They were gone.
She'd run off to tell Selene, gone off to deliver her report over the aliens and the large killer Tree from Mars or wherever it had spawned from (most likely Mars - it was just as brash and bitchy as Ares tended to be, so it all made sense in Aphrodite's mind). The talk of a Moon Princess had forced her to return and investigate - could it be the same Moon Princess that had stolen her Queen's crystal?
She'd delivered her message and returned to the scene of the crime. Nehelenia was due to follow, but Aphrodite hadn't been able to wait for her. She needed to see what was going on, needed to determine whether or not this was worth it, as the last thing she intended to do was endanger her monarch's life over some weed from Hell.
But nothing was there. The Tree was in pieces, scattered across the park. Blood-stained grass patches dotted the ground around it, but no bodies were to be found. Hours ago, this area was filled with fighting and arguing... now it was silent. Deadly silent.
Her ankle circlets clinked as she stepped forward, crouching down as one hand moved out to touch a particularly interesting segment of bark. It was almost as if acid had been used, eating into the skin of the tree.... did the Lunar senshi have powers like this, at their disposal?
It was a disturbing thought, especially if they did indeed share the same Princess that had brought Nehelenia back to this world. A piece of bark snapped off and she moved to study the closest patch of blood, the grass dark with crimson.
Cursing under her breath, she could only imagine what had taken place after she left. What the hell had happened?

They were gone.
The Captain wondered how exactly the senshi had managed to free themselves of their sacrificial barrier, and assumed it must have worn off some time after their forces had retreated. A damn shame, really, but he knew that there'd have been no way in hell he could have taken on so many senshi at one time. Picking off scragglers would have been another story.
Obsidian prowled closer to the scene of the crime, and it was clear that he was not the first to investigate the remains. She was crouched, whoever she was, and he could sense she was not one of his and not one of theirs.
What a predicament.
His shoulders rolled unconsciously, and he knew it'd likely only be a matter of seconds before she'd sense his corruption. That was fine. Hey, maybe she'd stay and play.
"That was me." He'd note idly when she moved to investigate the bloodied grass, his tongue toying with his teeth. "Skewered him through the gut. Painless, really. You know, after he died."
Working at the Carwash was hummed under his breath even as he started to approach. He didn't seem threatening, perhaps focused on the mess he'd left. "Damn." He said, rubbing his jaw with a hand. "Bleed more than you'd think they would, aliens. Gushy little ********."

"I see."
If the senshi had been surprised, the only giveaway was the slight jerk of her head at the sound of the newcomer's voice. Though her soul resided in a new body, the Captain's training remained intact. Never let your guard down. Never let the enemy know you've been caught unaware.
Golden eyes glanced over and fell upon the redhead as he made his approach in her direction. He didn't look like any senshi she'd ever seen before - could he be a cavalier of this Earth's court? The aura was dark around him, negative energy that seemed to exude from every pore. The other senshi she'd encountered had never felt like this... but then again, she'd never encountered their evil Moon Princess, either.
She suppressed the urge to scrunch up her nose at his description of 'gushy little ********'. There was no formality to his words, no introduction. Only the obvious sense of pride over having defeated what Aphrodite could only assume had been a mutual enemy to them both. Too much pride, in fact, over having skewered something else. Then again, perhaps Hector or Ares would have boasted of the same thing. Gaia, would have, surely.
"I wouldn't know how they bleed, I don't exactly make a habit of encountering aliens when I go to the park. I take it you felt the energy then, too?"
One hand on her knee, she pushed herself up to stand, then brushed off her palm on the side of her skirt. "Captain Aphrodite. I assume you're part of the Moon or Earth clans, if you took part in destroying the aliens and the Tree?"
She paused to rethink her words. "The Tree is dead, right?"

And what was this? The newcomer was evaluating him as though she'd never seen a negaverser before, and, in fact, was continuing to hold a conversation that some would even go as far to describe it as civil. It was a new concept for the Captain, one he was taking in stride, and he inclined his head a little as though to acknowledge her words.
"Hard to miss it. Guessing that's what drew a pretty thing like you out here by yourself, huh?" Captain Aphrodite... Not a Zodiac, so what, then? Had the senshi finally started to incorporate captains into their rankings? He didn't know, and kept things casual so far, his interested piqued when she mentioned Moon and Earth.
The man mulled over his words for a moment, still thinking. If Moon meant the senshi... Well, what did Earth stand for? Surely not the Negaverse--they weren't any clan that he knew of. Then again, would it really be beyond the higher-ups to keep secrets? Hell no.
"Don't think it could die anymore, sweetheart. It split itself like that all of a sudden," An arm gestured to the silent wood, "And we helped decimate it some more to make sure there was no way it could resurrect itself."
This was new. Interesting. He'd met senshi before that didn't know what he was, but someone of her strength and ranking? It just seemed off. She knew things, clearly, so why not milk her for information while he had the chance? "Not too fond of it and its ilk, are you?" Obsidian inquired lightly, lips playing up in an amused smile.
