Momo was out and about today, escaping from her normal "home" of the Mizuka'nyevu to stretch out her wings a bit. The dense, lush forest always made it a little hard to get some exercise, and so she would wander the rogue lands, sometimes for a day at a time before returning home.

This had been one of those days. The goddess hummed to herself, walking slowly as she admired the world around her. Usually it looked the same, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. It was like greeting an old friend, one you knew would always be there for you.

She always wondered what it would be like, if the landscape really did change...but there's no way it would, it had been like this for a long time, as the goddess herself had been around for quite some time.

Eiszapfen paced nervously back and forth across the same twenty feet he'd been treading since early morning, muttering to himself and shaking his head as he tried to put his thoughts in order. It had only been a few months since his fall from the tree had rattled his brain and given him clarity, but he still couldn't see it all clearly. Bits and pieces kept sliding around in his mind, and most of it just didn't make sense. But he had to make it make sense, or the whole world would be in peril. That much he knew perfectly.

Sighing, he stared out at the horizon, but didn't see any black and white stripes on the horizon. Darn it, five days and not a single zebra. How was he supposed to convince zebras to mate with wildebeest if he didn't have any zebra? How was he supposed to convince them at all? Maybe threatening would work. He'd have to practice his angry face. Provided he ever found any of the stupid herbivores.

Momo's attention was drawn to a constant moving figure in the distance. She narrowed her eyes, but couldn't quite see just what was making him pace like that. Was something wrong? Was he in distress? Momo's overwhelming fascination with mortals compelled her to investigate, and so she followed her instincts.

As she grew closer and the from grew with clarity, she still couldn't quite see what was distressing him. It must be something within, not without. She paused, wondering if he was contemplating something deep. Debating within her own mind, she decided that it couldn't hurt to interrupt him, if only for a moment.

"Hello?" she called. "Are you alright?"

Startled, Eiszapfen whipped around at the voice, stumbling over his feet as he backed away hurriedly. A voice from the ether! Was it a sign? Wait, no, it was just a lioness that had snuck up on him while he was too busy concentrating on his own head. Relieved, he grinned at her awwardly. He didn't know if he could take any more unnatural occurances.

Unfortunately, that seemed to be exactly what he had here, and he soon noticed that what he was looking at wasn't exactly a lion. The wings were a dead giveaway, for starters. His grin slipped, and he sighed heavily. Great, just great, more prophecies and mystical occurances to lead him on his way towards the end times. Why him? Well, maybe she was here to help him sort out his visions. "Hail, er, great being from beyond the... place," he greeted her. "Are you here a sign of the oncoming Apocalypse?"

Momo blinked, unsure as how to take his answer. For once, no one had ever spoken to her like that. And for another...well, she was actually still stuck on the first part.

"A...pocalyse?" she repeated, her head cocked to the side as she glanced at him. "I was..." What should she say? He seemed to be of a different sort of mortal, one she had never encountered before. "I was just passing through, actually, and your pacing caught my eye." Another pause, remembering his mentioning of 'the end'. Of course, nothing really was alright if the end was nigh, but she had never thought about it.

His mentioning of 'place' did make her giggle a bit, though. If only because she rarely went to the Haven, though of course he wouldn't know that.

Cocking his head, Eiszapfen tried to size up the winged lion before him. Through some error in his raising he had never heard of Gods before, but this didn't seem to be a Sign either, otherwise it would be shouting predictions about fire from the skies and dead forests and all that bizarreness. Was there another option in between? Maybe some lions just happened to have wings.

"Oh, well," he fumbled for something to say. "...I suppose I should warn you then that the Apocalypse is coming. That's where the world ends and a lot of big calamities happen. Like, the mountains crumble, stuff like that." He found himself peering curiously at her feathers, and wondered if her pride had interbred with birds. "...So, yeah, world ending. Maybe the next few years."

Momo tilted her head to the side, amused that he was still going on about this. And then she thought...was he a Seer? Gods weren't granted these powers, and so talk of the future sometimes made them uneasy. There was only one aspect that did make her uneasy, though, and she had to ask him about it. As simple-minded as she could be sometimes.

"Does that mean when the world ends, Love does too?" If there was no Love, than she would cease to exist. "I don't think I would like that option, but..." If there was nothing to be done.... She watched him glance at her, and she stretched a wing out, as if making it easier for him to look.

"Um..." Eiszapfen wrestled with his head to figure out her line of reasoning. Usually people asked him how he knew about the Apocalypse, and then he had to explain about the monkey, and then they got that look on their faces, and it only got worse and worse as he kept talking. But up until now, no one had asked about love. And it hadn't really crossed his mind. Fire and destruction tended to take priority in his thoughts.

"Well, some things will survive, but what survives depends strongly on what is done before the Apocalypse arrives. There's this chain of events, see, and I've got to... well, I'm not sure on all the details, but there's something about visiting blue ice mountains, and an empty sea, and making zebras and wildebeest interbreed. But... yeah, love would probably survive. I mean, assuming at least two lions survived and they liked each other." He trailed off, unsure of what else to say.

Momo didn't think she liked what she heard. He biggest worry was something about surviving. That usually meant death. She felt her body slump, the sorrow of the idea of so many mortals dying...and with them, maybe some immortals if there was no one around to believe in them anymore. It would be a sad day indeed.

He said very curious things, and Momo fought through her temporary sadness to ask a bit more. "Interbreeding? Would that save something, somehow?" She tilted her head. "Do you See this happening in the future? This..." she swayed her paws around, not sure what to say. "This downfall?" He must be a Seer to know so much about it!

"Well, uhm..." he bounced on his legs, his social anxiety cropping up as he tried not to sound like a raving lunatic. "Not so much See as hear. There was this great booming voice, and a splitting headache." Her wording clued him in to her thought process, and he shook a paw hastily. "I think I know what you mean by See. I've heard of people who can see past and future stuff. I don't think I'm one of those. It only happened the one time, it's not a frequent occurrence or anything."

But he stopped when he noticed how sad she looked, and felt a twinge of guilt. Had he really caused her distress? Not that the end of all things wasn't distressing, it's just that his audience didn't usually get distressed... then he realized it, and his jaw dropped from shock. "You... you believe me!" He struggled to keep from breaking down from relief. "You really believe me? No one's every believed me before! I don't even believe me!"

She watched him carefully, wondering if he really knew what she meant. She had sometimes heard of Seeing happening once, or rarely; it wasn't really something controlled. Still, the voice part was a little weird...

And with his sudden outburst she froze, blinking at him in shock. Was it really that...shocking? "Well, I don't see why you'd like," Momo giggled. "I mean, you seem so convinced yourself, at least when you talk about it, surely there's some truth in it!" Though, she did have to admit the interbreeding was interesting. Prey beasts weren't really that smart, and if he really wanted to do that, well, good luck.

Back on the subject, she added on, "Anything is possible here." She stretched out her wings as a bit of proof on that. "I don't exist unless people believe in love. So if there's enough belief in it, it may happen."

He shrugged, trying to convey his exasperation with his own predicament. "From the revelations I had, I know what the truth is, but I have to admit it sounds ludicrous when explained out loud. But I just know that I have to fulfill all the prophecies before the Apocalypse arrives, otherwise... well... Bad Things will happen." He waved a paw vaguely to emphasize the Bad Things, though he wasn't entirely sure what they'd be. Less things surviving, probably.

"On the subject, since you're so agreeable, you wouldn't happen to know anything about blue ice mountains or empty seas, would you? I suppose with the wings you might be good at traveling farther than the average lion..." Something was nagging at the back of his head, something she'd said. "I'm sorry, wait, did you say you exist because people believe in love?" He tried to wrap his head around this, but even tilting it far to one side didn't help. "You have a conditional existence?"

She tilted her head, curious. "I don't know anythin about empty seas," she said. "I haven't seen anything, but I don't really go out towards the ocean too often. Unless they mean a really large lake, but even then I haven't seen or heard of anything." And if a sea was suddenly empty, she might hear something about it from one of the water-based gods...

Momo tilted her head, still surprised and humored by his questions. This was why she loved spending time with mortals so much! "Well, something has to fuel our powers," she replied with a nod. "Otherwise we might waste ourselves to death if we're not careful on how much power we use."

He filed away the info about the ocean for the moment. Maybe the seas were supposed to become empty later, he didn't know. It was all so confusing. But his mind fixed on trying to unravel what this winged lady was telling him. Powers? Love? Some sort of cult behavior, maybe. He'd heard of prides with some unusual traditions. Sacrifice, that sort of thing. He'd hate to think anyone would lose their life over an abstract like love, though.

Then again, he'd never been in love, so he couldn't measure its worth. He was far too busy with his own agenda. But he filed that away as well. Maybe if he survived, and a lioness survived, he might try his hand at courting. "Well, keep an eye out for empty seas, that's how you'll know the end times are upon us," he warned. "And stay away from wetlands, they're dangerous. I'm not sure why, but they are. But if you'll excuse me, I need to continue my quest now. Surely someone out there has seen something about blue ice mountains."

Awww. Did she do something wrong? Maybe, maybe not. Momo didn't want to put him on the spot and ask, so she merely nodded instead. He didn't quite realize, or well, care about the power of gods. She didn't mind, but she hoped in his "quest" that he wouldn't run into gods of a more evil persuasion. It would be sad if something happened to him.

"I'll seek you out if I hear anything about the oceans," she promised, hoping that would seal up any oopsies she had said. She knew she could be a little excited at times, especially since he had mentioned that he wasn't sure if he totally believed himself!
