Continued RP from page 1395 Echo began to climb the dunes. The sand wasn't as settled as he thought, and he began to slide backwards. Echo dug his horns deep into the dunes to slow himself, and to hopefully not harm Thaiyo.
"Are you okay?"

Thaiyo grimaced. He had not expected to go on an expedition for this flower. At least, not so far into the desert. He grunted and slid clumsily down the dune. Not in the right direction. Growling, he looked over. "Fine. This is not working."

"Just... wait here, okay?" And with that, Echo was off. He climbed quickly and swiftly through the remaining few dunes. The wind began to pick up and the sand would soon blast his eyes if he remained here much longer. In front of him, however, was the blooming cactus. Not wanting to damage the flower again, used his sharp teeth and horns to decapitate the cactus, and bring back the entire top back to Thaiyo. The pain was substantial, but he had ruined the first one.

Thaiyo watched with deep purple eyes as the one took off. So that was what was different. Wings. Huh. Imagine that. And horns. Now that he paid attention, Echo was different from him very much. He wondered if U'yara would look that way. Sitting down, he tried to keep low as the wind picked up.
If he could get that flower. It would do something for the basket. But just what? Why couldn't he remember? Bleh. Thaiyo waited for Echo to come back. He couldn't have gone so far and he didn't think the other would leave him.

Carrying the cactus in his mouth would hurt too much and take too long to heal. Echo grabbed onto the cactus with this two front paws and began to flap his leathery wings. As quickly as he began, the wing lifted him from underneath and carried him over the dunes.
Slowly, he began to descend and land in front of Thaiyo, dropping the cactus so he may begin to nurse the few pricks he had received.
"What did you need this soo badly for anyway?"

There it was! The flower! It was bright red with a yellow center. The petals were wide and very thin, layered on top of each other with about five different layers. He knew this was it and went to go pick it up. He looked up wildly when questioned.
"Little ones eat it. It is good for them. What it does. Not sure. But U'yara will like it much I think. Thank you."
Carefully, he used his teeth to pull the pricklies out and spat them away from them both. The plant released some water which he lapped up. Mmm.. Good. Yum.

"U'yara? Uh... who's that?" Echo looked around, having seen no one who had accompanied Thaiyo. Now that he thought about it, Echo hadn't seen another Shakaiyo in a long time.
"Are you... ya know... crazy or something?" Echo took a few steps back so that he would not be able to catch the crazy. "It must be the heat. There's no one else around..."
Echo collapsed on the hot bed of sand and rolled about.

Thaiyo scoffed at the younger Shakaiyo. He had started to walk away but this one was even stranger than he was and so... He shook his head and carefully put the flower down. "From the mountains. Look north. See? There. I walked here. U'yara is the little one I care for."
He pulled his upper lip back and growled a little when the other one mentioned being or something... Maybe he was an or something. Funny looking male. "You are from here and I am from there. Not or something."

"Uh... Okay. Well, let's go then huh?" Echo began walking in the direction that Thaiyo had hinted at before. "I wanna see this... U'yara that you talk about."
Echo flapped his wings and was ready to leave the ground. He quickly realized that Thaiyo would have to walk the way himself and decided to remain on the ground.

Much better. Maybe this one could be taught. It would be nice to talk to someone who was smart like he was and Thaiyo thought himself rather clever. Merely nodding, he began to plod in the direction back towards the mountains. The desert was not easy for him to traverse in but he had to do it.
For an hour or so they walked in silence until the sand started to give way to small pebbles and actual ground. "You live in the sands only?"
