My ideas are rather Eclectic with this. I believe that in the end you are judged by how you lived your life. Not by the amount of your sins but how good or bad a person you were. I do believe in reincarnation and ghost. I don't buy the whole death is a skeleton in a black robe idea. Actually, I had a resident in the retirement home I work at say that she saw an abnormally tall woman in a black dress, embroidered with flowers in her room. She died that same night. So, I am now inclined to think that death may be a woman, that may be feminist but it is an interesting idea.

I've seen it. I died once and actually left my body. I saw everything fuzzy but sharper all at once. You process everything different. It's kind of hard to explain. It feels like you're entire being is free. You don't feel the weight of mortal coils. It feels surreal and all at the same time you're free. You're home.
It's hard to explain but once you go. You don't want to come back. You will find, if it wasn't for loved ones and family. You wouldn't go back to earth.
Alternately some people die and find a hell waiting for them. So, bottom line. Don't be a d**k.

I'm agnostic regarding what happens when one dies.
Basically how I understand what my tradition teaches. The closer in line you are with Agape the more likely you are to not get "stuck" here as a ghost or trapped in the cycle of transmigration. One eventually becomes free and can move to where there's eternal life and from there move however they wish, either back here or where ever they wish that's beyond this world.

I don't rightly know... I have some ideas though, involving harmony, reincarnation, and the final and free resting place.

I watched my grandfather's soul leave his body. I wasn't expecting it, because he'd passed not thirty minutes earlier. I remember running down the hall to the emergency room and past the family--I just knew he was gone, but when I got there, his soul was holding on.
He just sat right up from exactly where he lay, and leaped into the ceiling without looking back. In that moment, I saw so much of the world beyond because of my empathy.
I personally didn't see a heaven or hell--but it could have been blocked from me, and he felt no remorse, no loss or fear. He didn't care about where he was from, and had no memory. He just went into the ceiling and that was that. I waited, stared, just in case he came back or I saw it again, but nothing happened afterwards.
The air was so thick because of the energy and there were people there and a lifeless body on a bed, but no one else saw it. You'd think people would see a mildly transparent being swooping past their line of sight. Best to keep some of those things quiet, though, out of respect.
On topic: I believe in the soul's ability to come back into the next body, to learn from the past and move forward until the final incarnation is received and my mentor believes there's a gate to Nirvana at the end of the line. I'm not sure what I believe, because the line seems never ending. We'll just say I've been coming back for a long time and I'm not ready yet.

i think the best way to summarize my views on life and death is something i wrote on facebook a few days ago.
"life is a journey without a destination.the point of this journey is for you to realize that you're already where you wanted to be in the first place and just didn't realize it."
if we focus too much on the end of this journey(death) then we miss the point of the journey all together. because the thing is we arent starting on earth and ending up in the afterworld. we started there, came here, and then we go back. so if you took a trip to disneyland, then went back home, would you only focus on the arriving at home part? no because then you'd miss the point fo the trip which was to get the opportunity to punch mickey mouse in the face. jk jk sorry i wanted to add a little humor to a really serious topic.

Afterlife for me is something that has to do with reincarnation. Cause I believe we come from a central area, have no idea where that is. But once we come upon the universe and have our lives here, we go through the cycle. Maybe even go through smaller types of what others call reincarnation, such as heaven. And keep on going until we hit a point, the enlightenment. smile Then we go back, it always different for us all, I think it has to do with our divine spark too. I know it's a bit out there, but seems to be right for me. smile
