This Friday is my senior prom and my fiance and I haven't had the money to buy those corsage flower things, so I decided to make our own. Problem, I don't know how to make them I don't even know where to begin... I know I will need artificial flowers, but how will I go and make a corsage out of it... Any Ideas? I'll post pics when I have the finished product.
My dress is red with silver sparkles and My Fiance is wearing a red shirt, his black cowboy hat, blue wranglers, and black boots. We are Rednecks. =D

I just love this post----"We are Rednecks."
The girls here don't usually wear the corsages, the flowers that you pin to your dress----they wear wristlets, which are basically the same thing on an elastic "bracelet."
You choose the flowers that you think would make a nice little cluster, cut the stems short for your little arrangement, wrap the stems with floral tape, in position, then add a length of elastic. The guys' boutonniere is usually just a single flower with a sprig of greenery, taped together, then pinned to the suit jacket???? Don't know that THAT would be too appropriate for him-----
One of my daughters just ran out of time for flowers one year, ran to Walmart, and they whipped out a terrific-looking set for her in just a few minutes, for less than $10. Real flowers.
I'd really like to hear what you decide to do about flowers for him! Wish I could see you. Sounds like you'll be a pretty sharp-looking pair!

I think I'm going to use red roses, and some tiny white flowers of some sort, maybe I could use some decorative leaves as well. Maybe I and put some ribbons on the bracelet and my date can just have a rose pinned on him, Herm... I don't think he would like ribbons on him though XD I wonder what I can fix. I'm going to go through Wal-Mart tomorrow. I don't want to use real flowers because I want to make something that's going to last, and I think that if I make it myself it will have more meaning behind it.

Wonder if you could make something tiny for his hatband? Just some cedar or sage or something with a tiny rose in the middle? Long and thin, and tiny, to look good on his hat. Or is he "hands off" about his hat?

He isn't that touchy about his hat, I'm the only one allowed to mess with it though. I wear it a lot when I go to my friends ranch. I cant find a hat to fit my head right. No one carries 7 & 1/2's any more.
I think I'm going to get a rose and cut the stem short and wrap it up in a ribbon I made today, it's red with a see-through red polka-dot ribbon glued on top of it. then I'm going to put it in his hat band. It's gonna look so pretty! And I got myself a white and silver poofy bow, it made out of organic cotton =) and I'm going to glue one of the ribbons I made behind it to make it a bracelet and I'm going to have three roses and some of the rose leaves on it too. I cant really explain it all that well, but I'll post pics of it this weekend. =)
I also saw some pre-made corsages at the store and they were like thirty bucks!!! eek So making mine from scratch all I had to spend was, Eight bucks for the roses. Two bucks for the bow A dollar for my ribbons Total was eleven bucks, I saved a ton of money. ^_^
