Agade was in a good mood. Why? Well he had a pretty lady who was finally coming over to him. Wasn't that enough reason to be in a good mood? Well he felt it was! Humming as he trotted around the borders, he was on patrol to make sure no one was stirring up trouble in the pack’s lands. Happily following after him was his little partner Esther. The brown and white jackal familiar met Agade a few weeks ago when he found a pair of adolescent cheetahs picking on her. After he rescued her, she decided she wanted to stick by him and help him however she could!
Agade stopped and stretched out with a yawn. "Try not to overwork yourself Master! You have been patrolling for hours!" she said with a a frown and a worried look on her face. She didn't want him to overwork himself! "Don't worry Esther. I will be done soon. I just don't want anyone invading the pride and causing trouble for anyone...or risking harming Ziwa." he said to Esther. He had told her not to call him Master, but she insisted so he just decided to simply let her. It's not like it did any harm, and he was getting use to it anyways.
As he continued to walk, his eyes watching for anything suspicious, the grin on his face never ceased. He was in a good mood and wasn't going to let anyone damper that!

A pretty white figure moved in the shallows of the waters. She generally stayed near the border-edge of a wide river that cut through the pack-lands. A small yawn cut from her throat, wondering if she should return to the clan dens.
Her Kiongozi would still be sleeping - the weather was pleasant, the perfect time to sleep and lounge. The sun was a fickle thing, providing a sleepy atmosphere.
Despite this, Leini felt simply bored. Nothing had crossed her path since she came to the border. Only a few stray creatures wishing to drink. She had no desire to hunt either. She frowned, sighed, and her red gazed turned homeward.
Her red eyes passed down from he father then onto half of her beautiful offspring. She gave a small smile at the thought of her children - proud and strong they grew.
She sighed again, watching a pair of silhouettes making their way towards her.

Agade continued to walk along the borders...but stopped when he noticed a figure in the distance. Narrowing his eyes, he studied the figure to see if it was friend, or foe. He wasn't quick to attack unless he ran into someone that seemed to pose a very obvious threat.
As he got closer...he recognized the scent somewhat...but couldn't' recall where. But he figured it meant this female was a pride member. "You there, state your name and business!" he commanded in a firm tone. Might as well see who this stranger was. But, then he noticed something. Her eyes.
"Your eyes...remind me of someone...ah! Ziwa!" he said, his face and tone showing how shocked he was. There was no way someone unrelated could have eyes as beautiful as hers! "You, who are you?" he asked her as he stepped a little closer to the pale female.

Leini wrinkled her nose a bit. She didn't know the unknown male, but that didn't mean anything. There were many pack members she hadn't met personally. The prominent clan-heads and some of the cubs - her grandchildren of course. Honestly, being a grandmother made her feel old.
"Name and business?" she repeated, blinking.
She paused in her wading, lifting a grey paw from the water. "You know my child, my Ziwa," she stated. "You must be the one she speaks of." She stared hard at the male, assessing him and stepping out of the water to him.
She didn't know the male, and she didn't like it. Her sons had chosen those they had been around, but she could see the way her daughter's eyes sparkled when she spoke of him.
"I am Leini. Maziwa is my first-born daughter," she stated, moving to get a better look at the male who seemed to catch her daughters fancy.
"You must be Agade."

Oh so she did know Ziwa! Wait...her Ziwa? "Wait are you her..." he began, feeling a bit embarassed by the prospect of potentially meeting the mother of his beloved Maziwa. Though he normally wouldn't mind being checked out by a female, it all felt very awkward at this moment.
Esther watched them both, feeling the tension in the air at the moment..."Um...Miss, I apologize for my speaking out of turn but, Master here is very kind with Miss Maziwa and they like each other. I hope you will approve of him!" she said very quickly. Agade shook his head and raised a paw, rubbing the top of Esther's head/ "Now now Esther, you needn't call me that. And I can get approval on my down dear alright?" he said as he removed his paw as she began to fix the fur on her head, nodding in response.
"Ah well it is a great pleasure to meet you my lady! I am indeed Agade, and I am attempting to court your beautiful princess. I hope you will approve of our relationship. My heart yerns for hers, and I wish to spend my life with her. As I have no parents to bless our union, I hope you will give your blessing to us." he said as he nodded his head to her in a very 'princely' fashion.

Leini was almost amused at the startled expression the male seemed to take on. Just before her attention traveled to the jackal - and she frowned. "Why do you call this man 'Master,' Little One?" She asked. He didn't treat her unkindly, as far as she could see.
However, the work Master made her heart ache, and she frowned deeply at this. "And you speak your opinion whenever you need to, Darling. No one will reprimand you here."
And she turned her attention back to the male. The male, she figured, had nothing to do with the title. But then, she couldn't totally be sure.
"I would have to know you more, Child, before I make my judgement. But know Maziwa's decision is her own. I would not be able to stop her from her choice. She is a strong-willed woman," Leini acquiesced. Her gaze was that of an old woman, having seen two litters grow to adult-hood. Her first litter of grandchildren were on their way as well.
"We shall see..." She paused. "Walk with me. I shall talk to you," she commented lightly before turning to walk away - clearly expecting him, and his companion, to follow.

"Because he is my great master who protects and looks after me..." said Esther meekly as she lowered her head. "Esther, don't feel bad if you speak up. I have told you before. You needn't call me Master, and you needn't worry about speaking here. No one here will look down on you." he said to her as she nodded. Yes, he told her this all the time. But she just...felt compelled to call him master. He was her Master! At least in her mind...
"I see. Well I hope when the time comes that you will bless our union." said Agade as he sat down. It was his way of showing that he trusted her enough to let his guard down. He stood up agian however with a nod when she asked him to walk with her. "Very well." he said as he began to walk after her. Esther following closely behind. She was like his little shadow. Always following her chosen 'master' around.

Leini quirked a small smile at the jackal and shook her head lightly. "Alright, then," Leini's demeanor totally changed. "I apologize for being mistrustful," she told them lightly. "When one is as old as I am, we learn to not trust on a whim, you know."
Leini gave a small chiming laughter.
"But I must ask, what are your intentions towards my daughter," she asked - her expression more curious then that of a stern old woman.
It had taken a lot for this female to make it that far in life - especially being alone for a vast majority of it with an inability to hunt. She knew what hardships were, and the feeling of losing someone dear.
She did not want her daughters or sons to ever know that feeling.

"Oh that is alright my lady. I understand that it is very odd to have someone use that title in a pack such as this." he said with a nod. He continued to walk with her as he heard her question, grinning before answering.
"Well, I wish to have a family with her. I enjoy making her happy, and spending time with her but over all having offspring with her I suppose you could say is my 'goal' but even if that never comes I still wish to be with her." said Agade as he continued to walk. "I want her to be happy. In the beginning it made me sad to see that she didn't find herself to be beautiful. I still want her to see herself as lovely as I see her."

Leini only gave a small nod. It was odd to hear the work Master. She didn't like it, but she supposed that was the way life way - you couldn't always get what you wanted.
Despite her thoughts, Leini listened to his intentions, giving a small nod when he completed the short list. "She never thought she was beautiful - even as a cub. I still don't understand why," Leini gave a small sigh.
"She looks a lot like her Father," she informed the male, only pausing to let a sigh escape her lips. Was she a bad mother.
"Do you think you could make her see herself for what she truly is? She's a stunning girl, but she doesn't see it," Leini asked quietly, feet moving automatically along a path well known to her.

"I see...I don't see why. She is lovely." he said as he shook his head for a moment. He really did wish she could see herself as beautiful.
"But, I do think I can make her see it. Once she realizes that my feelings are really true, I am sure she will come around and see that she is beautiful, and any male would be blessed to have her." said Agade with a grin. Yes, he was pleased that he was beginning to win her over. For a while there he wasn't sure he would.
Esther was walking beside Agade, and listening intently to the conversation. She had come to bond with Agade after he had already begun to court Maziwa, so all she has known is her 'master' trying to win her over, and she didn't understand why it took as long as it did. Didn't she like him to?

Leini gave a small nod. "I agree with you, Agade. It would be up to Maziwa to accept you, but I shall give you my blessing. Do not take advantage of this," Leini dipped her head a little.
"Let's talk more though. Are you headed back to the inner lands? Or do you plan to patrol more, Mlinzi?" She asked, calling the male by his rank. It was a habit she had picked up from her daughter, mostly.

Agade grinned when Leini said she would give her blessing, perfect! “I am very honored that you would consider me. And I do hope that Ziwa will accept me.” he said as he knelt her head in response. He wasn’t planning to take advantage of this, he actually DID like Maziwa, which for him was odd because he always loved to ‘play’ with the ladies growing up.
“Very well. I was about to finish my patrol, my replacement should be here soon.” he said. Agade might be a very silly individual, but he did take his job seriously. If he didn’t, their clan could be attacked. And he most certainly couldn’t allow that to happen.

Leini gave a small smile. She wouldn't allow for her daughter to be hurt by someone like she was sure she hurt her previous mate and her lost child. She had come so close in finding him - she had smelt him on Ziwa one morning after the night of a full moon.
"Alright, we shall head in-land then," she told him. "I'm sure they'll be here soon, and I've not seen anything threatening from here, so it's safe to assume nothing shall attack before we get to far away, yes?" Leini gave a small tilt of her head, wondering if he would agree. Of course, they could wait until the replacement arrived.
"Your brothers are Adeto and Radi, right?" They were good fellows. One of her sons had mated to Adeto's adopted daughter. They had such odd family lines. But Adeto was a good fellow. Ziwa worked with the blue male when hunting on occasion.

Agade didn't know about this past Leini thought of, and if she had mentioned it he would be completely clueless. But he knew he couldn't pull a stunt like that even if he wanted to. He would have to cut off his brother Adeto, and likely Radi to. And he didn't want to do that. Plus, he didn't want to Maziwa.
"Very well, but...I would feel better if we waited for the replacement to appear. I understand its unlikely we will be attacked, but I must take my job seriously, one slip up and it could be trouble." he said, hoping Leini understood. But five minutes later the replacement appeared as Agade gave a nod to him turning back to Leini.
"Alright, let's go. Oh and yes, those are my brothers. We grew up together, but were separated a while back. But luckily we found each other again." said Agade with a smile. He was happy to be with his brothers again.
