I've heard mixed reviews about this software. Has anyone tried it who would like to comment? I hear that it's confusing because they don't tell you what they're teaching you. That would drive me crazy! But, I already know some (Spanish) so I'd start at a higher level. The japanese one I don't think I'd do well at. I'vebeen using other sources.... It's so expensive too! But the US government uses it.... so.... it must be good, right?

So~ my parents got me Rosetta Stone and it SUCKS for learning a new language if you have no background what-so-ever. They don't tell you what the picture you are learning is. So, it could be a picture of a kid, sitting on a clowns lap and crying but you have no idea that you are supposed to be learning how to say "Stripped Shirt".
Once you have some background in the language, it starts becoming more of a useful tool - just for the repetitive vocab. Still, for the money it is not worth it. I would recommend [Language] Coach for the DS. If you have a DS it is only $30, and is a more productive program for learning a language. It sure beats hundreds of dollars, ne?

Yama, I've heard that complaint before. They swear up and down that they're the best program out there, but just learning the words doesn't make sense. Especially if you have no idea what they actually mean!
I've been curious to try some of the language learning games because it would be nice to know a second language, but I don't want to spend the money on them unless I know that I'll actually be learning and stick with it. It's really the sticking with it that would be a problem for me.

I've seen the commercial, it seems like a good program. My Dad was gonna buy the Spnaish version, but once he heard the price, he was like HELL NO! lol lol

Lol yeah, I see a lot of advertisements for it in magazines. It's always the same though. xD "he was a farm hand. She was an italian super model. he had only one way to impress her..." lol so silly.

Rosetta Stone... I heard of it. I heard it was a good program for learning languages. Then one day, I was looking around in Fry's Electronics and saw the box for Rosetta Stone, looked at the price and holy Lord did my eyes turn even bigger than this --> eek

$400+!!!! WHAT.

When I came back home, I went online and downloaded Genki ebooks. FOR FREE. Lol.

I've tried Rosetta Stone. I like...if I wanted to only learn to speak. I was trying the Japanese one...and for some reason it never really taught me how to read or write. But I can say the girl is drinking water. It's pretty awesome...

If I only wanted to tell people the girl is drinking water.
