Njeve lifted his head to the wind, and with a slight breath, read the stories that had passed this place. Creatures ranging from mice to water buffalo had been here, but that could only be expected. Hardly any of it was of any use to the borderline massive lion. Prey was not what he had come to these lands for. Well, not that sort of prey, any how. Thick, powerful legs pushed him across the savanna. Even among the spring-green grasses, he seemed to disappear. A lithe body trained by deep snow and torturous tunnels.. He was the best of his pride.. And yet..
The lion pushed the thought out of his mind. It was no use to think of her. It never was, but somehow, it never stopped him. Njeve pushed himself into a gentle lope, hoping to force the thoughts to the back of his mind, as if he could leave them in the dust.

Ragdoll trotted through the small somewhat hilly land of the Savannah easily; it was much more tame compared to her rugged and wild lands in her own pride. She slid down the last few feet of a small slope and jumped to flat ground with a light thud. There was a light breeze and she couldn't help but stop for a moment and smile to let it hit her hot and sweating body. She looked around herself and walked a bit deeper into the grass; flopping to her stomach and rolling on her back in an attempt to make a little nest of sorts. She popped one of her eyes open happy to see the circle she'd created and closed her eyes once more. Having decided that it was due time for her to take a nap; and what better place than here?

Njeve paused, a scent on the wind pulling his ears forewar, even as he slowed. An anxious tail lashed back and fourth, watching the land as if it had eyes of its own. "Who goes?" The voice matched its owner in shape, deep and booming as the chest it came from. Still, there was a slight rasp to its tone. This was a voice that was not used so often, not in such a large manner anyhow. He knew the scent as well as one could. It was a female lion, make no mistake. His duty loomed in his mind, but what was that tinge? What was that little lacing to her scent? He knew it, he was sure he did, the lion simply could not place it..

Well so much for wanting to enjoy a nap. Rags thought to herself as her whole face scrunched up in an obviously unhappy sort of a manner. She growled lightly rolling onto her stomach; still in her circle; still soaking up the sun. "WHO WANTS TO KNOW?" She called back. She'd been in these lands before; and she knew it didn't belong to anyone; at least she didn't think that they did. That someone would disturb her nice little nap really pissed her off in fact; and she was ready and willing to give the a** hole a peice of her mind as she sat up with her head just above the grass and glared.

Pregnancy. That was the smell. The lion cursed himself, his tone, expression, and over all demeanor turned apologetic. He knew very well to have a healthy amount of respect for a pregnant lioness.. He would reap the worst of consequences if he didn't.. "Oh! I apologize.. I thought.." The false bravado was gone in a flash as Njeve turned into a bumbling mess. After a long, rather akward moment, he sat on his haunches, head hanging in a cublike manner. "..Sorry.. I mean.. I wasn't sure.."

Rags didn't care that he was immediately back stepping over what he'd already said. The point of the matter was; he'd disturbed her when she'd been in a perfectly good position right under the sun. It had all been so nice; and he'd gone and ruined it. "Why did you even need to make sure?" She called. Staying where she was; staring him down with a look she'd perfected. "Who did you think I was? someone out for you blood? If I was I hope next time you don't make a fool of yourself by calling out your location." She snorted lifting her head mockingly. "WHO GOES THERE?" She called mimicking him in a higher pitched voice before lowering herself to lay back down in the grass. "Everyone knows you attack before you ask if you're really curious."

Njeve couldn't help the slight scowl that took his features, but none the less, he lion sat, looking something like a kicked puppy. "Well, then. Excuse me for not trying to tear you to bits." His tone had turned sour as his ears pressed with a slight, but quickly developing dislike for the lioness.

Still. She was right. He had been the one to be brash and rude. That was his trespass, for certain. Guess I brought this on myself.. again. He gave a slight huff, pulling himself to his feet. He would do as he was raised. "...I'll return shortly." In another occasion, the lion would have explained more, but considering all things, he thought it smarter to keep his maw shut as much as possible. Speaking never ended well with him, it would seem...

"pfft; like I would have let you." Rags mumbled; trying to find that one perfectly comfortable spot again as she rolled around in the grass. She liked this grass... she would need to come back and grab some from here... Maybe make Tokolosh come with her; he was bigger than her after all and could carry more of it than she could. She smiled as she finally found her prefect spot and closed here eyes again. She wondered how odd it would look to see a big doof of a god like him rolling around in the grass. Her ear twitched slightly as the male called out to her. Not that she'd care if he'd come back shortly or not. So long as he didn't do anything stupid.

A nose used to cold air was turned all the sharper by the warm savanna. Things were so much easier here than they were in the mountains. There was no snow to hold back his paws, no sharp cold air to keep his breath shallow. Everything was so much more inviting.. But still, the mountains were home... No matter what he found in this lush land, Njeve could never forsake that place. He crouched low, breath in slow, quiet pulls. A snap second, a snap decision, and the lion lunged foreward, his speed and stregnth crashing into the gazelle. The scuffle that followed went as if scripted. Lashing hooves, and a lion scrambling for the delecate neck.

The carcass landed with a thump next to the lioness. Perhaps, a more tactful creature would have laid it with a bit more caution. Perhaps a more tactful lion would have taken every step as not to wake the lioness. However, while Njeve was many things, tactful was far from one of them. "Here. To make up for earlier." He hardly seemed to wait for the lioness's response, rather, he quickly took residence in a tree, clawing his way to a sturdy branch... The further away he was, the better it would be. He knew that much

Rags had actually been having a nice dream; it had been a while since one of those had occurred; and when something suddenly shook the ground next to her and made a large crashing nose; she was scared out of her wits to say the least as she jumped to her feet hair standing on ends all over her body. A snarl plastered on her face as if she ready for anything to attack her. When her heart had stopped racing in the manner that it did; and she realized what had just happened there she looked up at the tree a sort of 'what the hell' look on her face. "So to apologize for disturbing my nap..." she started; her breathing returning to normal. "You wake me up a second time?" What a 'smart' lion this male was. Obviously not the brightest of the bulbs; but then again the bulky ones didn't have to be smart did they?

Njeve gave an almost insulted huff. "It wasn't to apologize for disturbing your nap." He looked down at the easily ruffled lioness. Nothing would please her, would it? He gave a slight sigh, beginning to believe all the more that the only decent lions lived within his pride.. Perhaps that was why he would never leave the mountains... Everyone down here seemed so snotnosed. Still, it didn't mean that he had to be one of the brutes. "It was to apologize for my rudness. Your nap, I couldn't care less about." His temper and tolerance was wearing thin, and his want to return home was becomming greater with each step he took on these plains. Rather honestly, the lioness seemed a spoiled brat to him, pregnant or not. Was it really nessicary for her to be so.. Bitchy over a nap? If anything, it was dangerous to sleep in such a place. Hyenas, other rouges. There was no end of things that could have come along and simply offed her in her sleep. Njeve took another breath, calming himself as he dropped his chin to his paws. He wanted to go home. ...But he would have to bring back new recruits to do so.. He could not return empty handed.. However, he would pray to the gods that this female would not be among those who came..

"Well I've already eaten." Rags informed him; yawning and stretching out her body to an almost straight line pushing the carcass away from her and towards him. "So you might as well enjoy the fruits of your labor." She told him not once having opened her eyes. Still fully intending on getting in at least an hour or two worth of a nap. She'd been walking since late last night and her pregnancy had really started to begun bother her. The smell of that carcass alone so close to her face didn't appeal to her at all; in fact it made her quite nauseous. The only thing she'd been able to keep down had been fish. It seemed her cubs to be had become rather fond of them and were already begging her for them. She rolled her body once again; facing away from the lion. In her mind; the rudeness had been disturbing her; and if he didn't want to apologize for that then he might as well not have apologized at all. A cat needed a nap every so often. How else was she supposed to keep up with the way this world of her worked if she was tired?

Njeve let his chin drop to his paws, tail twitching as he laid on the branch. "I'm not hungry." He said, a flat tone turning somewhat gruff. Now, he felt like he owed her something. In all reality, he didn't, and it would probably be best to simply be on his way.. But there was still that nagging feeling. He couldn't just leave a pregnant female alone in the savanna. There was quite simply something in him that just.. Just screamed against it, and wouldn't budge on the matter. He closed his eyes, ears twitching as he thought. Whatever he did, it would more likely than not be better to keep his mouth shut. That was one lesson that life had taught the lion very well... When he spoke, it just seemed like he would do nothing other than get himself into a mess...

Rags looked down at the kill; what a waste that had been. She shook her head; he should have thought about it first; asked her if she was hungry; if she'd needed anything to eat or something along those lines. She looked up at the lion in the tree. One of the things she missed about not being pregnant was being able to climb up trees. "Do you make it a habit of finding pregnant easily angered females to feed?" She called snickering lightly. It was after all; slightly humorous how much he'd just failed when it was obvious he'd been trying to be nice.

Njeve left his eyes shut, and forced his expression to keep its relaxed tone. "No. I don't." His voice had dropped, as if you could see his eyes rolling just by the sound of his voice. Wasn't it bad enough that he'd already been rejected when he had tried to be nice? Did she really have to mock him, now of all times? It really did make staying here to babysit her a tad more irritating. "Where in Mokdi's name is your mate anyway? Shouldn't he be the one babysitting you?" It would be a lie to say that the lion's voice lacked a slight venom, though suppresed. His eyes opened ever slightly, a bored and irritated expression wading through the blue orbs... The more and more he walked the savanna, the more and more he was convinced that the lions who roamed it were irritating creatures..
