Tarishi & Hermes: Tarishi, goddess of messengers and really any other form of news spreading and such, was tired. Since the problems at the pride where she was being raised, she had been traveling, mostly by flight, with her faithful companion, Hermes. Both experienced fliers despite their young ages, they were soaring high, but still below the sparse clouds in the clear blue of the sky. Sun beating down on golden wings, Tari curled them slightly, angling herself downwards. They had been traveling over a desert, but there was an oasis just below them, with trees and a pool and just too enticing to pass up.
Hermes followed, the pair landing just on the edge of the grasses and heading slowly towards the sparkling pool.
Rama: It was no small miracle that the little golden-winged goddess' presense went unnoticed. The world around him was of little concern to Rama. On his own, he was a level-headed individual with a silver tongue and a sharp wit to back it up. He, too, traveled frequently though his purpose was less duty and more self indulgence. Where the young goddess traveled for news, he traveled for followers and adoration. Lovely, tender hearts he could cradle- then leave broken in his wake.
The god laid stretched out beside the small pool, his eyes half-lidded as he admired the reflection beside him.
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari was half-asleep by the time she got to the edge of the water and she wasn't very perceptive, so she completely missed the god a little ways down the bank. She padded to the water and flopped on the bank, her paw dangling in the water. Her companion, however, did not. Hermes stalked to her side, keeping an eye on the god as he nudged his goddess lightly. "C'mon, babe," the young raptor whispered. Tari sighed and dipped her head into the water a bit, taking a few laps at the cool water. Feeling a bit more refreshed, she set her head on her paws while Hermes took a drink, too, still watching the older god.
Rama: Rama 's self worship was soon broken by a white blotch in the corner of his eye. The older god lifted his head up, ears rolling forward just so, chin lifting up just enough, and shoulders rolling back ever so slightly. Everything was a rehersed, poised movement. He couldn't even for a moment, look sloppy, unsure, or unprepared.
He tipped his head, sending his mane slowly over one eye as he studied the young female. Golden hair complementing the pearly white body- very nice. The wings, golden, not a bad touch. The rainbow paws- a little much for him but females always did try so hard to stand out. All in all, she was easy on the eyes. Not too much younger than him either.
A silky smile spread over his maw as he leaned his chin on the back of his paw. "So you have come to my oasis I see. A wise choice. Once you have seen all that is here, you have seen all that needs to be seen."
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari glanced up and over at the sound of another's voice, blinking while the other god spoke. He was an attractive male, who seemed to take a lot of stock in his appearance as not a single strand was out of place and he had that low, charming tone to his voice, the one that Hermie used often with the pretty female raptors they met. Speaking of, her companion glanced once more at the god before settling down beside her and began preening her wings.
The young goddess smiled sweetly at the male and narrowed her eyes a bit in thought. "You must be... Egotism?" she asked, her voice a little high pitched and airy.
Rama: Rama laughed and brought a paw to his chest. His laugh was light-hearted enough but it seemed somewhat empty. "Oh is it that obvious?" He brought a paw up to brush the mane from his face. "I suppose word gets around quickly. My curse! Soon I will have to beat them off with a stick, for there can only be one of me. I weep for the world."
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari's tired smile widened a bit and she slowly shook her head a couple times. "Oh no, not at all. I'm just good at guessing domains," she explained before she settled her eyes back on the god. "It's totally helpful when I need to, like, tell others about who I've met and all that," she added, scooting slightly so that she was more at an angle to the water and could be comfortable while she faced the god. This disturbed Hermes' ministrations, but the long-legged bird didn't seem to take offense, simply stood and moved with her so that he could resettle and continue with his grooming. "It's a totally gorgeous oasis, though. Is it really all yours?"
Rama: The male's smile never faded though his eyes seemed to loose the eager sparkle from before. He'd just given her a very wide, very obvious opening to worship him and she'd completely missed it. The nerve! Perhaps he wasn't trying hard enough.
Wait. Of course he was trying hard enough! There was never a time when his efforts weren't wrapped in complete and absolute, unquestionable perfection.
"No." He answered simply. "I am a drifter. I cannot linger in any one place and deprive the rest of the world my presense. It would be a crime."
Tarishi & Hermes: "Oh, that's totally a pity. This is, like, such a nice place. If I didn't have to run about taking messages from place to place," oh, she made it sound so horrible and yet she adored spreading news and hearing it in return, "I would totally find a place like this to stay." She looked around at the oasis with an almost blissful look on her face. It reminded her a bit of the lushness that had been her old home, before the incident, and yet it was new and different. She liked that too. But back to the god before her.
She added a small pout to her tone, returning her gaze to him. "And if you travel about, that totally makes it more difficult to find you again. You seem like a fun male and totally a treat for the eyes." Not so perceptive at first, but a silver-tongued little lady was Messengers, once she got going.
Rama: Rama could have squealed. In the back of his mind, he might as well have been doing cartwheels and summersaults- she'd complemented him! She'd finally taken notice of his spleandid and inmistakable perfection! A treat for the eyes? Hell, he was a gourmet buffet!
Without noticing, his chest had swollen, displaying a thick ruff of fur.
But then... of course it made him harder to find! To leave a trail of broken hearts behind him... a shadow lover, known and loved by hundreds! It was his dream.
"Ohh I would always return to that...especial lady you know~" He assured her, his voice like sweet honey. Of course- he'd return if he felt the female still adored him. It was just in his nature.
Tarishi & Hermes: Hermes rolled his eyes a bit at the god and tweaked one of Tari's feathers, trying to give her the hint to be careful and not lead him on too far. She simply replied by curling her tail gently around her friend. She liked seeing the male puff up, it was a rather amusing sight. And if she had female friends to talk to, she would surely tell them all about Egotism. "Oh? And, like, what would make a special lady?" she asked sweetly, her attention seemingly focused on him, all the while wondering how much he would tell. If Secrets was around, he/she would surely hate the daughter of Pleasure.
Rama: Rama chuckled pleasantly and leaned back against his paw. "Well I suppose... that depends on the lady. Now I consider myself as one with an especially good eye for beauty. A special lady has to be beautiful~ Easy on the eyes...but also...soft and gentle. LIke...the petals of a flower. Deep eyes, a charming smile, the voice of an angel, and of course..."
He sat himself up and took a deep breath, "She must aknowlege my...obvious charms."
Tarishi & Hermes: Oh, how sad. He was egotism, after all, but it would be nice to forget. He was the first other civil god she'd met since leaving and she had hoped she might be able to spend some time with him, if only to be among her own kind for a bit. But he was completely and utterly into himself from what she was gathering, something she could forgive him for but not ignore.
"She sounds totally dream-like. I hope you find her someday," she replied, tilting her head a bit and letting her eyelids drop a fraction.
Rama: He lifted his brows and slowly extended a paw, <"Well... I am not adverse to ...seeking her out in all the lovlies I encounter. You're a little young, perhaps. But you'll grow. You are, afterall, only a few months younger than I? At best?"
He brushed some of the mane from his eye and sighed softly. "I would never turn down the company of a pretty one."
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari lifted her head so that she could reach her own paw up and touch it to his. "Perhaps a bit younger, but I totally never feel it. I, like, keep myself when I'm reborn, you know? Not my memories, but how I act and stuff. Sometimes, I totally forget how young I am," she explained, setting her paw back down, along with her tired head. A nap would be nice, but she wasn't sure she would get one around this god.
Rama: He brought her paw up to his maw and offered her a short lick. A gesture, surely, that would win her over. At least into admiring him further. Complements and attention sent him into a high and, unfortunately, had him craving more and more of it.
"Ah, a rebirthing. I fear my own...end." He admitted with a sigh, "How could I possibly become any more perfect? Well... once my mane grows in fully. What a sight I'll be!"

Tarishi & Hermes: Tari smiled at the charming gesture. If she wasn't careful, he could charm her paws right out from under her and she couldn't have that. She had a job to do, after all. "I don't think it's really all that bad. Like, it's totally a bother having to play catch-up, but it's totally nice to mix things up a bit in appearance and all that." Of course, for her it didn't matter. She was often changing her appearance to suit the places she went. She didn't want to be ignored or run out when she had something important to say just because she looked "wrong" to them.
"Well, like, maybe your wouldn't be more perfect, but totally the same at least. Just in a different way, you know?" She tilted her head a little and smiled up at him. He was charming, but the ego would likely get a old over time.
Rama: He chuckled and shrugged. Not that he would know, his job wasn't exactly the most difficult of the gods. There were some that traveled their entire lives, others that had to over see this and that, still others that had specific roles to fill, blessings and curses to hand out. He had only himself to focus on, and he'd not have it any other way.
"I do not think such a thing could ever happen." He honestly couldn't think of a single feature he would change about himself, it simply wasn't in his nature.
"Well...are you so pressed for time that you cannot enjoy my company further? What a pity that would be."
Tarishi & Hermes: Hermes cleared his throat to get Tari's attention, giving her a slightly concerned look when the god asked if she was pressed for time. She considered the look for a moment, as well as her options and sighed a bit. "Well, yes and no. I was on my way to some of the pridelands I remember, to see what has changed and totally stopped here for a rest. I, like, forgot that I don't have as much stamina-slash-power as I used to 'cause I'm still little. I'll strengthen up soon though, I think," she explained, though she really didn't answer his question at all.
And she realized it, too. She made a face by wrinkling her nose a bit before waving one paw slightly. "I totally meant to say that I need to rest, and like not talk so much, but I can totally bask in the glow of your charming company if you don't mind if I doze a bit." Good idea, work the compliments.
Rama: Rama opened one of his wings and gave it a short flap. "A shame... if you had bene born with wings like my own, you may not be as tired. I suppose with some work, you can build them up, you are still very young."
He closed his wing and settled himself down on the ground, stretching himself out gracefully, and comfortably. "Very good, come, you may join me. We can at least enjoy eachother's company. Tell me a little more about yourself."
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari crawled over to lie next to him, smiling. "They're, like, not really made for power. My wings are totally, like, big-time fast," she explained, though she couldn't really elaborate without a demonstration. Hermes moved to settle on her other side and returned to fixing up her mane.
"Well, I was born in a sea-side pride and my mom, like, totally left me there. I don't know who my dad is, so finding him is on the agenda. There was a big commotion not long ago and I got out of there real quick-like. Besides, they totally wouldn't have let me go look at the other prides until I was older and I needed to start asap." She wasn't sure if it was a very good little story, or if he even heard most of it. Her voice was kind of soft right then, so she wasn't entirely sure.
Rama: Rama contained a wince. 'Like totally' this, 'like totally' that... he'd never in his life heard anyone speak like that. then again- there was mention of his own accent. Some found it a little strange, he cound it quiet charming.
"Ah I see. A broken family, what a sad tale." He brushed the mane from his face. Of course, his own family wasn't in the best of shape. Apparently his father had the hots for a mortal, there was some drama with his older siblings, and gods knew where his littermates had run off to. "Well I do wish you luck finding your father. If you don't mind my asking, who is your mother?"
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari shrugged, a pensive look replacing the smile on her face. "Don't really know. I can't really remember her and the oracles either didn't know or just didn't tell me. I don't even know if there's any of them left alive, so unless I find her and, like, get a spark or something, I guess I'll never know." She didn't like talking about her mother, not really. She could make herself think that her father just didn't know about her. But her mother... She had birthed her and left her with the mortals. On purpose. And didn't even bother to say why.
At least she knew something about her father. The feathers tucked behind her ear had once been his, so she had at least some clue. Unless he'd died. Which she hoped not. Hermes also knew her problems concerning her mother and she was comforted to feel him kinda nuzzle the side of her head, by her ear, as he gently groomed her. "What about your family?" she asked, trying to get the conversation away from her.
Rama: "Wait wait..." He waved a paw in the air, his brow creasing. "You...were raised by the mortal ones? Why...or how? I have never heard of a thing. Now, I can see a god raising a mortal, they are...pitiful, short-lived things that lack sense in every aspect of their being. "
He cleared his throat and glanced off to the side. "Ah my family is complicated. There is a lot of drama... I suppose it comes with the job. I am fortunate."
Tarishi & Hermes: Tari nodded. "There's a pride that is very clever and intelligent and they help raise gods, like when they're reborn and stuff. Apparently they've been doing it for a while, so I must be longer gone than I thought. I wonder if there are any messengers left," she sighed with a small pout. Had she been forgotten? She wasn't completely, because the Neled believed in her and she felt some lingering devotion to her domain, but it wasn't like in the old days.
"Drama comes with the job? Difficult domains?"
Rama: That didn't sound normal at all. Why would gods let mortals raise their young? Then again, raising children was quite a hastle. It might work if one didn't want to be tied down, especially if they were one of the more busy gods- or a god like him who simply couldn't be bothered with something as potentially messy as raising cubs.
"My father is the god of pride, he has fallen in love with a mortal. Mother has her hands full with all of us. From what I hear, there is some strife among my older siblings. My brother is never anywhere to be seen. I think my sister has a mate now but that is...only a rumor."
Tarishi & Hermes: "Ah, well that does sound... Kinda dramatic. I guess I wouldn't want to trade you," Tari replied with a small laugh which sounded more like a sigh. She really did need a nap. "Mortals aren't so bad..." she murmured, catching a hint in his tone whenever he used the word. She let her eyes close, ready to listen to whatever he had to say, but she was out as soon as her eyelids shut.
Hermes knew the difference between resting and sleeping Tari and he knew the moment she dozed off. "Don't wake her up and you can stay. Wake her and there'll be trouble," the tall raptor said to the god, completely outmatched, but unafraid. He was a dutiful servant to his goddess and would see that nothing disturbed her rest for no reason other than imminent danger. Besides. Tari could be quite a fury when she put her mind to it, so the trouble wouldn't all be from him.
Rama: Rama shrugged. Family was family, you didn't get to choose them. Besides, he was almost old enough to take care of himself, their troubles were their own. So long as his hair was neat, his feathers were preened, they could do whatever they liked.
As the goddess began drifting off he snapped his mouth shut and glanced over to the bird. It was...kind of cute. A creature that would otherwise become his lunch giving him lip. Or ...beak.
He shrugged and slowly laid his head on his paws. "Might as well get a beauty rest myself."
