.
2. The fan enlarge allowing her to ride on them.
3. She can use her fan to send strikes of wind which can cut the opponent.
Bankai Name: 'Ride on the waves of the wind: kazeken."
Bankai:
The two fans transform into one large fan with swords serving as edges on both sides. One side of the fan depicts the Sun and the other the Moon.
Bankai ability:
Creates two dragons formed of wind. With the power to destroy at a long range.
A swing of the fan causes a large amount of wind to come out with the ability to blow away buildings.
The huge fan also serves as a shield against physical attacks.

Biography:
Kaede was born in inuzuri, 78th district of the rukongai sector and just like many of the children there, she was also an orphan and didn't know about her parents from the start. As a little girl she was taken in by a young man named Mamoru, who developed a liking for her. Kaede also considered him as her elder brother and looked up to him constantly. He would always be protecting her, taking care of her in all ways. He was very protective of her and never let her out of his sight. Kaede was very proud of him and loved him very much.
Life in Rukongai was very hard and it was very difficult to survive. Mamoru was always afraid that he might not always be there for her. He wanted to secure Kaede's future and the only way he could see was for her to become a shinigami.So he decided to train Kaede enough that she could pass the shinigami entrance test and get into the academy. He thought that even if she didn't get a seated position, at least it would be a better life then then at Inuzuri.
So Mamoru started to train her to the best of his ability. At first, it seemed as a hopeless cause as Kaede didn't seem to have enough spiritual pressure, but as time passed due to Mamoru's and Kaede's own efforts, She began to show her hidden potential. They trained their very best and the next year Kaede was successful enough to pass the entrance exam and enter the shinigami academy.
Kaede came to visit Mamoru every chance she got, to show her elder brother all the achievements she had got. Mamoru was very happy and proud of his little sister. Wishing to see her as a captain one day.
After some years at the shinigami academy, Kaede finally got into the 13 court guard squads and today she is still working hard to achieve the dream and wish her older brother had expressed for her.
