After Aiden's request to leave as soon as possible from the wedding, she agreed that it sounded like a great idea. She really didn't want to deal with Rasiel and whoever the new girl in his arms was. It bothered her to see him like that, accepting of everyone but her. It irked her to the core. But she realized that she had to let go for now. Andy nodded briefly and took him by the hand leading him away from the nightmare of the wedding. Had she have known who all would have been there, she would have reconsidered a long while back.

It was a long walk, one taken in a bit of silence as she then realized that Aiden might not have been doing to good after seeing that Deskri kid again, and maybe even the sister-stealing demon. He probably thinks that girl will steal Mira. But Andy doubted that, as she knew that she would put her own life on the line to protect Mira. They were best friends after all, so what more could she do.

Andy turned back to Aiden, still leading him by the hand. "What do you want to do?" she asked, letting her eyes wander to find any ideas on what to do now that they had entered the city. The inner city did acknowledge the existence of the academy and the race of Metas it created. Though, not everyone could accept it as a gift from the high beings. It was always strange to see non-humans walking around, since they were few and far between now. Andy could feel the stares of the human population baring down on her with some sort of judgemental idea that she might not actually belong there in the city. Andy began to glare back at a few people, becoming annoyed that they couldn't just accept their existence and go about their own business.

Within her wandering eyes, she caught sight of an Ice Cream Shop. "Oooo, how about Ice Cream? We could go there!" she exclaimed, the dirty look of distaste wiping clean from her face to be replaced with a new more confident face. She smiled at him, hoping that it was something that could help Aiden get his mind off of the events of the day.

"Thank you... I don't... feel comfortable near that boy." Aiden murmured after awhile of silent walking. He'd managed to calm down the surprising amount of fear he felt at the sight of Deskri, and the mention of a sister-stealing demon. "Or anyone that's a sister-stealing demon." He smiled a bit, trying to laugh it off since it really was a ridiculous fear.

Aiden had read quite a bit about the outside world, but he'd never stepped foot off of the campus, so it was quite a shock to his system to be stared at with such disdain and perhaps even disgust. He kept close to Andy with his eyes on the ground, feeling like all he wanted to do was hide away from the world and never come out again. Humans were surely cruel in their gazes.

"I-I dunno Andy...I don't like these people though." He replied in a quiet voice. He regretted not changing their course for something on the Academy grounds, but the mention of ice cream had him perked up again. He loved ice cream... "Y-yeah, I like ice cream." He offered a real smile, nodding his head in agreement. "Maybe people won't stare so much in there..."

Andy smiled. "Oh, don't worry about them. They're just not used to people like us. You don't have too much to worry about, you just look like someone painted you up a little. I, on the other hand, have wings. That's an oddity to them, as my mom says." she explained, leading him into ice cream shop. She stood up to the counter and looked at the selection of ice cream. Her tongue sliding its way up to her upper lip in though as she placed a lone finger on her chip.

"hmm.." she hummed, taking her time in her decision like it was the last move in a chess game. Taking a deep breath, she smiled at the cashier girl. "I'd like to have mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone please!" she ordered as polite as she could manage. The cashier looked at Andy for a moment and then looked around for a moment then back to her with a furrowed eyebrow.

"Where are your parents, little kids?" she asked in a tone that could be questioned about her attitude. "What? I don't need my parents! And he doesn't even have parents! What's wrong with you, don't you have any common decency?" she shot back, placing a hand on her hip and huffing with annoyance. "Well, do you even have any money, little girl?"

Andy paused, staring at the cashir as though apauled by the question. "Of course I have money!" she exclaimed and then pulled out a twenty dollar bill and slammed it on the counter. "I'm not a child either!! I'm a young lady who's mother is a very respected scientist around here!!" she was beginning to get angry, but before Andy could shoot off a snarky remark, the manager pulled aside the cashier girl. They had a small chat and split ways, the manager coming up to the counter with an apologetic smile.

"Please excuse her, she's new. So you'd like a mint chocolate chip with a waffle cone anything else?" Andy then turned to Aiden with a smile. "What do you want to get? I'll pay for it so don't worry." she offered with a small chuckle. Andy no longer payed concern to the previous cashier that had seemed to not take them seriously, but at least the manager had half a brain, as Andy thought.

"That's true, but my markings shine in the sunlight, see?" Aiden held up his hand with the red fingers to let Andy see the glint it had that was clearly different from the rest of his skin. "But wings are much... stranger for humans, so you win." He grinned a little, Andy did win hands down in a contest of oddity for human eyes.

Aiden followed her up to the selection and scanned through it, trying to find his favorite flavor. Ah, well, they didn't have the kind with peanut butter and brownies in it so he decided to settle for plain chocolate. Aiden looked up at the mention of parents, that topic was one that roused him to anger or pushed him into a pessimistic mood. He wanted parents, but at the same time he was quite happy with it just being him and Mira.

"Humans are rude." The words came out before he had time to stop them, and of course he was staring at the "new" cashier as he said them. He debated slapping a hand over his mouth, but no, she'd been rude to them first so he saw no need to be extra polite right back. Besides, Andy had already chewed her out.

"I'd like a chocolate one of the same kind." Aiden piped up, eying the manager suspiciously. He seemed nicer than the last employee, but he wasn't taking his chances.

Andy smiled as she heard Aiden mention that humans were rude, she would have completely agreed if it weren't for her mother being a human. It didn't bother her all too much, as soon they had received their ice cream and Andy took her change from the order. She wander back outside and found a decent spot on the curb to sit down and eat her ice cream. She would have sat at a table inside the creamery, but she didn't want to bother with having being stared at the whole time she was there just trying to enjoy her snack. She motioned for Aiden to join her. "That's a really cool thing you can do there, with your skin. All I can do is sing really well and make people do what I say, but it doesn't always work. I can also scream really loud, loud enough to break glass... but I don't really like to use it so much, since it hurts people when I do it." she struck up the conversation, being pretty talkative since she was enjoying being social with others. Andy had never remembered being shy in her life, she was always pretty straight forward, a trait she aquired from Rasiel when he had stayed with her. "It's a nice day out..." she commented softly, looking upward and placing a hand in front of her face to block the sun from her eyes as she watched the clouds go by, taking a bite of her ice cream every so often.

Aiden followed after Andy outside and sat himself down next to her. He licked at his ice cream absentmindedly while listening to Andy speak, and winced at the mention of breaking glass with a scream. "Y-you can break glass with your scream?" He shuddered a little too visibly. "I.. make glass shards, and change colors..." He smiled a little bit, trying to get over the image of himself being shattered from a scream. It was a little too horrifying for him... "Yeah, it is." Aiden looked up to the sky and nodded, liking the weather quite a bit.

"Well, I'm sure I could break other things too, but glass is pretty fragile, so that's easier for me to break. But like I said I don't really do that, since my screaming hurts people. I don't like to hurt people. Even my crying sometimes has that effect, so I try not to do that either." she began to ramble again, a habit she had developed from never being told she should stop or be quiet. "Changing colors is cool. I wish I could change colors. I'd be a different color every day depending on how I felt." she nodded with a smile as she ate more of her ice cream. She paused for a moment, and then stared up at the sky a bit more. "Ever felt like there was something missing... like something you feel you need to complete, and the only way to feel whole again, is not by yourself, but with the help of someone else?....... I feel that way, like I'm missing something." she turned her gaze to him and smiled. "I was considering maybe going out and finding a boyfriend... I overheard my older sister talking about that she wouldn't feel so incomplete if only she had a boyfriend. So I figure, maybe I should get one too. What do you think?" she asked, really just making more conversation.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 15, 2010 1:15 am

"I usually change when I'm feeling something, too." Aiden smiled a little... The color changes were rare due to his muted way of feeling, so it was a half lie. Most of his coloring changes were done on purpose to display an emotion he thought he should be feeling at the time.

"All the time." He replied simply, not even taking a moment to think about her question. He knew he was missing something... He was missing emotions, yes, but more importantly... He was missing someone or something that could trigger them inside of him without the aide of Mira. "Aren't... you the same age as me and Mira? Isn't that a little... young for relationships?" He fidgeted a little, he'd thought about doing the exact same thing, only he planned on doing it when he was older and preferably not with a boy. He was willing to accept anyone though, as long as they got an emotional reaction out of him that was his, and not Mira's.

"I suppose you're right, but I figure I'd get a head start on it. I mean, what if I wait until I'm older and I get it wrong. Then I would have wasted all that time waiting to be old enough...... It's not like I'd do anything.. I really don't know if I would ever. I guess, holding hands, hanging out a lot, and maybe even kissing would be fine. Anything to feel complete.. again.." she whispered the last word under her breath. She was still hurt by Rasiel and what he had said to her, it was something she couldn't let go yet. "I guess... I won't go looking for a boyfriend, but if I find a guy that looks like he'd make me feel complete, I'll go for it. Does that sound better?" she asked, eating the rest of her ice cream until it was gone. She began to look around for something to do next, looking across the street to see a diner of some sort. She seemed intrigued that she could hear music coming from it.

"Aren't relationships for figuring things out?" Aiden grinned a little. "Everyone reacts to things differently, or so I've read, so I imagine that even if you get it down now, you'll meet someone new and not know what to do." He shrugged. "That sounds like a much better plan." He nodded in agreement, also finishing the last of his ice cream. "This was really good, thank you." He smiled a little.

"No worries." she responded with a grin. She was very content hanging out with Aiden, she really began to consider him a best friend as well. Her attention was drawn back to the diner with music. She watched the door as people filed in and out. The wind blew a little and one of the papers on the door of diner blew off in the direction of them, it stuck fast to her leg as the wind had blown up against it. The wind died down a bit as she picked up the paper and read it. "...karaoke?.." she whispered as she looked over the page. Karaoke Tonight. Singing Contest. Grand Prize $100. At the Rock Hard Diner. A grin grew across her face as she then looked at Aiden with her newly aquired devious grin. She dropped the paper and grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's go check it out!!" she exclaimed as she jumped up and looked both ways before running across the street when it was clear. She ran straight for the diner and went inside, dragging Aiden with her.

"A-ahh, Andy I'm not good at singing..." Aiden protested lightly as he was pulled up. "Wuaa!" He stumbled along after Andy, clinging to her arm once they reached the safety of the other side of the street. "Don't do that! I-It's dangerous a-and you're su-supposed to look for the s-sign that says it's okay to walk." He stammered a little, but despite his "fear," all he felt was a muted sense of it.

"Oh, don't worry so much. Where's your sense of adventure?" she spoke in an enthusiastic tone as she walked in to see someone singing on a stage. Andy pouted slightly, to her, they sounded terrible and off key. She wanted so badly to go up there and show everyone how it was really done. "Are you sure you don't want to sing?" she asked as she moved over to what looked like a sign-up sheet. Andy wrote down her name then walked over to a table and sat down to wait for her turn. "Do you want anything while we wait? Like, a drink or anything?" she inquired, making it worth his wait to stay with her. "I just really want to sing. And then we can leave and go home. How does that sound?" she smiled at him, almost overflowing with exciment from the anticipation of waiting to be called up to sing.

"I-I must've left it at home." He muttered somewhat dryly. Running out into the middle of the street didn't really seem like an adventure to him. "Err... I sound like nails on a chalkboard..." He shook his head, making a face. "I think it's the glass...." He nodded a bit, chewing on his lip a little as they found a place to sit. "Uhmm, I think I'm good for now... and we can stay as long as you want as long as you don't make me sing." He grinned, shrugging a little. He doubted anyone in the room would stick around if he tried... even Andy.

[This is what she'd doing here.]

"That's okay. I'll be the one to sing. Just you wait, I'll show them how it's really done!" she proclaimed as she smiled big. Just then, her name was called. 'Alright, next on the singers list is Andy Eternal.' Andy gave a big grin to Aiden and then jumped to her feet and made her way to the stage.

Whispers began to surface through the diner as she got up on the stage and then looked to the band playing on the stage, and asked the guitarist if he had a spare guitar. He looked at her puzzledly and nodded as he then gave her a guitar. Andy whispered to them for a moment, agreeing on what to play as they nodded to her request. Standing center stage, she tested the strings of the guitar and then stood, nodding her head in signal to the band to start playing.

As the drums started up she turned around and began to play on the guitar before she then opened her mouth to sing. As she sang, she was really into the music as she closed her eyes and let the words come to her. The audience was at first confused, but then began to really enjoy her singing. As she came to the finish of the song, she bowed and the audience cheered.

At that moment, one of the onlookers stood up and yelled. 'Hey, look, her wings are real! She must be one of those kids from the academy!! She's probably cheating!!' Andy's mouth almost dropped open in shock of the accusation as she had a look of sadness on her face. The announcer asked her to come down off the stage and began to talk to her for a moment. It seemed he agreed and told her she couldn't win the contest. Andy looked furious and upset. Just because she wasn't human, she couldn't win a prize.

As she turned to trudge off, the announcer proclaim to the audience someone else as the winner and the bartender called to her. Andy turned to look at the woman at the bar. 'Honey, I don't think that's fair of them to say things like that about you. You're such a good singer, it's a shame my husband didn't choose you.' the woman spoke in a southern drawl as she looked around for a moment then pulled something out from under the counter.

The woman held out a small medal with a "#1" printed on it. 'You can have this, you deserve it.' Andy was surprised but took the medal and smiled. "Thank you, ma'am." she bowed a bit and then ran back over to Aiden and took his hand. "L-let's leave... before those drunks decide to start throwing things... or something.." she half-begged as she looked worriedly to Aiden. At that point, she lost her confidence to try to take anyone on, she just wanted to go do something else or go home, it didn't matter to her which one it was.
