I've been curious to see what everyone here thinks about all the characters! So, without further ado, I shall begin:
Alucard- I like Alucard mainly for the massive amounts of pwn he inflicts upon everyone and everything. XD HE DON'T GIVE NO s**t dramallama
Integra Hellsing- I like Integra quite a bit. She's badass, and doesn't take any s**t from anybody.
Walter C. Dornez- Oh man, I LOVE Walter. heart He's my favourite character. Pfff, he has the perfect personality. A true gentleman, elegant, and a tough b*****d. Not to mention he's sexy as hell.
Pip Bernadotte- Gotta love Pip. He's a horny b*****d, but I love him for that. Love the braid.
Seras Victoria- Seras is really sweet and kind, however quite innocent (EVEN THOUGH SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT, LOL). I love how she transforms throughout the series.
Sir Penwood- Uppity dude. But admirable in the end.
Father Alexander Anderson- My second favourite character. I adore batshit insane, yet extremely loving personality. Add the Scottish accent, and you got the most epic priest ever.
Father Enrico Maxwell- Lol, Maxwell is such a b***h. But that's apart of why I like him so much! And those facial expressions of his. Epic win, in my book. AND POOR LITTLE MAXWELL ; ; ffff, his background story is so sad!
Yumie Takagi- CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYY b***h
Heinkel Wolfe- Wtf, what was Heinkel? A man? A woman? DICKGIRL? Who knows. But she/he was pretty good gunsman/woman.
Father Renaldo Eh, no one cares about Renaldo. dramallama
Herr Major- Fat Nazi b*****d. Rambling. You gotta dig the hair! Or should I say, HAAR.
Doktor- Christ on a cracker is that ******** weird. I mean...have you ever seen a character designed like that? Ultimate creepy doctor. You can't top Dok.
Schödinger- Nazi Cat Boy. Smug little b*****d. I gotta admit he was cute though. Pff.
Rip Van Winkle- Opera wumun, that she is. Her gun is pretty amazing, and I love her crazy hair. Painful death; imagine being symbolically raped by your own rifle by having it slowly shoved through your stomach. PAIN CITYYYY HERE WE COME
Hans- ...
Zorin Blitz I. HATE. ZORIN. SO MUCH. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF She is the ultimate b***h. No contest. Hands down. I'd say she's more evil than Herr Major. And yes, I lol'd when Seras basically grated her face off. She certainly deserved it.
Alahambra Some random Mexican or some s**t like that, I DUNNO
Luke Valentine- Elegant, but I gotta admit, I lol'd when Alucard pwn'd him.
Jan Valentine- THAT ******** WAS PRETTY ******** AWESOME. I ******** LOVE HOW THAT SHITHEAD SWEARED EVERY GODDAMN ******** SENTENCE. ******** YES.
And....I think that's about it. It's your turn now!

...That's a bunch of characters...but sure~
Alucard: Personally, I feel this guy overdoes the "immortal and invinsible" thing. He was too harsh to his victims in my opinion. :/ I don't know. I tend to ignore Alucard. I don't really care for him as much as I did.
Integra: Oh my goodness. I love her to death, but I adore strong women like her in general. She doesn't put up with anything from everyone and tries to remain strong in front of others despite the discrimination she gets for being a woman. She a woman who deserves respect. ;D
Seras: I never loved her. She was too sweet, kind, and gentle there in the beginning. She did get better once she accepted her fate. The worse thing about her was how she was portrayed in the original anime. Still, she was a strong woman in the manga/OVA, which is something I adore in female characters.
Walter: I loved him and still love him, but I was devastated and frustrated when he turned against everyone in the end. It's hard to picture the Walter from volume 2 with the Walter from volume 9.
Pip: He's great. I loved his personality, his emotional and physical strength, and his ability to be a complete gentleman one moment and a perv the next.
Penwood: Poor Penwood had no backbone. He was such a weak little guy, and I felt bad for him...he got bullied by a little girl. Dx I'll admit, I cried when he died in the OVA because I'm sensitive to things like that.
Arthur: Good Lord. He might just be my favorite character in The Dawn. He's pervy, countercultural, a drunkard--yet for the most part, the other characters still respect him in one way or another.
Islands: He's great because he can put up with crap from Arthur.
Anderson: It's hard not to like this guy. He goes from being such a sweet fatherly type to the "kill everything that is undead or non-Catholic" type rather quickly. By the end of his life, I realized there is more to him than what meets the eye. He has depth and a gruesome past. Practically killing his own pupil had to be tough on him so I honestly can't blame him for giving up moments before his ultimate victory.
Maxwell: ...Need I say? The guy has no redeeming qualities practically at all, but yet, he can malipulate others to reveal their true intentions, follow his lead against Death itself, and even gain the full trust of the Pope at the level of priest (in the case of Crossfire). He's insane and borderline genius. I wish he would have stuck around much longer.
Yumie/Heinkel: These two make a great team. I love Yumie's split personality. I felt Hirano handled it very well despite Yumiko's short appearances in Crossfire and almost nonexistence in Hellsing. Heinkel is much more respectable than the rest of Iscariot in the means that s/he did not give up like Anderson after Iscariot's loss, s/he did not take risks like Yumie than would lead to an inevitable death, and s/he did not completely lose her sanity like Maxwell.
M'Quve/Renaldo: M'Quve was possibly the nicest, most reasonable character in Iscariot...yet there was not much of him unfortunately. :/ As for Renaldo, there wasn't much for me to love or hate.
Captain: Short temper. Little noticeable personality. Dern near emotionless. Yet I still loved him.
Major: Oh dear, best villian I've read about in ANY type of literature. Insane yet...not insane. When he first declares war, he says there is "a lack of purpose" as to why he does such a thing...yet afterwards, he gives us a clearer, more logical reason. Yet another borderline genius. I only wish he would have won in the end.
Dok: ...I loved his obsession with SHE. That's possibly the only thing other than his design that I love about him, but that's all I need. :3
Schrodinger: He was so cute, yet such a little weasel. Kind of reminds me of younger Walter in a way except Schro never stoops to the level Walter did when he betrayed his friends, country, race...everything...
Rip van Winkle: She was such a little diva. Shy one moment, egotistical the next. Cute and saintlike to a little demon. She's great...and the opera does her character much justice. ;D
Zorin: I love everything about her except her intense cruelity. Her death was perfect as well.
Alahambra: ...I was pretty much indifferent about him.
Valentine Brothers: Both bother me to no end. Jan was just a punk, and Luke needed to get a grip of his ego. Yet, I do love Luke.

Alucard- He's pretty much the most BA anime character ever. Not just because of how awesome he is at wielding guns and putting his hand through the chest of a FREAK to destroy his heart, he's also one of the most developed characters. He still has a few shreds of humanity left and realizes he's a monster. I admire him for that, since he seemed so proud at the beginning of the series. Did I mention he's also damn sexy? Ah loves me that voice. dramallama
Integra Hellsing- She's also very well-developed. She goes from nearly no signs of emotion to nearly crying when ordering her vampire to kill Walter. Tear-jerker moment right there. And I was happy that she at least puts up with Alu's twisted romantic advances towards the end. Maybe it's cuz she is too preoccupied with whats going on around her but at least she doesnt scream 'idiot' at him, lol.
Walter C. Dornez- Walter's pretty great. Though the fact that he smoked when he was 14 makes me wonder why he didn't die of lung disease before this point... I pretty much absolutely loved him till the 9th volume. Waltervamp is not ok. I gotta agree with Alu- Walter's ugly as a vampire! He was so loyal to Integra before that, though. Making her afternoon tea even during her operation. It showed just how dedicated he was.
Pip Bernadotte- Pip's pretty great. I thought he was a total dumbass at first, but he gets better. It helps that they elaborated on his past so we can see he isn't just some shallow pervert bent on tapping Seras, but rather a sensible (ok, somewhat sensible) guy just doing what he does best. I admire him for that, and his indomitable spirit. He's still bossing Seras around even after he's dead! 3nodding
Seras Victoria- I gotta say, even with Zorin's look into her memory as a child, I still don't like her too much. She didn't become jaded like I thought she should. She means well but gets annoying and clings too desperately to her already-gone humanity. Personally I would've made her adjust quicker, or at least find some sort of Alucardly wisdom (IE wisdom on attitude towards battle). Perhaps in the 8th OVA she will get better.
Sir Penwood- Lol he is so freakin' awesome. I wish they'd done more with this guy. He reminds me of a bulldog; rather chubby with fierce loyalty and bravery, but also very kind-hearted and a little foolish at times. He went down as a hero in my book. RIP you lil' bulldog man, you.
Father Alexander Anderson- Half the time I love him to bits, the other half I wanna smack him upside the head. He's so cool with his irish accent and silver blades that make Seras tremble in her boots, but he gets annoying, having to come in and think he's gonna beat Alu's a**, only to find out he was wrong. so, horribly, wrong. His final moments were rather touching and pathetic at the same time (are you getting the love/hate vibe, too? biggrin ). You can obviously tell he's still human in mindset, but the ship has already sailed by the time he hears the children playing and laughing. He's passed the point of no return at which children should have meant nothing for him anymore.
Father Enrico Maxwell- We all know he's gay. wink BUT WE LOVE THE LIL' b*****d ANYWAY! I felt he needed more development than just that flashback to when he was a child. He seems so one-dimensional even with the flashback, as a power-hungry crazyman bent on killing Integra. I also found it interesting that Anderson was a father figure to him as a child, but now Andy works for Enrico. That makes me think Enrico lost himself along the way on his quest for power over the Iscariot.
Yumie Takagi- ugh, she is a perfect example of Hirano's one flaw; introducing characters too late in the story and barely mentioning their name before their head gets blown off. All I really know is that she's bipolar and works for Iscariot. Where did she come from? How did she get that way? Where did she learn to fight with a katana so well? CURSE YOU, QUESTIONS THAT WILL NEVER BE ANSWERED!! crying It's like Hirano was feeling homesick just writing this series, and put a Japanese person in to feel better. razz
Heinkel Wolfe- I think it's a guy. I think.
Father Renaldo I'm not sure what happened to him. It looks like Hirano was gonna do more with him but kinda forgot. He makes a good witch doctor (if you've ever seen that AMV on youtube).
Herr Major- I love Major so much. He's so short and fat! Just like Hitlers!! He was developed surprisingly well. I loved the fact that we get to see that he isn't completely crazy in volume 9, how he still holds his own humanity, not letting anyone steal it from him. He's got a lot more willpower than it seems he lets on. He starts out as some crazy, rambling fat nazi, who was taken seriously by prolly none of the readers at first. But he is, in fact, competent. He and Integra are really the only ones who know what they're doing, in the end. Not even Alu knows exactly, cuz I feel his mind is still clouded with hate and fear of himself as a vampire.
Doktor- Guh, he reminds me of Dr. Mengele from the Auschwitz camp every time I see him. D:< He's the one character that creeps me out a bit. But he and Schro seem to have a quirky relationship. I like it.
Schödinger- eeeeeee!!! cutest little guy ever!! I just wanna huggle him and pet his ears! whee It also came as a huge surprise to me that he would be Alu's last kill. That kitty holds more power than Alu, being able to be everywhere and nowhere at once, but I still never wouldve guessed. I figured that the classic werewolf vs. vampire would do Alu in.
Rip Van Winkle- She's so awesome. If I had black hair, I'd totally cosplay as her. She's like my brain twin. Immature on the surface, but completely determined and evil on the inside!! And she has a rifle. Pretty rifle. Sooooo prettyyyyyyyy...
Hans- dawwwww, lookit da werewolfie!! -glomp- However the fact that neither him nor Jacob Black seem capable of wearing a shirt kinda concerns me. XD And Hans needs a belt. BADLY. Werewolf pubes are like, at the bottom of my list of things to see in my lifetime, thank you very much.
Zorin Blitz lol, I'm not ashamed to admit that I didn't know Zorin was female wher I first read the manga. She fugly and I'm glad she died.
Alahambra Who can take some playing cards, spinkle 'em with doom, cover em with sheer pain and some agony as well, THE DANDY MAN CAN!!
Luke Valentine- He was so cool. Then he got shot in the leg and eaten by a doggie!
Jan Valentine- I thought he was ok. The fact that he wanted to rape Integra was not ok. But then he got burned to a crisp. 3nodding

*~: Alucard :~* A very interesting character, though I've never really been into him.His personality and character is fascinating, but before you get to all that he just comes off as predictable."Oh look,it's Alucard!I wonder what he's going to do?Oh,slaughter people? I totally didn't see that coming!" Now like I said,I know there's so much more to him than just that, but he wasn't the one to immediately grab my attention.
*~: Integra Hellsing :~* Okay, I am going to be perfectly honest: This woman is amazing. She's so strong and intelligent but still manages to keep her femininity. She's very independent but doesn't act like one of those men hating feminists. There's so much that can be said about her, she's just an all around wonderful character.
*~: Walter C. Dornez :~* *Sigh*...Walter. I love him. You'll find me saying this often about the Hellsing characters, but he's just so interesting. He's so human with all his flaws, and yet you can tell that he truly loved Integra and Seras. Maybe even Alucard. I love characters that aren't evil or good. And I know that Walter betrayed Hellsing and tried to kill Alucard and all but still, I don't think he was evil. Just Human.
*~: Pip Bernadotte :~* I.LOVE.PIP. What a great character! So funny and endearing but also so noble and brave. A great man. A tactless and pervy french mercenary who ends up sacrificing himself for the woman he loves...What's not to love? And what about his relationship with his geese? Didn't there seem to be so much brotherly love and comradery about them? Pip is just so great. I love him to pieces.
*~: Seras Victoria :~* I.LOVE.SERAS. She and Pip make my favorite characters from the series. She herself is just amazing. I will never understand why some people hate her. She had her friends slaughtered right in front of her and was about to be raped and murdered herself, than gets a bullet through her chest and becomes a vampire. All in one night. She was such a good girl and she was afraid of becoming a monster. The same kind of monster that killed her friends. But she didn't cry about it and did everything she was told without question. She's just so brave. Can you imagine going through everything she did? Anyone who says they could do better than she did is a liar.
*~: Sir Penwood :~* Another painfully human character, but such an incredible man. He sort of reminded me of how I would act if was surrounded by a bunch of homicidal wierdos.xD I think I'd be freaked out too! But in the end, he showed himself to be a very brave man who looked out for Integra untill the very end.
*~: Father Alexander Anderson :~* What can I say about Anderson that hasn't already been said?Such a kickass character. He's not meant to be human exactly, and yet you can see his compassion for Maxwell and Heinkel and Yumie...Like every other character in Hellsing, there are a million different ways to look at his character. Very cool.
*~: Father Enrico Maxwell :~* FFFFFFF- Poor Maxwell! gonk What a tragic charater he was! He felt he had nothing and no one,he must have been so lonely...not realizing Father Anderson was there all along wanting to help him. I think he was just horribly misguided. Poor thing.
*~: Yumie Takagi :~* I really wish we has gotten to know Yumie a little better.I love her charater design,so cute! xD And really, a sword yielding nun? That's pretty great.
*~: Heinkel Wolfe :~* Heinkel too. We really didn't get to know him/her. I thought it was interesting that Hirano put an adrogynous character into the series...Was he/she created maybe? Well in any case, he/she was a really cool character.
*~: Father Renaldo :~* ....I'm so sorry, but I'm drawing a blank. Who was that again?
*~: Herr Major :~* Goodgoodgood villain! The best! He was very intelligent and yet his goal was so simple. All he wanted was war. And what's funny is that you wouldn't have expected all his havoc and mayhem from such a jolly little fat man. And doesn't it seem that if he wasn't such a blood thirsty war monger that he'd be a totally cool guy?xD
*~: Doktor :~* Shro's daddy. Dressed like a total slut.xD But I like Doktor. I don't think he got enough screen/panel time.
*~: Schrodinger :~ Cutie! But so powerful! Who would have guessed that he was so formidable? The way Hirano portrayed him, you thought that he was just some cute little mascot! Now that's good story telling! I love unexpected surprises!
*:~ Rip van Winkle :~* Also a cutie! And I could listen to her sing all day. Such a beautiful voice. I wish she could've stuck around for a little longer, but she served her purpose. Providing Alucard with a ship I mean and in doing so kept him busy for a little while so the other characters could have some spotlight and development. And besides, I liked her death.
*~: Hans :~* Another character that I wished got a little more panel time. He never said a word and yet by the end he basically gave Seras the win. Now why would he do that? He's rather interesting to think about...
*~: Zorin Blitz :~* I love Zorin. She created such an emotional atmosphere for Pip and Seras,it was beautiful. Pip had my favorite anime/manga death of all time, so dramatic and sweet. And of course she's the cause for Seras's transformation to big girl vampire. She was vital to the story and a cool and heartless villainess.
*~: Alahambra :~* Dandy man! Poor guy.xD He got his a** wooped pretty bad, huh? He wasn't really around for very long at all, but he was still pretty cool. His character design was neato.
*~: Luke Valentine :~* Gah,poor Luke! He thought he was so cool,it was cute. "Hah! I'm gonna git'chu Alucard! Cause I'm so awesome! >= D " And then he got eaten. By a doggie. I liked him.
*~: Jan Valentine :~* You know what? Jan is just one of those characters that I should hate because he was just an absolute douchebag. And yet I can't help but like him.xD I don't know why, I just do.

KittyxKarat *~: Walter C. Dornez :~* *Sigh*...Walter. I love him. You'll find me saying this often about the Hellsing characters, but he's just so interesting. And I know that Walter betrayed Hellsing and tried to kill Alucard and all but still, I don't think he was evil. Just Human. Walter did love Integra and Seras, but he hated Alucard with a passion. It's made quite apparent through their actions in The Dawn (Walter kicking Alucard's coffin, abandoning each other, mocking dialogue) that they've always hated each other, and it all comes full circle in Hellsing. In the end, Walter was afraid of growing old and useless, so he betrayed Hellsing and became a vampire to kill Alucard, who he saw as his replacement. He wanted to reaffirm his own worth, and he didn't care who he had to hurt to do it (his betrayal resulted in the deaths of the entire Hellsing membership, save for himself and Integra, in Volume 2). Other than his feelings for Integra and Seras, his only real redeeming quality was that he realized how pathetic he really was before he died. KittyxKarat *~: Father Renaldo :~* ....I'm so sorry, but I'm drawing a blank. Who was that again? He was the old priest with the mustache and glasses that spoke to Anderson in Volume 1 and accompanied Maxwell to the Imperial War Museum in Volume 2. After that, he never appears again. KittyxKarat *~: Herr Major :~* Goodgoodgood villain! The best! He was very intelligent and yet his goal was so simple. All he wanted was war. And what's funny is that you wouldn't have expected all his havoc and mayhem from such a jolly little fat man. And doesn't it seem that if he wasn't such a blood thirsty war monger that he'd be a totally cool guy?xD Yeah, if you think "a totally cool guy" is someone who is ready, willing, and able to use everyone around him to get what he wants, and to shoot you (or have somebody else shoot you, since his aim is ridiculously bad) if you don't agree with him. stare KittyxKarat *~: Hans :~* Another character that I wished got a little more panel time. He never said a word and yet by the end he basically gave Seras the win. Now why would he do that? He's rather interesting to think about... Isn't it obvious? The Captain wanted to die. It becomes even more apparent in the final version of Volume 10, in which he himself provides Seras/Pip with the silver tooth they use to kill him. KittyxKarat *~: Zorin Blitz :~* I love Zorin. At least someone's giving Zorin the respect she deserves. biggrin

Alucard:A favorite character He's cool and a badass but needs a lot theropy. Integra:I had to explain to a freind that she was a woman but seems to know what she's doing. Walter:He was always cool to me can't say I like what he did to Andersons remains not fun not fun at all. Pip:Well I can't really rember when he's called Pip but he changes after the fisrt time you see him one is he randomly gets a French accent. The first time he apperaerd he didn't have it but later on it pops out of nowhere not to mention his last name changes. Seras:Well shes different things like one is a comic relif, and a main character. And people say her breasts are unrealistic they obvoislly haven't wacthed Bleach. Seems to swicth between badass mode to not really but then just stays badass as far as I know of. Penwood:Seems like a coward but won my respect in the end yet I though I saw him in the Rio parts as a corrupt officer but apperently it wasen't. Father Anderson:Ill be honest I can have a hard time understanding what he says in the manga and a better kind of perist then the type we make jokes about today. He is awsome to bad he drops dead. Maxwell:Ok I know I should feel bad for him but that guy...horrible horrible man hes like "Oh hey a bunch of people who can't protect themselfs....KILL THEM ALL OF THEM!!!!" I respect him a little but after what he did it dropped alot. Yumie:Seemed cool but we know pretty much nothing about her. Heinkel:Same as Yumie only lives longer. Major:Ya well hes like Alucard only just dosen't move as much. Doktor:Ya...his outfit speaks for itself. Schrodinger:Hate him now idea why people love him what the neko ears is that really all it takes put neko ears on someone and their cute? Not to mention my freind said he was hot before i had time to explian it was a guy. plus a god modder Rip:The singing was really random for me. What idoit uses a musket I don't care what it dose it's still a stupid idea at least pack some extra ammo if your gonna use one that weapon even sucks in MGS4. Captian:......TALK!!!Come on not just "....."SAY SOMETHING ITS NOT ASKING FOR MUCH!!! Zorin:Seemed like a female Alucard. dispite killing one of my favorite characters she won plenty of respect even sheded a little light on Sears's life. Dandy man:First off why are you called that and second off...cards...your useing cards to fight with? this isn't Yu-gi-oh i mean i like yu-gi-oh but really he had that comeing "Beware Alucard for I shall give you papercuts." Ya not anymore you aren't. Luke:my freind said it be cool to be him ya he was bad a** but when he saw the death secene he said"I take it back." He reappears for one chapter for no real reason. Jan:The most funnist charcter.

NoLifeKing66 Walter did love Integra and Seras, but he hated Alucard with a passion. Oh I see. I haven't read the Dawn so I assumed that he might've felt something for Alucard. But I guess not. And I realize that I may have made it sound like Walter's betrayal wasn't as horrible as it really was, and it was terrible to sacrifice so many people because of his hatred toward Alucard, but...I'm not sure how to put it. Maybe I just feel for him in the way I feel for Maxwell. Walter was rather childish himself. As I believe Suni put it, Walter never really grew up. NoLifeKing66 He was the old priest with the mustache and glasses that spoke to Anderson in Volume 1 and accompanied Maxwell to the Imperial War Museum in Volume 2. After that, he never appears again. Oh...Oh right! I remember that. He and Walter were so relieved when Alucard and Anderson left.xD Well OP, I can't really say I have an opinion of him. NoLifeKing66 Yeah, if you think "a totally cool guy" is someone who is ready, willing, and able to use everyone around him to get what he wants, and to shoot you (or have somebody else shoot you, since his aim is ridiculously bad) if you don't agree with him. stare I meant more like, if he wasn't evil. More like how Hirano draws him at the end of a few of the manga volumes. The karaoke singing nerd.xD NoLifeKing66 Isn't it obvious? The Captain wanted to die. It becomes even more apparent in the final version of Volume 10, in which he himself provides Seras/Pip with the silver tooth they use to kill him. Yes, but why? Why would he want to die? Was he tired maybe? Maybe he didn't like being used the way he was? NoLifeKing66 At least someone's giving Zorin the respect she deserves. biggrin Well of course! The series owes alot to her. I wonder where the series would've gone had she not done what she did.

Suni's right. Walter didn't grow up. He didn't mature emotionally from 1944 to 1999. He didn't really become an adult until he realized how foolish he'd been, and that was only just before he died. He's a tragic, sympathetic figure, but he's still a selfish, jaded brat. KittyxKarat NoLifeKing66 Isn't it obvious? The Captain wanted to die. It becomes even more apparent in the final version of Volume 10, in which he himself provides Seras/Pip with the silver tooth they use to kill him. Yes, but why? Why would he want to die? Was he tired maybe? Maybe he didn't like being used the way he was? That's just how monsters are. They enjoy battle, regardless of who is winning or losing, killing or dying. They're warmongers. They go on age after age after age, fighting wars that cost them everything they hold dear. Eventually, they tire of it. They just want to rest. That's why they seek out their own deaths the only way they know how: through battle. That's why the Captain was happy when he was defeated. That's why Alucard was happy when he was defeated. Arthur's speech in Volume 9 (just before Anderson's death) and Integra's speech in Volume 10 (just after the Major's death) make that pretty clear.
