This is a duel between Vice-Captain Yamazaki and Unseated member Jake Dean for 10th seat rank. The rules are as follows:
1. This is going to be a spar.
2. To get a rank, you must cut Sayuri or show great effort
3. Sayuri won't strike to kill, but you must make a effort.
4. No shikai
5. The spar must be between 7-15 posts long, eact post must atleast be a paragraph.
6. If you havn't hurt or impressed Sayuri by 10 posts you'll have to wait untill the next spar or mission to gain a seat.
The duel is taking place in a clearing in a forest about a mile away from Squad 13's training grounds. Here the grass rises to your waist and the trees are thick. To those who know this spot it is a great place to train in secret. The trees help to practice with your dodging and ambush skills while the tall grass helps you learn to step quietly.

The warm dusk sun kept Sayuri company as she waited for Dean-kun. Today the unseated member was being tested to see if he could gain a seat. I hope he gets here soon. I don't want to fight in the dark! the raven-haired shinigami thought calmly.Don't you ever stop complaining? Come on! Just enjoy the time you have before you start to fight! Sayuri's zanpakuto spirit, Awaihiko, thought happily. Although Awaihiko wouldn't say it, he was actually glad for a fight.
I left him a memo... Sayuri thought, ignoring her spirit's rude comment. Sighing, the vice-captain decited to lay doen in the waist tall grass. Maybe your right, Awai. I think I'll just watch the birds untill he comes....I hope he can see me though. The grass is tall here...

Jake began walking through this peaceful field reading the memo he recieved from Sayuri, "I hope she isnt mad at me" Jake began thinking to himself "Its so peaceful here" "To bad it wont be that way for long" Jake was very anxious to show his skills to Sayuri. He just wanted not to be seen as the needy, weak, and powerless unseated member of squad 13. He wanted to be known as someone who atleast a little bit powerfull.
Jake unshethed his sword and began sclicing some of the grass sorounding him, He just wanted to prepare himself before fighting the V-C Sayuri. Jake was walking peacefully when he suddenly over V-C Sayuri. Jake then stood up and said "What the...." "Oh Sayuri im so sorry for tripping over you and for being late, please forgive me" Jake then bowed in respect for V-C Sayuri.

Watching the clouds float by, Sayuri bairly noticed the arrival of the unseated member. I guess he's here now...time to get u-- Sayuri thought, but her thoughts were cut short by Jake tripping over her. "Jake-kun?!" Sayuri said shocked by his clumbsyness. I don't think he did it on purpose, so its ok for now i guess, but next time he does it he'll have to be scolded......
With this Sayuri stood up and dusted herself off. "Are you ready, Dean-kun? I'm not going to go easy on you!"Without waiting for his response Sayuri gracefully catapulted herself away from Jake, landed on a tree branch, and drew out her zanpakuto. Smiling, Sayuri lifted up her sword with her right hand and mearly said"On guard!"
"Hado number four! Byakurai! Sayuri yelled. She ran the electricity off her blade which was pointing towards the ground directly infront of Jake. Once the hado crashed into the ground dust rose and engulfed Jake. Sayuri then used shunpo to get behind Jake. Once behind Jake Sayuri whispered in his ear, "Watch out! Here it comes!"She then slashed towards his midsection. If he didn't dodge the fight would be over and he would be badly hurt.

(I fixed it)
Jake was not ready for Sayuri to dissapear to a branch and to perform a kido. As soon as the the dust appered jake heard Sayuri wisper in his ear "Watch out! Here it comes!" as she slashed at his midsection. Jake brought up his sword barely blocking the attack.He then jumped away and thought "Whew, that was a close one, but I cant let my guard down."
"I musnt give her another chance like that" Jake thought to himself. "I must at least get one hit, this is going to be very....interesting" Jake gripped his sword with a sense of power. "Im going to give everything ive got Sayuri!" Jake said as he began to run at her. "I just hope this works" He thought to himself. Jake then went to slash her shoulder.

"Is that it?!" Sayuri said as she efortlessly dodged the attack. He'll have to do better than that! Rushing up, Sayuri bent down next to Jake and whispered hottly"Hado number four! Byakurai!"As the hado lept from her middle and index finger Sayuri proptly twisted her body around and jumped up, her body untwisting as she once again landed on a tree branch. Placing her left hand against the tree Sayuri sighed. Come on, Jake-kun!"Come and get me!"
Carefully holding on to her zanpakuto, Sayuri lept up to the top branch of the tree, her black hair reflecting the colors of the brilliant sunset. I believe I have a moment now... Sayuri thought calmly as she closed her eyes. In her mind she saw herself running from a hollow. How long ago was that? she thought as a young shinigami came and destroyed the hollow. How far I've come...Aoi Opening her eyes, Sayuri smiled and saw Jake. Time to go...

"Crap" Jake said aloud "This isnt going well" Jake leaped and and grabbed the tree slowly pulling himself. "How the hell am i supposed to chase her." Jake jumped up to another branch. "Where the hell did she go" Jake looked up and saw Sayuri. Jake then jumped up and yelled, "Sayuri I must get at least one hit"
He then remembered how he couldnt not make a good hit on the hollow and became very afraid of what would happen next. "Snap out of it you musnt let that get to you" Jake thought to himself . Jake then landed on a branch and ran twords Sayuri and swung his left fist at her. "Ha a sneak attack" Jake thought to himself. He then swung his sword with his right hand as fast and as hard as possible.

Sayuri watched carefully as Jake rushed towards her, his left fist extended for a punch and his right hand clutching his zanpakuto. As Jake drew near Sayuri raised her hand in preparation for a hado, but a loud crack interupted her. What?! Sayuri thought as the section of the branch that she was on broke away from the tree, causing Sayuri to fall with it.
I better move.... Sayuri thought as she and the large tree branch started to fall. Sayuri, grabbing the branch and shifting her weight to stand on the branch, looked up towards Jake."Bye-Bye now~!" Sayuri said as she waved with her left hand. Turning her attention to the branch now, she lept to the tree trunk and then to the ground. What to do now.... Sayuri thought for a moment before an answer came to her mind. If her perch was taken away from her by Jake why shouldn't she do the same? "Hado number 4! Byakurai!"Sayuri yelled, music in her voice, as she aimed at the tree branch that Jake was on. With a loud crash the branch exploded, taking the unseated member's perch away from him. Sayuri smiled at her work, but she didn't know if the unseated member could find as safe a landing as she had.

Jake was completely surprised when he saw the branch under Sayuri. He was even more surprised when Sayuri fired her attack straight at him. Jake just barely moved out of the way of the beam. He was still hit him in the right arm which in turn knocked him off balacnse sending him in a downward spiral in to the tree.
Jake hit from branch to branch falling faster and faster. Jake fiannly hit the ground with a loud thump. Jake layed on the ground for a minute then slowly stood his feet with his head bent forward so that his hair coverd his face. Jake was coverd in bleeding cuts and bruses. His right arm was espically injured as it was soaked in blood from the elbow to his fingertips. Jake then grabbed his sword with his right and tightend his grip ready for an intense battle.
"Wow, i never though such a close friend would hurt me so bad" Jake said in a dark sarcastic way. Jake then took of his shoes as they were not helping in the fight at all. Jake then said "heh" right as he charged at Sayuri.
Jake was running the fastest he has in his life. Right as Jake arrived to sayuri he leaned in with his right foot and slashed in an upward manner

"Do you think I'm stupid?" Sayuri said angerly, all friendliness gone. To Sayuri a fight is a fight, no matter who you are fighting against, but there was only one difference, Sayuri would not stike to kill. Is he a fool? thought Sayuri as she efortlessly dodged his attack and at full speed slammed her Kashira into Jake's bloody elbow.
No matter how fast he runs, he can not out run me. Even if he is a friend, he must be taught how to fight, even if it means causing him harm. Elegantly, Sayuri grabbed the back of Jake's blade at a point where movement with it was impossible."Hado number eleven! Tsuzuri Raiden!" Sayuri yelled, her voice strong and threating. As the last sound lept from her lips electricity flowed towards Jake through his sword. The end is near Jake! You can't evade this!

Jake then felt the sheering pain of Sayuri's blade stabbed into his elbow. He wanted to let out a scream but held it in because he had to much anger in him at the moment. Jake wasnt ready for Sayuri to do her Kido but he knew which Kido this was so let go of his blade jumping away from her her sword leaving his elbow. Thus causing moreblood to spurt from his arm.
Jake was surprised at how pathetic he was doing against Sayuri. He was trying his hardest. "I have to do something quick" He thought Jake then began to plan a short but quick plan in his head hopeing it would help. Jake then thought to himself "Got it!" He then began to run at Sayuri. Jake then pointed his finger right at her face and yelled "Hadō #4 Byakurai!"

Sayuri used shunpo to get behind Jake as the unseated member releashed his spell and singed her hair in the process. What? Sayuri thought sadly as she took a quick look at her hair, now uneven due to the kido spell. Angry, but calming down, Sayuri jumped away from the unseated member.
What are you doing, Sayuri? Awaihiko said angerly, his voice echoing in her head. Awai, this isn't what I had in mind... Sayuri thought, her feelings mixed up.Than what did you expect? I don't know. I suppose I just got an idea in my head and held onto it...This is a mess... she thought, her voice raising and falling as she went through her emotions and looked around at the clearing. The tallest tree was mangled, its branches littering the ground. Enough! Lets...just end this, the right way Sayuri told herself and Awaihiko as she landed on the ground. Carefully, Sayuri threw Jake's zanpakuto towards him, but at a slight angle. It landed in the ground with a soft thump a few steps infront of Jake. She prepared for Jake's comming by taking up a low stance, but did nothing else except wait.

Jake watched his Kido completely miss Sayuri. "Crap crap crap!" Jake said as he turned around to see his sword thrown next to him. Jake didnt grab the sword right away. First he looked at his arm which was bleeding emensly and rubbed two fingers against it and rubbed them against his face.
"Im ready Sayuri" Jake said as he grabbed his sword from the ground. He then charged at her with the little bit of energy he has left. Jake was panting heavily by the time he got to her. Jake then began to do a combo that he never thought he could. Jake threw his sword down in front of Sayuri, then jumped off of it grabbing after leaping off. "This is my last shot" He then brought it down with a quick strike.

Sayuri's eyes were open, but she saw something that no one else could see, her past. She remembered her brother's rage, her death among the cherry blossoms, and the meeting of Aoi. Smiling lightly, Sayuri then saw her time at the academy, her friends dead and alive, and finally her captain. In Sayuri's head she saw her world. The sands of the garden lapped at her feet like waves and the wind blew her singed hair. Awaihiko, gleaming and more mature than he would show anyone else waited for Sayuri to speak. How trivial fighting seems to me now, but in order to stop the fighting, we must fight. I'm only going to fight back because Jake has potential... I understand, Sayuri. I'm by your side, always the spirit replied as he flew away, his feathers drifting towards her. The gleaming feathers surrounded Sayuri and their light enveloped Sayuri's mind.
Nearing footsteps brought Sayuri back to the fight at hand. Jake charged Sayuri with everything he had. His barrage was hard and fast, but not fast enough. Sayuri blocked the hits and turned towards him. As she was going to attack a slight tingle captured Sayuri's attention. The black-haired shinigami raised her left hand to her cheek bone and felt a warm liquid. What....? Sayuri thought wonderiously as she looked at her hand. Blood. Jake had cut her cheek. It wasn't enough to hurt badly, but it did sting. He really did it..... sayuri thought, a slight smile across her lips, but she wasn't quite done. She quickly cut across to hit Jake's cheek. She wanted a "cheek-for-a-cheek", but on differnt sides of their faces. She wasn't going to attack again, so she gracefully slid her zanpakuto back into her tsuba. She didn't know how Jake was going to react to her, so she began to slowly walk away as a breeze carried three cherry blossoms to her. One landed on her cheek and stayed on the line of dripping blood, the second landed in her hair and the third on her kashira. Sayuri gently grabbed the blossom in her hair and held it. The shinigami let out a relaxed sigh and slowly turned to smile at Jake, the blossom held out for Jake to take.

Jake stared in amazement as he saw that he actually cut Sayuri. "My final attacked worked" He thought to himself. Jake noticed that Sayuri was about to attack Jake, but suddenly she resheathed her sword. Jake just stared in pure shock. Jake was very confused as she began to walk away slowly and calmy. Jake noticed the three cherry blossoms that fell twoards her.
Jake saw one stick to her face, one land in her hair, and one on her kashira. She then let out a sigh as she held the one that was in her out for Jake to have. Jake was very happy for this gift so he put his sword. He then walked over to her and took the cherry blossom. Jake then said "Thank you" "That was a great bat........." Jake couldnt finish his sentence because he fainted from loss of energy and blood.
