Balios galloped across the field, his brown and tan spotted coat shining in the bright sun. He felt like he could run forever, with the wind in his mane and the grass at his hoofs. Could life be any better than this, he did not think so. He smelt the water before he saw it but slowed down so that he could stop at the river and drink. A good long cool drink was always good after a hard run; once he was full he started watching the fishes swimming through the water and decides to see if he could talk to one. He put his mouth down into the water and began speaking but all he ended up doing was choking on the water he sucked in. He shook his head to free his throat of the water.

As the day began anew so did the bright spirits of everything beneath the sun. A little mare no bigger then a growing foal trotted happily along the grasses feeling the tickling of the blades along her legs. She laughed in spite of herself knowing summer would be even more beautiful but knowing spring was always first was a beautiful treat.
As she moved along in her happiness she noted a brown usdia stallion drinking from the stream. The little mare smiled to herself since it was rare to meet others of such small stature as herself. So she figured why not start an introduction.
Trotting over she cleared her throat and spoke, " Hello there" she said with a bright eyed personality. She generally was shy most of the time but she was hoping to make a new friend today.
Balios turned when he heard someone say Hello there, and standing there was a beautiful smiling mare. He smiled back, cleared his throat and said “Hello, beautiful day isn’t it.” He hoped he did not sound as nervous as he was feeling. “I was out for a run.” He moved away from the shore in case she was just there was a cool drink.
