It was just a quick patrol. Yes, just a quick check, Libra told herself.

It had been implied heavily that they not patrol by themselves during the last Zodiac meeting, but Libra had replayed the conversation in her mind time and time again, and never did the princess nor the captain expressly forbid them to go out alone. The most peculiar thing was, she preferred to go out in pairs. It was simply good tactic, to have someone to work with, to cover her. There were strength in numbers.

It had been a while since her last patrol, longer than she'd like to admit. Between school work and trying to work with everyone's schedules, she often found herself sitting out instead of venturing out alone. It didn't sit well with Giselle. She was a soldier, after all, and she was beginning to miss the rush of power and thrall of a certain sense of freedom that came with taking up Libra's identity.

Heels clicking against the pavement as she descended from a rooftop, the senshi surveyed the area briefly, streetlights humming and flickering overhead. Having spotted no trouble on her quick run, perhaps it was time to return home. There was a gnawing sensation in the back of her mind Libra couldn't quite put her finger on, but the longer she bounced from rooftop to rooftop, the more vigorous the sensation became. With one final glance, Libra rested her scales against her shoulder and quickly calculated the quickest route back to her room. After all, one could never review too many times for an exam.

His encounter with the blonde, busty senshi had certainly given the Captain something to ponder over during his nightly skulks about Destiny City, and he'd be lying if he said it hadn't made things at least a little entertaining. Lately, Obsidian felt restricted by the team he'd been put in charge of--and knew that he needed to organize them all together soon so they could start implementing some much needed skill-building.

They were gonna need that, and a hell of a lot of luck if they wanted to take down Kunzite.

It took him aback for a moment when he spotted the young woman with what was clearly a weapon slung over her shoulders, and the elaborate get-up really only pointed to one conclusion. "You look cold." Obsidian called out wisely, from his perch on the apartment building across the street, unarmed and seemingly harmless, save for the corruption Giselle could undoubtedly sense. His eyes ran up and down the striped stockings and the short skirt that barely covered even half the length of her thighs, and it wouldn't be long before he'd silently stepped off the roof to land on the sidewalk.

On equal footing now, the Captain straightened, gazing across the street at what had to be a senshi. "So? Name and war cry, please." He prompted with a faint grin, rolling his shoulders a little. Despite his bruises, Obsidian was looking for a fight.

How had she not noticed him sooner?

Biting back a hiss, the Zodiac soldier shifted her scales and glanced over her shoulder, watching the man descend from the building in complete silence. Giselle licked her lips and turned around, certainly not trusting her back to the redhead. She could feel it, even before he opened his mouth and confirmed all suspicious about his identity.

"Aren't you polite?" she sniffed, one eyebrow perched well above the other and bordering her hairline as she swung one of the scales back and forth by her side. Libra was not sure what she thought of this one; he hadn't attacked her from behind when he had the advantage and here he stood, waiting for name and her challenge. What sort of Negaverse agent was he, anyways? "I am Sailor Libra," she replied, having the audacity to look a little bored, "and I will tip the balance of power!" Oh, it didn't really matter, but it did.

Clearly unimpressed with Obsidian's complete lack of tactic thus far, Sailor Libra gave the redhead a once over as she moved in, heels clicking on the sidewalk. He was certainly nothing to write home about. He was a punk, looking to pick a fight. It was shame he had no idea who he was about to tangle with. There was no doubt the zodiac soldier could handle this one on her own.

Swinging her scale with more ambition, she closed the distance between herself and the redhead. "Shall we?" Despite warnings and implications against fighting solo, Libra was accepting the challenge.

"Mama taught me my manners, ma'am." Obsidian responded dutifully, but his brows hiked upward when she introduced herself. "Ohh, a Zodiac." AS though that explained everything, and he appraised her as she began to approach. He was starting to chuckle, despite himself, and shifted into a more appropriate stance. "Sure, sweetheart, sure. Let's get this over with."

He pulled the massive broadsword from the negaspace where it rested, balancing it carefully on his plated shoulder with a grin ticking at his lips. "Sure you can move in those heels? Wouldn't want you to slip, break an ankle or something."

The silence played between them a little more, and he flexed his arms as though mentally calculating the range his sword had compared to her current position. His body tense, prepared to launch, and--

--"Oh, by the way. Let's hope you give me a better fight than Sagittarius did."

And with that, he lunged.

If Giselle was looking to be impressed, the enormous weapon pulled from nowhere certainly did the trick. Negaverse agents who swung jump ropes got strung up on flagpoles. Negaverse agents who hefted around swords that probably weighed more than she did without batting an eye? Libra took her warnings where she could.

"I'm touched," she sneered, "really. I am." As though breaking an ankle was the worst of her problems. "But I would be more worried about yourself. I am afraid I didn't catch your name?"

But the blond wasn't given much time, the sword-wielding redhead allowing silence to fall between them. He settled and all Libra could think of was a cat, wriggling and baring its claws and-

"No."

Little more than a whisper, and Obsidian was on top of her. She had only faltered for one moment, one little moment. Libra shot backwards, the sword grazing her arm as she swung one of her scales at the man's kneecap. Blood dribbled down her arm as she bounced back, attempting a quick regroup before swinging at Obsidian again. If he was the one who killed Sagittarius...

"No one else will be lost to the likes of you."

Clearly, it was on.

First blood was his, and his face momentarily lit up in an expression of deep satisfaction, though it wouldn't be long before he clumsily lifted a forearm to block the scales. They smashed mostly into his wrist, earning a grunt from him, but he only shook the limb out as though to better wave off the pain.

"And you were so friendly before you found out that little tidbit," He all but chided her, circling closer and ducking when she aimed another blow at his face. They tested each other for a moment, neither one willing to put themselves out in the open and take an unnecessary hit. Where his weapon was more likely to inflict a fatality, he didn't trust the weight of those scales.

Still, something had to give.

Deciding to hell with caution, Obsidian rushed her again, not even bothering with Shitcakes this time so he could see if he couldn't hook her right in the jaw with a well-placed fist. It left him vulnerable, open to retaliation, but if he could wear her down quickly and outlast her... Well, maybe he'd bring up the score and leave another dead Zodiac in his wake.

"I still haven't gotten your name," she replied, scowling as the redhead dodged her blows. Libra barely registered quick change in tactics, not able to duck quickly enough to avoid the knuckles. Her head rolled back, the dull slap of flesh on flesh as she swung her scales, one for his face and one for his knees. Surely the agent couldn't dodge both. Perhaps he had the advantage with a sword, but her scales could inflict a fair amount of damage when she swung hard enough.

Reeling backwards, the Zodiac spit out a mouthful of blood as her vision swam, having bitten her tongue when she took the blow. Blue eyes narrow, Libra decided to flip the tables. She had enough playing on the defensive. Swinging her scales as she surged forward again, she let one end go in an attempt to lasso the Captain around the ankles.

Something caught and she tugged, not having checked if she'd actually tangled Obsidian or only brushed against him. There was no time for second thoughts.

"Do you know how to walk on your knees?"

"You mean you didn't see what I carved in the body?" He was tutting her again, instinctively jerking his head back to avoid the scales. Of course, that meant his knee was sacrificed, and it almost immediately buckled when the weight bashed just underneath the cap. Swallowing back a choked curse, it wouldn't be long until his feet were almost yanked out from underneath him.

He landed hard on his already hurt knee, gritting his teeth before, at her words, he used his free foot to surge forward and slam his elbow into her gut. If she didn't fall over from the force and the angle, she'd at least stagger, and his blade hit the ground so he could better perform the manuever.

"You're the woman, shouldn't that be a question I'm asking you?" He still managed, struggling to get to his feet so she didn't have the chance to use that advantage against him.

Libra gasped and stumbled back, line going slack as she fought to catch her breath. "And yet, you are the one who cannot find his way off the ground," she hissed between rattling gasps, a hand clutching her side instinctually, her lungs refusing to hold air. She might have lost whatever advantage she'd had, but the senshi refused to allow this agent to intimidate her. Even if he had-

There would be time to consider that later.

"Didn't your mother raise you better?" she snapped, taking another few steps back as Obsidian hauled himself upright. "Or do I need to make up a name for you?" She hadn't seen the body, didn't want to see the body. What Libra did need was his name, a name to remember and to keep.

"Libra Power Equilibrium!" she roared, the size of her voice completely out of character. The Zodiac was strong, but the agent kept bouncing back and if she did not convince him to back down...well, he was a known killer.

With no time to waste, the blond launched and swung both scales again, going for his head and his other kneecap this time. Perhaps with Obsidian's speed lowered to her own, he might sustain more damage.

Her response was little more than a wheezing, gritty chuckle, but he'd gotten the bit between his teeth and was refusing to relinquish this bit of information he had. Why not dangle it over her head, infuriate her a little longer? "Sure, sure, all in good time--it's still carved in him, you know, it didn't go away. Take a trip down to your friendly, neighborhood morgue!"

He lunged again, but she had something new up her sleeve, and with the roar of her words, it was like his very body chose to buckle and shrivel upon itself. He wasn't unable to function, per say, but something was off. It was her turn to dash forward, and his body moved slower than it should have, like his strength had been sapped and eaten away.

Little did he know that, in a sense, it had.

The scale clocked him hard in the temple and the captain saw stars for a moment, staggering heavily while his world spun. He fought the urge to vomit for a moment, shaking his head even though his eye was practically throbbing. The other scale nicked his knee with a sharp scrape of pain, but failed to fully bash it, and the man did the first thing that came to mind. He reached out to snatch that ridiculous bow stapled to her front with one hand, and smashed the other as hard as he could into her jaw. Even then, it was wrong, it was off, and he knew he hadn't hit her with his full strength even though he'd put all his force into that blow.

His fingers tightened before he aimed another punch at her face, apparently entirely all right with a full out brawl on the streets. He was dizzy though, vision still swimming, and the next punch went wild and only barely kissed her ear.

This, he realized as another wave of nausea threatened to take him, could get tricky.

If she hadn't been so angry, Libra might have actually laughed when the scale struck the man's head like a gong. It would appear the stronger the opponent was, the harder they fell when the Zodiac equalized the playing field. Before she had any time to further consider the consequence of her attack, Obsidian had her by the front (Libra would later deny the scandalized gasp) and was crushing his knuckles against her jaw. She could not bite back the surprised noise completely, gasping as she saw white.

With barely enough time to recuperate, Libra barely registered his second swing had only brushed the side of her head. Oh. Oh. Her minute had almost run out and the captain's strength would soon be returning in full.

With a startling sense of urgency, the Zodiac shifting and slammed her knee upwards, not above a crotch shot if it meant the redhead would let go of her. She brought her head forward simultaneously, cracking their foreheads together (and immediately regretted that decision) before stumbling back, Obsidian's grip loosed enough for the blond to toddle backwards.

Libra glanced around wildly, taking a few more shaky steps backwards. Her time had probably run out by now. Seeing stars and still fighting to catch her breath, the Zodiac was beginning to consider the benefits of a retreat.

They struggled for a moment together, wrestling, tussling--he even snapped at her face with a queasy sounding laugh--until the well-aimed knee had his grip slackening. She'd pull away then, not before bashing their skulls together and sealing her escape.

The captain forced himself to inhale, trying to clear his throbbing head so he could focus on what the hell he needed to do to bring this b***h down. Miraculously, the answer came to him in a way he didn't expect; Libra would undoubtedly notice that he straightened with surprise as his stolen strength suddenly returned to him again. His fingers twitched for a moment, evaluating himself, before his eyes flickered to her face and locked on.

No words left his lips, but his expression said it all, a hint of malice and excitement glinting in his eyes. 'Your move, princess.' His knee was still twinging, and threatened to buckle when he lunged at her, fingers held like claws as they scraped against her chest. Another attempt at a grab, a miss, and though he was stumbling, Obsidian kept coming after the high-and-mighty Zodiac.

Even though she was still dizzy, the soldier noticed the minute curl of Obsidian's fingers, the sickening glimmer in his eyes before the redhead launched like a lion to his prey. Libra couldn't react quickly enough, but it seemed like her luck was holding out, the Negaverse agent only swiping at her. With nothing in her reserves, it was all the Zodiac could do to keep the captain from capturing her again.

Finally, she stumbled just out of grasp.

"This isn't over."

Hefting her scales, Libra looked as though she was about to hurl them at Obsidian again when she turned on her heel and began to ran. Already out of breath and in more pain than she'd care to admit, the blond could only hope her head start would keep her opponent from catching her in one of the dark alleys. She had no desire to end up like Sagittarius, she would not be like Sagittarius. As much as she would have liked to bring down the Negaverse captain on her own, she didn't want to die. When all else fails, retreat is an acceptable strategy.

Trying to rationalize the stupendous show of cowardice, Libra ducked behind a dumpster cloaked in shadow, already formulating her plan for the next time she met this man as she waited to see if Obsidian had pursued her this far.
