I did some yard sale surfing last weekend and ended up with two great finds.
One was at an estate sale where they had over 100 books, a ton of them classics or modern library volume (I <3 modern library) so I came away with a box of books and 3 bookshelves for a pittance.
The second was at a smaller yard sale. I asked them if they had any books they'd like to sell and they came out with three bins. In those bins was a copy of Loomis' Figure Drawing for All It's Worth.
This is a book that's been long out of print but is still highly sought after by students of illustration. It's really nice, and worth a good 40 bucks.
I came away with that and a pile of other books for about $7.

oh you are so speaking my language!
i am hopeless around used books; this one place will give you one book for every 2 you bring in so i always go there figuring i'll at least come back with fewer volumes
and i never do!
because i buy more while i am there, which those devious souls know i will do!
