The sun was shining into Maria's bedroom, and she growled mad that she had to wake up. She sat up and scratched her head, and soon memories where starting to run through her head. The monster, the fight, the feelings, and Annie becoming... A monster also? Maria sighted and stood up, walking to the wardrobe. The images in her head kept running around when she started to walk to the kitchen, yawning on her way.
-“ Good morning.”
Maria looked into the kitchen and saw Annie stand there and smiled.
-“ What are you still doing here?” Maria asked after a few seconds of silence.
-“ Making you breakfast?” Annie said and showed whit a hand to Maria to sit down. Maria hesitated, but sat down at last. She started to eat while Annie started to wash the dishes from last night. It was quiet, but not a bad one, Maria thought. Maybe Annie was on her way to explain what really happened last night...
After what seemed like an hour Maria couldn’t stand the silence any more.
-“ Annie... What really happened last night?”
Annie looked over her shoulder and glanced at Maria, before sighing.
-“ It really isn’t that complicated. We met a monster, I killed it and then we went home. That's it.”
-“ No that's not it!” Maria said frustrated.
-“ Then what do you want to know?” Annie sat down in front of Maria and crossed her arms. Maria bit her lower lip before looking into Annie's eyes.
-“ I...I want to know why that monster attacked, what happened to you, and...why I got these feelings that something was wrong...”
Annie looked at Maria, before smiling at her.
-“ That was you’re monster telling you something was wrong. Sins you haven’t really realised it you feel like it was something wrong, but couldn’t figure out what. The monster WARNED you.”
-“ But then why didn’t I run? I was almost dying of FRIGHT!”
-“ That's it. Why do you think a deer in the lights of a car doesn’t move? It’s afraid so it can’t do anything. It’s natural.”
-“ But I could have died! This monster in me wants me to die!”
-“ Calm down!” Annie said and rose to her feet, Maria already standing.
-“ No I will not! I could have died! And then you came, killed it whit ease and looked at me like it was all a game!” Maria felt her blood boil again. Suddenly, Annie's right eye started to change colour, and it slowly turned red again.
-“ If you don’t calm the hell down, I might do something bad and I don’t want that.” Annie said, but her voice was a blend of her own and someone else's... Maria gulped, before breathing normally again. She hadn’t even noticed she had started to breath harder and faster. Annie blinked, and the red was going away again.
-“ Good girl.” She said. “As I was saying, you are changing, whether you like it or not. And it looks like it’s when you get angry that the monster comes out. Have you seen you’re self in the mirror lately?”
Maria looked at Annie whit confused eyes.
-“ What do you mean?”
-“ The first that changes are you’re eyes. Did you know they turn an orange yellowish when you get mad?”
Maria’s face dropped and ran to the mirror in the bathroom. She looked at herself, but she didn’t see anything.
-“ You’re tricking me...” Maria said and looked at Annie who now stood leaning against a door frame. “There is nothing wrong whit my eyes!”
-“ Oh really?” Annie said looking at her.
-“ Yeah! You’re just tricking me! And maybe you did something that made my mind wonder and made me see all those things yesterday!” Maria felt her blood boil again, and then suddenly Annie was next to her, gripping Maria's arms and faced her to the mirror again.
-“ Oh really?” Annie said, and in the mirror Maria saw Annie's eye turn red again, and to Maria's horror, her own eyes where an orange colour whit yellow in them.
-“ I’m sorry Maria, but I really hate it when people say I’m lying when I’m trying to help.” Annie whispered into Maria's ear. Maria tried to struggle, but Annie was to strong and pushed her against the counter. “And I really hate it when people scream at me. So, will you be a good puppy and stop being so irritating? I would hate it to see you’re mothers face if she found her beloved daughter slaughtered in her own home...”
Maria's heart pounded like mad as she saw Annie's face in the mirror. It was turning darked, and the eye started to almost shine it’s red colour. Maria almost didn’t dare to breath when Annie smiled.
-“ Well? Will the puppy behave?”
-“ Ye...Yes...Just don’t kill me!” Maria said and closed her eyes. Annie laughed and let go of Maria.
-“ Good puppy.”
