Terrified or not, at one point, all children visit pet stores. Sophie Hatter was no exception. Dress in a very dull dress with her hair pinned back in plain barrets, she walked in holding hands with a very unusual man. Standing well over six and a half feet tall, he drew attention, but seemed just as happy to shrink out of it.
"Urm...I-I'll be over there." Of course, he had a list.
Sophie didn't. She was just as happy pressing her nose up against the glass to look at gekos. "Your a little odd, aren't you? But cute!"

This could have gone on just fine, if a new little face hadn't appeared across the class soon after. What looked like a feline-human combination had her nose poked up against the glass and was looking at the gecko curiously. After a moment, however, Cookie noticed Sophie and waved a bit to her, making a mewing noise.

Sophie's toosh shook excitedly and the more she looked, the more she wanted to hold the strange creature. That is, until she saw another one. The stitch witch jumped back, her boots scuffing on the floor. Wha-what was it?! "Hello. I'm sorry, but...what are you?"

"Mrow?" Cookie inquired, her turning to the side as the other girl jumped. What was she? That was obvious, right?
From nearby, a tall blonde walked over carrying a few pet grooming societies. "Cookie, don't startle people, hon." she told her daughter before looking up at Sophie apologetically. "Sorry about that, my daughter's a bit excitable about meeting new people."

"Oh, thats alright." Sophie smoothed out her dress and looked at the pair before blurting out, "You don't look alike. She's furry and scaley at the same time. ....I like it." The witch smiled to Cookie and looked up at her mother. "What is she?"

"Well Cookie's adopted, that's why." Lam laughed, petting her daughter's pink hair a bit. "Darcy or Aaron said she was a chimera kitten or something like that. Or maybe they didn't and that's what they called the little versions of Cookie that they were giving out at Valentines. I forget."
Yay! This girl liked her fur and scales! Cookie purred and slithered over to hug the bigger child - because that's what you do when someone compliments you, right?

"Oooooh. Well, that makes sense." Sophie nodded. "Their crafty people. Did you know they made me shorter? And younger? My husband too!" Oh, how she did love to chitter.
She was momentarily surprised when the chimera hugged her, but she returned the favor all the same. "You're alot softer than you look."

"Really now? Sounds weird." Lam commented, "They okay sorts but I'd be uncomfortable with anyone who tried to make me much younger."
Cookie's tail curled at that and she let out another happy mew. Were they not inside, she'd have even gone bouncing!

"It's weird. And somedays I really don't like it, but you get used to it." The only thing she really missed was her family. What was Lettie and Ben doing? And Morgan, who was feeding him? She prayed it wasn't Megan.
Sophie laughed and scratched behind Cookie's ear. "Are you shopping for her?"

"Sounds awful." Lam commented dryly, shaking her head before nodding a bit. "Yeah, Cookie needed a new fur brush and some scale cleaner. Her brother blew up the last brush and we ran out of the cleaner."
Cookie purred loudly at the scratching and rubbed her cheek against Sophie's shoulder. Yep, definitely part kitty. Not that that wasn't obvious anyway.

Sophie blinked and looked up questioningly. "Blew up? Is he a wizard?" She couldn't help it, she was curious!
The witch turned her full attention to Cookie now and scratched her in all the places she liked to be rubbed when she was a cat. "You should get a collar. A nice pink one with a little bell. "

"Yes actually." Lam laughed, "Of sorts anyway."
Cookie mewed in agreement at that and curled her tail again, half attempting to wrap around Sophie a bit. Luckily, she was still a good deal smaller, being a toddler.
"Let's not hang on the nice girl, Cookie." Lam said, patting her daughter's head. "Want to help pick out a collar for her then?"

Wow. Sophie thought. It was the first rumor of wizardry she'd heard in Gaia beyond Howl. Everything else was of vampires and kid's with blue skin. The child squirmed and decided to pick Cookie up. "It's alright, I don't mind. Just wrap around my tummy, okay? I need to walk."
It was a great deal harder to carry a toddler than it had been when she was bigger, but the most she did was huff. "Where are the collars?"

"OVer there." Lam said pointing before leaning down to help wrap her daughter around Sophie comfortably. Cookie couldn't tell from where she was how to wrap without hurting the other girl. She was used to much bigger people, or her brother who was generally stationary.
The kitten was a happy happy girl right then. Cookie had a new friend to wrap around, they were getting a collar with a bell - yay more bells for her! - and they were in a place full of neat animals!

Sophie proceeded to the collar area with her new little friend in tow. Obviously it wasn't the trip she had imagined, but so far it was interesting. Her brown eyes saught Cookie's for a little smile before looking out ahead.
Adrian poked his head around the isle just in time to see his ward disappear. Now, just what was she up to....? He skulked along after her and came upon a woman, a little witch and a..naga? The vampire shifted his armload as he came up around on Sophie's side. "Make a friend?"
"Yes! Can I keep her?"
