Austin nibbled on some grass near the treeline next to his home, his ears perking at noises from within the forest. The sun shone high in the sky, with fluffy clouds promising rain and a spring storm.
Austin's thoughts were on his family and some of the friends he had met throughout his life. He hadn't seen anyone in a while, and hoped to perhaps go visit with some of them soon.
Thunder rumbled in the distance, giving warning to any out on the meadow to find shelter soon. A rabbit ran by him towards the trees, diving into a bush. His eyes lingered after the rabbit, catching a glimpse of something green near the edge of the forest.

Rain, a welcomed thought. The days had begun to grow longer...and hotter. A nice summer rain would cool the ground and the air. While it was a nice thought, Tequila wasn't too sure of how she felt about being stuck with no shelter. As the thunder rolled across the sky, she quickened her pace to a steady trot, heading into the forest. She knew there were several abandoned caves in the foothills of the mountains. Maybe she could make it there before the rain started to fall.

Austin thought he heard footfalls coming from within the forrest. Feeling curious, he ventured into the trees, not knowing what he'd find.
He picked his way through the underbrush, his hooves barely making any noise over the dirt floor. He sniffed the air, hoping to catch the scent of what he thought he'd seen.

Teq stopped as the wind brought her the scent of a stranger. Her head shot up and her ears were alert as she scanned the area.
Not far from her location, she could see a blue mass heading her way. It didn't seem to be stalking or violent in it's movements, she hoped she didn't judge this creature wrong.
"Hello?" she called out, "Who's there?" she waited patiently for an answer

He heard a voice calling out a greeting. A voice that seemed somewhat familiar.
He made his way closer to the voice, catching more glimpses of what looked like a bright green creature.
"Hello... My name is Austin. No need to be afraid." he ventured, hoping that he didn't scare off whoever or whatever it was who had spoken.
He continued towards the voice until he broke through the foilage to come face to face with a bright green and yellow striped mare.
"Tequili?" he asked, knowing of only one Soquili who bared such a bright and vibrant coat, but hadn't seen since childhood.

"Austin!" a smile broke onto her face, "You scared me!" she laughed and nuzzled her friend's neck. "What are you doing in this area, I didn't think you ventured far from your lands?"
Teq had been out exploring, perhaps Austin had been doing the same. "Haven't seen you in ages, it seems. What have you been up to?" Her ears perked to listen to him. She had missed her foal hood friend. They had romped and played together many days in the past.

He just stared at her for a few seconds, a sight for sore eyes. Thinking he might seem a bit rude by staring, he cleared his throat and replied.
"I thought I recognized that bright green coat. Wow, it is so nice to see you! It has been a long time. I think the last time I saw you was when I was just growing into my legs." he paused a second. "You've grown up nicely, into a majestic beauty on four hooves."
He paused again, and recalled her questions. "To answer your first question, I have been exploring some, off on new and exciting adventures." he chuckled. "And most importantly, searching the lands for the most beautiful mares." He winked at her, with a smile.
"And in reply to your second question, I have mostly been exploring. I don't want to bore you with my past though, how have you been? Where has your journey led you?"

She continued to look over the stallion, he had grown nicely into his body, and boy, he was a smooth talker! She gave him a coy smile and laughed lightly, "Now Austin, I didn't imagine you growing up to be the charmer," she nudged him and nodded for him to join her in walking. She had been on her way to her secret orchard. "You didn't turn out so badly yourself," she nipped playfully at his braided mane.
"I've been well, exploring here and there. I've found some of the most fascinating fruits you've ever experienced!" she had learned the secrets of fermented fruits, they had become her favorite daily snack. "You have to come try them, they are...They're just great." she didn't want to give away the secret of how they made her feel.

"Me? A charmer? Nooooo." he nudged her back. "You know I always could get away with almost anything. All it took was a big smile at Mom." he laughed, recalling some of their foalhood play dates where he would get into big trouble. His mom never could resist him, so it was natural that he had developed that charm into something to help him with the ladies.
He held his head a little higher at her compliment. "And did you doubt I would? With excellent genes, and the right pampering, of course I grew up handsomely." he crooned, with a laugh.
"You know, I am kind of hungry. I'd love some fruit. Now, where are these scrumptious delights you speak of?" he asked, while walking beside her, letting her lead the way.

"They're in my secret garden you could say," she laughed and continued walking.
"I remember that smile," she stopped and posed giving her best impression of him, "Your mother never could keep an angry face as soon as flashed that smile at her. No wonder you're so good with the ladies."
She looked over him again, as if examining him. "Excellent genes and a whole lot of luck!" she said playfully.
"Come on, almost there"

"A secret garden you say? That's interesting. But it won't be a secret anymore will it?" he said, "Maybe it can be a secret between old friends." He smiled with a little chuckle.
"Nice impression!" he said, laughing at her interpretation. "Yes, I guess I didn't turn out too bad."
"Lead the way mademoiselle. That's a bit of French I picked up from another stallion I met once."
He couldn't help but smile. It was great to be around an old friend, and it seemed like they hadn't missed a beat in all the years they'd been apart.

She laughed and offered him a michevious smile, "Oh, it will still be a secret..."
She didn't expect for him to remember much, much less how to find the orchard again once the effects of the fruits wore off. "French?" Her head tilted a bit, "Is that another land?" she had never heard of the word before.
As they continued, the forest began to thin just a bit. In the distance there were trees that bear various fruits, Tequila turned to Austin and smiled. "Here we are!" she trotted over tot he first tree, an apple tree. Instead of plucking one from the branches she sniffed around at the fallen fruits finding just the 'perfect' one for her old friend.
"Here you go..." she nosed it over to him, "They're a little...strong..."

"Erm.. I think it's another land." he replied to her question, "though, the stallion might have just made it up. Though, I like the sound of it." He chuckled lightly, remembering that same stallion from a few years past.
He didn't give her "it will still be a secret" much thought, simply passing it off as a joke. He marvelled at the various types of fruit trees, and all the different fruit. His mouth watered just thinking about them, but he didn't want to seem rude, and waited for an invitation to eat.
When she offered him one of the fruit that had fallen on the ground, he seemed just a bit concerned as to why she didn't offer one from the branches. Minding his manners and being the gentleman that he was, he bent his head to the offered fruit, and took a bite.
Immediately he could tell it wasn't any ordinary apple. It had the flavor of an apple, but with a bit more flavor to it than just an apple. It also had an odd smell to it. It was definitely interesting. He took another bite, and soon had eaten the entire thing.
Austin's head started to feel a little funny, with a bit of fuzziness around the edges of his vision. "Ssoo, Teq, what'sss sssupposssed to be s-so ssspecial about theeese applesss.." he asked the mare.
((Not sure how many apples it would take to get him "drunk" so I'm going slow with one apple giving him slurred speech and a bit of fuzziness.))

Tequila just stood back and watched her long time friend as he indulged in his first taste of the fermented fruits. She laughed as he began to slur just a bit after the juices began to kick in to his system.
"Oh, you'll know...." she laughed and ate an apple herself. Her body a little more use to the effects, she was able to keep her speech steady. "Would you care for another?" she sniffed around the apples on the ground, looking for another perfect morsel.
"We'll try the other fruits next," she smiled and began to roll another apple his way.

These apples were wonderful, even if for some reason they made him talk funny, and his head fuzzy. He took the second offered fruit, and ate it quicker than the first.
He stepped forward towards Teq, going to ask her something, but when he lifted his leg, he swayed a bit and had to move quickly to regain his balance.
"Ooopssss," he said, his words a little more slurred than before. "I lossst my balansss there." he said, and started to giggle.
He shook his head, his long braid flying through the air, and flopping across his eyes. "Ahh! " he exlaimed, temporarily confused, thinking the world had gone dark. "Ohh... wait..." he chuckled, "it'sss jusst mah hairr." He shook his head again, and the hair fell back in place.
He gave a loud hiccup, and again, tried to step towards Tequila, this time managing not to lose balance so much. "Whhhot's the matter whith theeese applesss? Thhey're may-kin my hhhead feel funny." he asked her, with a very confused look on his face. He looked up at her, his eyes meeting hers. "You know, you're really pretty, Tequila. And your eyesss...sssuch a llovely color." he said without pretension. These fruits were making him feel really weird.
