Nerit was a generally good natured lioness, she spent most, if not all, of her time doing her duties for the pride and with her free time spent every second fawning over her grandchildren. She had two fully grown litters, one of which was the first ever cub born in their new home land.

All of that being said, the chocolate colored lioness was not a morning animal, not in the least. She trudged grumpily in the early morning light. If lions could walk on their back legs she would most certainly have her front legs stretched out in zombie fashion. She would never out right lash out at another lion in the morning, but that's mostly because her upbringing- one must respect their superiors, and she wasn't looking to be scolded this morning.

Trudging along a slow feline yawn escaped her, Nerit was certain that the request for an errand or task to be done would come soon-- or at least conversation and she wouldn't have to feel as if she was wasting her time getting up so early.

Upenzi was worried. Oh, oh, what was she going to do? She had always known that being a host was going to be her job, and while she felt like she was doing a well-enough job, there were times where she wasn't exactly sure on what she should do, or need.

And sometimes, well, it was a little fun to put on a more fancy party, even if it wasn't really necessary.

"Oh, what am I going to do?" she fretted. She didn't know anything about what she needed, and hoped that she could find someone to help her out. She had a couple other things to do, and she was a lioness that always liked to be prepared. One never always knew when another lion would be admitted into their ranks, and a welcoming was always needed, the hostess always ready on a moment's notice!

The purple and grey lioness caught the slave's eye. That's..the hostess, Nerit scrambled to think of the female's name..it was something like Unyezi, her mate's name. Nerit wasn't always great with names, who was she kidding, she was never great with names, not even good. The lioness felt foolish, adding to her already sour demeanor, she couldn't recall someone so important's name!

Nerit had never needed this hostess, she was the one who ushered her children into their classes and if her children were ever to marry she would be there as well.

"Good morning, Hostess," Nerit felt the words coming out of her mouth even felt foreign, she should be addressing the lioness by title and rank.

"Oh!" Upenzi jumped, as though she forgot that she had been speaking aloud. Actually, she hadn't even really realized that anyone else was around, with how fervently she was feeling.

"Oh," she said again, realizing that it was one of the slaves. The...the one that Unyezi had stepped down to be with. SHe felt odd for a moment, if only because she remembered how kind he was to her, to train her in what she needed to know. And then...we was gone. Still attainable to talk to, but the situation had changed enough that it unsettled Unyezi. Still...not enough to really affect her socially. It was a personal feeling, as was his a personal choice. She really had no right to say anything about it.

"Good morning!" she replied brightly, one of those rare souls that could function well in the morning or late night. Sleep was optional sometimes. "You're Nerit, right? I remember Unyezi, is he doing well?" she asked carefully.

Nerit winced noticing that she must have startled the Hostess. She resisted wincing again at the bubbly mood the other lioness appeared to be in.

"Yes, I am Nerit," sometimes it felt odd admitting that, what with the drama that enveloped her romantic relationship. It wasn't every day that a king gave up his rank just for you, and it wasn't everyday that he had children from the previous marriage that inherited the thrown.

"Unyezi is doing very well," Nerit bobbed her head, "How are you this morning? Can I help you with anything?"

She smiled, happy to hear that he was well. At least he was happy with his decision...she started thinking about her own possibility of choices, but the question of help triggered her mind again.

Oh no! How could she nearly forget what she had been worrying about all morning? Obviously there were heavier things hiding in Upenzi's mind. That wouldn't do any good, and she would have to try to figure out a way to get rid of those superficial worries; they were going to interrupt her job way too much if she was going to let herself get that distracted.

"Actually, I could use your help!" she chirped, probably quite annoying to the lioness that wasn't a fan of the morning. "I need to find some good flowers, and, well, I just don't know where to look. Do you?"

Nerit thought for a moment about suggesting stealing from the shaman's garden, the brown lioness was not at all fond of her former traveling companion.

"I think I might know the perfect spot to look," Nerit considered the small patch she walked by just a few days before, "They were just starting to bloom last time I saw them. Maybe they will be what you're looking for."

"What are they for, if you do not mind my asking?" Nerit bobbed her head happy to help.
