Melda was not a happy camper. After her rather unsavory encounter with a lion much larger and meaner than she, all she wanted to do was crawl into a cave and hide away for a few weeks. But she didn't. Instead of hiding, she left herself out in the open, waiting by a watering hole near the place she had met Misri before, all in the hope of meeting him again. The risk was worth it if she could see her treasure again.

She knew he was good and he would be able to keep her safe from any other lions that try to mess with her.

Frowning into the water, she watched the pool ripple as small tears dripped off her cheek into it. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do with herself if he didn't come around. Maybe he had moved off to find a new treasure. Maybe she would have to deal with her problems all on her own, as usual.

Somehow, she couldn't bring herself to do it by herself this time.

He had given her a promise. He would be there, forever, for her. He had no other desire but to make her happy, even if he wasnt sure how good of a mate he would be. He was a sweet boy, and would give the love she wanted.. He just hoped she would be okay with him once the glamour of everything being new wore off.

His paws carried him quickly, as meeting with a few rogues the past few days had made him miss the familiar faces.
He saw her face, lying next to the watering hole. He felt sadness however, and he furrowed his brow, before picking up the pace to get to her.

She didnt seem to be the sunshine he had seen before..What could have been wrong?

"Melda?" He asked, his mind racing.

Melda yelped lightly, jumping to her paws on instinct before spinning around to see what had spoken to her. In her fright, she hadn't even registered the familiar tone. It was only the sight of him that gave her room to relax again. Sighing heavily, her shoulders sagged, her tails dropping between her legs instantly. She was relieved to see that it wasn't another mean lion come to do her harm.

"Misri!" she yelped, moving forward until her head made contact with his chest. "I was so scared! I thought you wouldn't come to see me again... I was worried..." though not just about that. Now that he was there, did she really want to ruin their meeting for her problems? She closed her eyes, just taking in his scent while she could.

It was amazing how much she had missed him.

He looked concerned, a stern look on his face as he tried to figure out what was wrong. He was beginning to realize that he did not like the thought of her being upset.. He had never been that way before, what changed him now?

When she ran and cuddled into his chest, he gave a soft purr, before licking the top of her forehead, and then laying his head over hers. Holding her to him, in a way.

"Of course I would come back Melda.. I told you, you are my forever treasure."
He chuckled.

She smiled faintly into his fur.

"I know, I was silly to think you wouldn't return," she told him softly, "I was just... scared... there was this other lion and he..." she pouted from a moment, before reluctantly pulling herself away from him to look up into his face. She wanted to see if he would be mad at her for telling him her problems.

"This lion tried to take me off with him somewhere!" she whimpered it out at last, "he was so mean and rough! I ran away form him before he could do anything, but I thought he was going to hurt me! Are all lions aside from you so mean in the rogue lands? I don't like it..." she wanted to find somewhere safe for the both of them. There were too many problems in the rogue lands.

He was a bit dismayed by what he heard, and he raised an eyebrow with a bit of a growl. Someone had tried to hurt Melda? He was not very happy about that at all, and his mind began thinking of ways on how he would hurt the other..

"Do you know who it was?" He asked with seriousness. He was angry, but he didnt want to scare the treasure nuzzled into him.
"No. No not all lions are mean.. Im not mean, am I?" He asked with a little smile, nuzzling her gently.

"No, I don't know who it was..." she said faintly, deciding not to care that she wasn't acting very adult at that moment. All she wanted to do was hide in his fur and be safe from the rest of the rogue lands for as long as possible. She didn't know if he could even fight or protect her, but she still felt safe watching him. Just seeing the expression on his face was enough to calm her, at least a little bit anyway.

She smiled faintly. "No... you're not mean... I think it was ver lucky that I met you." she returned the nuzzles, taking a deep breath. "I don't know,,, sometimes I think a pride would be safer... especially if... you know... there were cubs... eventually..."

He loathed the idea of being in a pride. He wasnt sure he fit in any large group setting. He looked at her with concerned eyes, licking her head once more before using his paw to aim her chin up to look at him.

"If its safe, for cubs, then yes. I would like that."
He had never known any of the litters he had sired along the way, or who had litters from him at all. He left far too quickly.

"I want you safe."

She watched him, her frightened eyes growing more alive again as he continued to comfort her. Was this what it was like to have a someone to depend on? To love, even? He would always protect her and she felt, should she ever need to, she would do the same for him. It wasn't like males were the only ones allowed to be the guardians, were they? She could be his protector too.

If he needed her, she wanted to be there for him. A treasure with a special ability.

She rubbed the side of his face with hers, giving it a gentle lick. "I'm sorry," she whispered, "for being so silly. I know I must be acting like a fool.... frightened from one attack. I'm happy you're here with me."

He shook his head, chuckling a bit, but used his tail to curl around her body, flicking her with the tip.

"No Need to be sorry.. You were very brave, and what would a lion be, without his brave counterpart, who happens to be just as beautiful, as she is brave?"
He asked, and nosed her gently.

Melda giggled softly, albeit a little forlorn still.

"Brave? I don't think you could call running with your tail between your legs very brave... but at least I'm still beautiful, right? One out of the two isn't so bad." She tried to smile at him more, feeling much more relaxed. "Have you found any other treasures?" she asked softly, "because I haven't. Your still the only one."

She felt very close to the male comforting her, even as she started to move away from him towards her den. "I'm feeling a little tired," she told him, looking over her shoulder, "will you keep me company until I fall to sleep?"

"Well I think you're brave. No matter ho much you protest." He smiled. Standing, and walking with her to the den entrance.
He would want nothing more than to curl up with her and make sure she stayed safe. He almost wanted that rogue to come back, so he could lay into them.. but for now he would support Melda.. He owed it to her.

"I have found no other treasure, my darling. And I am happy to hear that I am still the only treasure you seek."
He grinned, nosing her cheek.

The lioness was pleased with the words he offered, even if she wasn't sure how much truth was behind them. He was trying to comfort her, that was the important thing. Trying and making it happen, actually. Smiling warmly, she led him to the den, moving inside without too much concern. It was only a temporary home, but it was just big enough for two. Cozy.

One day she would find the perfect den. Something large enough for herself, a mate, and maybe even a family.

She looked back at him again, motioning for him to follow her inside. Having him there made any concerns of getting attacked again completely vanish. What it meant to have a mate- had she found it at last? "You'll always be my only treasure," she assured him.
