A Kalona mare with the glowing wings of a wind spiraled out of the sky. As she drew nearer to the mountain, her ears pitched forward in interest, as she had yet to explore this area to any extent. Not one to pass up such an opportunity, she banked to the right to the first small plateau she could find, landing with a gentle chime of hooves and a flutter of her wings. Flapping them to bring order to the feathers, she folded the appendages to her back, nostrils flaring to drink the wind as her ears flicked forward, then back. She could sense the presence of others somewhere nearby, perhaps within the mountain itself. Still, that would not dissuade her in any sense.. She had landed to explore, and explore she would. Very little would make her hesitate, let alone chase her off for good. Silver hooves sang softly against the stone as she moved to a rather narrow path that twisted along the mountain's side, a path that the mountain goats were no doubt comfortable on, though Keshani herself had some doubt. Still, she was here, and here she would stay. There hadn't been enough time to see anything particularly interesting, or to let anything interesting see her... And she most certainly wasn't going to leave before that happened, if there was a chance of it. "Hmmm." She hummed softly to herself, considering the winding path she followed down toward the base of the mountain, wondering what would lay at it's end. Though, if nothing was there, she would simply return and see what the higher end of it held. Perhaps there were interesting crevasses into the peak itself? "Let us see what we shall find..."

High upon his perch, much farther up the mountain side, Valarauco stood. Staring down at the odd mare who had landed in his territory. He had been watching her for some time, wheither she knew it or not. Which she probably didn't. The large Kalona stallion had retreated long ago back to his firey mountain home. Disgusted with how the world was going.
Half-breeds were spreading like a plague. How his bretheren could couple with lessers was beyond him. Made him sick to even think of such things.
But enough of those thought for the moment. It was time to address the situation at hand for the time being. Firey eyes narrowed as he watched her take a path frequented by the goats that traveled though these lands. Spreading his large, leathery wings Valarauco soon took flight. Quickly diving downward. He was a seasoned enough flyer and knew these mountain winds well enough.
Circling about for a moment, he soon landed right in front of her on the path. His wings flareing out before folding quickly against his sides. A scowl coming to his dark lips as they curled back, revealing razor sharp teeth which he snapped a few times. "You tread in places you shoudn't be, half-breed." His voice was laced with a venom that was indescribable.
She might've had some Kalona features, but Valar knew her wings were wind wings. He'd torn such things apart many times in the past. And he knew exactly how she came to be.

Keshani was aware of being watched, and knew enough from the feeling to guess her observer was less than friendly. Not that a Kalona mare looked for friends in most cases, though she had wondered to herself if one or two might not be nice... A few Kalona mares to talk to? But then, most Kalona wanted nothing to do with a mixed-blood... No matter how Kalona she was from heart to hooves and everywhere but her wings, she still had to work to earn their mere consideration. If they ever came across her brother and did not know his blood, perhaps they would not question him. But Avant was cut from the same cloth as his sire, with only a marking or two from their mother to differentiate from Aveshar. She doubted Avant had as much trouble as she had just stumbled into. Silver eyes gleamed brightly, painting her cheeks with their soft radiance as she looked at the snarling stallion with unimpressed levity. Oh she did, did she? "A habit I picked up from my pure-bred father..." She retorted with a shrug of one wing and a flick of her spaded tail. "Turns out Kalonas have that tendency too." She did not fear him, but shifted on her hooves cautiously. The path was narrow, though her smaller frame gave her more maneuverability than his larger one. And though she had a bird's wings and more agility than most Kalona, his undoubted knowledge of the winds around this place gave him an advantage, as he was less likely to be dashed upon the rocks. "I wander in search of other Kalonas, and so I have found one." She flicked an ear, chin lifting slightly. "So then I am exactly where I have been searching to be, even if you do not want me here." A faint smile flashed over her muzzle. "Do you at least intend to offer your name before you attempt to pitch me off the mountainside, oh Burning One?"

Was she trying to gain some leverage, some sort of saving grace by throwing about the fact that her father was pure-blooded? It only made him even more on edge.
"Your father may be pure blood in looks, but in heart and pride is weak. I suppose bedding with a pure Kalona female was just too hard for him to accomplish. Way to settle for lesser." His spaded tail snapped back and forth as he took a quick step closer to her. Valar's large hoof crushing the dirt beneath them. Small bits of dirt and rock rolled off the edge of the path and down the cliff side as he moved. He had no fear of these mountains. They had been his home for a very long time. There was nothing about them that he did not know.
A wicked grin came to his lips, revealing dark, sharp teeth. For a moment he had to give her credit. Walking right into a lions den. Seeking out a Kalona, let a lone a pure blood such as him was risky business. Especially when dealing with Valarauco. "Only fools seek out pure bloods. And unlucky fools find me."
The wind swept his firey hair, sweeping it forward to frame his face in an almost flame. Of course, the Kalona stallion did not give his name lightly and more often than not he never did to those not of his kind or partials. They wouldn't live long enough to remember anyhow. "You want to know my name? You have to earn the right to know MY name."

Inwardly she sighed. She could almost hear the thoughts flying through his head. They all thought of her the same way. Then again, they all thought the same way. They were the only strength, the only power, the only greatness. And the rest? It was as nothing. Was there no other strength in the world than them, truly? She had to disagree. She'd seen foals with at least the redeemable quality of courage, even if they were nothing but groundwalkers. Her mother was yet another example, at least, before things had changed. That was a long time ago, but it still served as a reminder. It still made her think, had taught her something worthwhile. At the remark about her sire, she rolled her eyes. "Neither is true, oh Burning One. Both Heart and Pride are Strong and Well, though your concern is too kind." She curled her lip, but her voice was all sweetened honey. "He has no shortage of companions, should he wish them. I certainly don't have the time or need to defend his choices, you probably wouldn't care regardless. The short version of the tale is that is mate is not in this land, she is hunting elsewhere. Until she returns, I'm sure he has little use for what specimens of Kalona mares he find in this place." She shrugged, wings buffeted by a sharp slap of wind. For reasons undefined Keshani had always enjoyed the mountains, she liked the fierce changes and the reckless danger and the cold faces of rock rising up on all sides. Unwilling to lose herself in the mountains and perhaps her life to this stranger, she kept her attention focused on the stallion threatening her. But it really did get dull after awhile. "I must earn the right to it, you say." She murmured, tilting her head. "And how may I -an 'Unlucky Fool', as you say- do such a thing as to earn the right to your name, Great One?"
