Full title: "Britney Spears bravely agrees to release un-airbrushed images of herself next to the digitally-altered versions"
Celebrities and the industry around them is often accused of producing images that affect young people's body image.
Which is why it's so refreshing to see one of the world's most famous pop stars allowing all of their imperfections to be highlighted.
Britney Spears has allowed the pre-airbrushed images from a shoot she took part in for fashion firm Candie's to be used ALONGSIDE the digitally-altered ones, so people can see the difference.
The 29-year-old singer made the extraordinary move in order to highlight the pressure exerted on women to look perfect.
In the first shot, she is seen facing the camera with her arms behind her back.
Imperfections that can be clearly seen in the un-airbrushed shot include blemishes on her calf, her larger thighs and, if you look really closely, you can see her feet have dry skin on them.
The airbrushed pictures, however, tell a different story with a slimmed-down waist and flawless, skinny legs.
Meanwhile, in the second picture, she is seen from the back - in the un-airbrushed shot she has areas of cellulite on the back of her thighs, a tattoo on her lower back (sometimes called a 'tramp stamp') is clearly visible and her backside is a little out of shape.
However, in the altered photo all of these imperfections have been wiped out - and she appears to have a pert rear, unrealistically smooth skin, slimmer legs and the tattoo has vanished.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Britney is proud of her body - imperfections and all.'
Of the experience, the singer told press: 'I had so much fun shooting the Candies for Kohl's campaign. My favorite set-up was against the gigantic wall of pink cotton candy.'
And she added: 'I got to wear the cutest clothes and they are perfect for summer!'

Wow! That's quite a difference. I've always had a soft-spot for Britney actually. When I was younger she was near about all I listened to. I totally looked up to her and thought how pretty she was. To see how much she is really "made up" along with stars is really a difference.
It's nice to know not even models are perfect. Heck, who knows...I might even have a few perks over them.
I hate how unrealistic the media is, why can't everyone be real? Seriously.
I love this though, thanks for posting Nikolita! ^-^ It's really cool that Britney did that. I think, although she's had her crazy moments, she can be a pretty "real" girl. (:

(: I was the same way when I was younger with Britney. I envied her voice, her looks, etc. I will admit though that my admiration went a little down hill once she grew out of the cute teenager stage and started being more open about her new-found "maturity". I do have to say that it took a lot of courage to go against the airbrush. After all the fun the media has poked at her, she stepped out from behind the "perfection" they dolled her up with. I give her kudos since I haven't really seen any other celebrity have that type of courage. No one is perfect. Unfortunately, the media wants to make us believe that these photoshopped images in magazines are the images of perfection. I have gained that admiration for Britney back because of this post. Thank you, Nikolita for posting this. =)

That's awesome. I've always wanted to see celebrities without the airbrushing.

You guys are most welcome. 3nodding As soon as I came across it, I was like "OH! This would fit in my guild so well! 4laugh " And here it is, lol.
I felt so bad when she was having her mental health issues a couple of years ago, and the media was just feeding off it. Even finally once she finally hit rock bottom and they were still plastering her all across the magazines, it was like "Ok, she's obviously got some serious issues going on. Leave her alone guys."
So happy to see she's been doing better and has turned her life around. Kudos to her for doing this picture comparison too. I think she's beautiful in her untouched photos - I'd give an arm to look that good.
There's the Kelly Clarkson article in this subforum too, but that one was slightly different. Here Britney was just airbrush - in Kelly's case (for Self magazine), they changed Kelly's facial structure in addition to airbrushing her body. talk2hand
