Teza's stomach rumbled voraciously, reminding her of the fact that she had not been able to successfully hunt yet today. She was weary from a day's worth of stalking, but unfortunately came up short-handed. Dusk was approaching and her eyelids were getting heavier. She wasn't sure if it would be more appropriate to sleep or hunt until she filled her appetite.

Another hunger pang rippled through her stomach, and all the memories of her starved past flashed through her mind. She wasn't going to bed hungry, not if she could control it. Sluggishly, she pulled herself off the ground and onto her four legs and began trudging towards a clearing. A decent sized boulder appeared over the horizon, and she realized it would be ideal to hide behind while quietly observing. As stealthily as she could manage in her current state, she positioned herself behind the boulder ready to pounce. However, as the sun began to edge closer to the horizon she felt herself slipping into unconsciousness. Sleep was calling her.

The cubs were with Tzila that afternoon and so Manuku had absolutely nothing to do. He spent more than enough time with his girls, happy to do so- and why not? While they were small it was easy to gain their favor, which truthfully kept him around. Had any of them hated him.. well, that probably wouldn't have stopped him either, only made him try harder to get on their good side. It mattered to him, that was one part of being a good father.

With nothing else to do, and not really feeling all that interested in his younger siblings or nieces and nephews without the girls, he wandered around trying to be productive. But there wasn't really much for him to do. He had decided hunting might be a good way to be productive, and perhaps give him a good excuse to go see the girls- and Tzila. But.. it wasn't working out so well for him. He didn't even notice that there was another lion nearby.

Teza's eyes were in need of prying open when a flash of blue caught her eye. She muttered to herself, "What the heck?" Her groggy half sleep-filled eyes came into focus, and she realized the bright blue was indeed part of another lion. She'd met other rogues who'd run the gamut of colours, but she'd never seen any with such a rich blue colouring.

Intrigued she walked strongly, but not threateningly over towards him so not as to provoke him. Her mother would find so much humor in the fact that she would die hungry if this male was of the aggressive sort. Making her presence known, she let out a growl, and sat back on her hind legs eying the stranger carefully. She didn't want to be mistaken for food if he too was hunting. Speechless, she thumped her tail against the grass behind her rapidly. It was a nervous habit, but she was trying her hardest not to appear as a victim.

When Teza moved towards him, he spotted her. She was harder to see in the dimming light of evening but there was no mistaking that it was another lion once you'd spotted her. She looked thin and a bit scruffy- no mistaking it, she was definitely a rogue. He couldn't help but glance around, wondering how far he'd gone. But he wasn't really outside of the Pridelands yet. That meant she'd wandered in a bit too far, which wasn't really a problem with a friendly pride like this one. It took him a moment, too, to realize he was standing perfectly still while she was coming his way. But that might have been for the best, he decided. He didn't want to provoke her any more than she wanted to provoke him. When she was closer and took a seat, he took a couple steps closer to put himself in conversation distance.

"Hello there," he said, "Not lost, are you?"

A sense of calmness rushed over Teza when she realized the blue-maned lion didn't have any initial intentions to devour her. His words seemed genuine, but Teza was not fully convinced yet. Trust was something hard to earn, but impossible to break once built with Teza. Unsure of how to answer, Teza weighed the options. If she admitted to being lost, and he was genuine, then she probably had nothing to worry about. However, if she admitted to being lost, and he was interested in attacking, then she would just be setting herself up.

She wanted so badly to believe in the better side of others. "I may or may not be lost. Are you lost?" Teza, could have probably thought of something wittier to say, but she was tired and hungry. Obviously someone already lost asking another would not be lost, as it would not be beneficial to their situation. Not wanting to be a sitting target, she leapt back onto all fours and began pacing within conversation distance. Although she probably made a fool of herself with her first statement, she wanted to remedy the situation to save some of her integrity. "Okay, I may be lost, but it's not like I need any help."

Manny opened his mouth to respond to her initial question but was cut off when she confessed to being lost-- and not needing any help. It was kind of confusing, she didn't seem to know what to say and if she didn't need help, why did she bother coming up to him? Girls were so confusing sometimes, it was too bad he couldn't really say he was learning anything more by having four of his own.

"All right, then," he said with a shrug, narrowing his eyes in almost a challenging way-- but he was smiling, it was, more than anything, questioning her statement about not needing help, "Can I ask you something?"

Teza whipped her tail against the ground out of frustration. Every single meeting she had with others started off so awkwardly. Relationships were hard to develop, and even harder to maintain for the lioness. She admired the fact that this male was making an effort to talk to her, and didn't up and leave when she gave such a scatter-brained answer to his initial question.

She gulped at the thought of his new question. Asking permission to ask a question always made Teza nervous. It was like he was purposely heightening her anxiety. Unsure of what to do, she weighed the options of allowing him to start asking questions. If she let him, she could possibly make a new acquaintance, but if she didn't she could always run off as fast as possible in the opposite direction. Seeing as she had nothing better to do, Teza let out a sigh and responded, "Well... I suppose you can ask me something." Before she would let herself fall into a trap she quickly interjected, "... but remember, I don't have to answer." Quasi-pompously, she tossed her head up into the air and shook the little tuft of fur on the top of her head to mark the pride she took in protecting herself from any prying.

He could see that she was nervous about his question, but he also knew it wasn't really that bad. He had no intentions of hurting her- though he would defend himself but he looked like he could take her, he was a well fed pride lion and .. she looked hungry.

"Fair enough," he agreed, "You know you're in a pride's lands, right? The Pridelands to be specific." He glanced around, it was almost surprising that nobody else was around now too. But then, they were kind of far out.
