You know, kid, all trainees are required to get a checkup! Shots and everything! Right in the... well, you'll see, huh kid? they had told him. Did he believe them? Not at all. Did he do what he was told anyway? Unfortunately, yes. It was for that reason he was on his way to the infirmary, deep within the twisting hallways of the Rocket base. He wasn't used to the long halls, the seemingly infinite number of random doors leading to random rooms and sometimes random hallways, and especially not all of the other Rockets, but he did his best to follow the signs, dreading having to ask directions when he got lost.

Needless to say, getting lost was inevitable. As was getting the wrong directions from those Grunts who liked to pick on him. Still, he followed them as best he could until he got lost yet again, and had to ask directions yet again, the process draining, but he was always one to follow his superiors' orders.

He found himself facing a door reading simply 'Laboratory' and hoped that if there was a lab there had to be an infirmary close by. "Oh well, here goes nothing," he whispered, pushing open the door as silently as possible. Inside was a single lab worker, wearing the trademark white coat ((I hope this is right, since it's what I assumed she was wearing from the picture in your journal. Feel free to ignore it if it's wrong. XD)). She seemed like the best (if not only) person to ask, so he cleared his throat before speaking as clearly as possible, "E-Excuse me, but y-you wouldn't happen to know where the infirmary is... m-m-ma'am? I was t-t-told to get my sh-sh-shots..."

Work was heavy for this week, and Vironica was inches from pulling her hair out by the roots. At the moment, she had on her serious face, and her back was to the door. Pens stuck out form her long hair, which was currently up in a bun-like knot on the back of her head, and her bangs hung loosely on either side. As soon as the door opened, she turned ridged from her work over a microscope and he let out an irritated sound. "For the last time, this is going to take at least a week to analyze, and even LONGER if you continue to check up on us, sir."

As the voice of the nervous and rather freaked out boy came out, she blinked and turned around, adjusting her glasses with slightly widened eyes. "O-oh! Oh my, I'm terribly sorry I snapped at you. We're just under a bit of pressure." she then frowned a little. "Shots...? I'm sorry, but you're on the wrong floor." Casting a glance at the clock, she quickly wrote a few things down on her paper, then straightened up. "How about I escort you there? It'll be pretty fast; just the first floor. And perhaps a little break is what I need right now."

Liam was originally taken aback by the scientist's first outburst, causing him to step back, catching the door frame to ensure a quick escape, if need be. She seemed to calm down quickly enough as he blurted out his rushed introduction, and he was glad she wasn't literally going to bite his head off. From what he could tell of the experiments the Rockets ran, this wouldn't be unlikely with anyone unfortunate enough to stick around the labs long enough. And he didn't want to be one of them.

β€œTh-th-thank you very much, m-ma'am!” he stuttered, backing out the door as he spoke. He feigned politeness by keeping the door open for her, but he really just wanted to be away from the labs as soon as possible. β€œB-by the way, I'm Liam, Trainee... ma'am,” he managed to choke out. He hated that title, but he felt it his duty to inform superior officers of it whenever introducing himself... He ended this with a bow, smiling a bit to himself despite the circumstances, realizing he looked remarkably like a young, short butler.

Vironica covered her mouth a little as she was called 'ma'am', and she stepped out into the hall ways. "Thank you, and it's nice to meet you, Liam. You should be more careful though, or you'll keep getting lost here. You wouldn't want to get in trouble by wandering someplace where you're not supposed to be."

Walking to the elevator, she pressed the button to summon the cab. "I'm Vironica, by the way, and I'm a Grunt myself." Taking off her glasses, she cleaned them with her lab coat, then put them back on. She was certainly older than most of the grunts and even some of the Agents, but she held with that age an air of confidence in herself.

Liam flushed a deep crimson at the light scolding, something most people wouldn't even think about, but was horrifying to him. He scurried to keep up with the older and taller Rocket, keeping his head down and trying to be as quiet as possible.

"Y-y-yes ma'am. I'll t-try my best ma'am... I-I, uh, mean Miss Vironica ma'am."
He stopped when they reached the elevator, still keeping his head down, trying to take up the least amount of space as possible.

Seeing that poor Liam was anything but relaxed at the moment, Vironica gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, take a few breaths. You don't need to be so worked up. I'm sure plenty of people get lost or confused here. I did when I was first trying to find the labs... I found nearly all the broom closets on this floor before I found the lab I was supposed to be in. And, you don't need to call me 'Ma'am'; I'm not that old, I like to think."

Liam couldn't help but flinch at the physical touch but tried not to run away completely.
"O-ok, thank you m-ma'a- I mean Miss Vironica m..." he said, trying to do his best to keep to her request. "I'll... try my best..."
He still kept his eyes on the floor.
"Though I don't think you're... 'old,' just that you, uh... you know, outrank me."

Vironica removed her hand from his shoulder the instant he had flinched, feeling rather bad for the poor kid; he was so skittish. "I don't out rank you by much... I'm only a grunt right now, so even though I've got all the educational requirements to be doing some truly important tests, all I really get to do is run the machines to make sure they're working properly and clean out test tubes."

As the Elevator rose the floors slowly, Vironica stuck her hands into her lab coat pockets and watched the numbers count down to 1. "So what are you going to the infirmary for again? Are you feeling ill?"

Stuck in an enclosed space with a stranger, even one as kind as Vironica, made Liam even more scared. Scared that he'd do something to anger her and have nowhere to run. Maybe even get kicked out of Team Rocket for making some kind of huge mistake. What kind of mistake he could make in an elevator, short of pressing all of the buttons, was beyond him, but still, the paranoid feeling was there.

He, too, watching the numbers closely, waiting expectantly for the pleasant ding that signaled the end of this ride.
"S-someone told me that I was supposed to get v-vacc- shots."
He didn't tell her that he doubted this was true, just some kind of cruel joke cooked up by one of the worse Grunts, but he secretly hoped she'd tell him it was all a lie and he could just scurry on back to his room.

((Also, I'd like to go ahead and say the longer he's around someone the less he stutters, so he should be doing less of it than the first post. Because I know it can get tiring to read. XD))

"Is that so? Well, I suppose one can never be too cautious... and with some of the pokemon that are running through here, a good number of which are clones, you'd want to have that protection of a decent vaccination." Remembering back to when she'd first came, she'd taken all the vaccinations possible, mostly because she knew that, since she'd be in biology labs at times, there was a great number of things she could have been exposed to.

The ding of the elevator announced their arrival to the first floor, and Vironica stepped out into the hallway and waited for her companion.

"W-w-wait! We're not required to get shots? Th-they told me I had to!" The thought of getting a disease from a cloned Pokemon was somehow not as bad as getting injected with, well... anything.
As he entered the hallway, he couldn't help but look around. "I-I know I've been here before, but... I don't recognize anything. Th-thank you Miss Vironica."

"Well, not that I'm aware of, but it's always a good idea to get the basic vaccinations. I would advise at least a TB shot if you haven't had one recently; better to be safe than sorry."

Pausing when the hallway split off into two paths, Vironica had to think a bit to remember which direction went where, then she gave a small nod and walked down the hallway that led left. "It's a bit like a maze, but if you wonder around enough on one floor, you'll learn where all the places are."

He couldn't believe it. He almost fell back against the nearest wall. He had thought it was a trick the whole time, but to hear that he was right, that he didn't have to get any shots, well, he was relieved to say the least.
"I, uh... Well, if you think I have to get only one?" he asked, pleading with his eyes. She had been nice enough to bring him this far and he'd probably get lost trying to get back to his room anyway.
"Oh, right! What about Art- I mean my Totodile? Do they give Pokemon shots too?"
He followed as close behind as possible silently counting lefts, rights, doorways, hallways, and everything else he could remember. Within a hundred yards he was lost. "Wow, you're right... Let's just hope I make it back to the bunks..."

"I'm honestly not sure. Again, because of what I can possibly be exposed to in the labs, I take extra precautions with myself and my pokemon. You can always ask the doctors or nurses there, they'll know far better than I on what's required." Giving the boy a small, rather sympathetic smile, she placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure you won't be lost for too long. If you do feel lost, place your hand on a wall and follow the wall like you would in a labyrinth; eventually it should bring you to an exit."

"W-well, you see... I don't exactly... l-l-like..." he swallowed, trying to hold back the paranoia that he knew would come if he got within five feet of a needle (or many other things) "neeedles. His final word was little more than a hiss, but it was the best he could manage.

As he spoke, his hand rested on the wall, considering her final words, until he realized something... "B-but what if what's on the other side of the exit is..." he swallowed again, letting that speak for itself.
