If there was one thing Ylva had never expected in her life, it was to be given a child to raise. Oh sure, the giantess had expected to someday return home, find a man worthy of her standards, and have a pack of children, but... this was something she had not accounted for.

She glanced down at Alexie, the toddler dutifully clinging to the hem of her greatcoat as the pair weaved carefully through the mall. Acquiring the cat-eared child had been a surprise, and such a surprise required clothing. She had been fortunate in that the little boy had managed to manifest himself with a complete outfit, but one would not do! He would need furniture too, but she was skilled enough in carpentry that she could arrange that for him. Clothes were much more important at the moment.

Only... Ylva was not one for fashion sense, and so far this mall had been quite a confusing experience for her. What was commonly accepted for small children to wear in this culture? Back home, you wore furs and armor and little else. These colors and patterns were all very new to her.

Again, she glanced down at the little child, who had to practically jog to keep up with Ylva's much longer strides, despite the fact that she was going as slow as she could manage. That sorta thing kinda happened when one barely reached your knees.

"Are you fine?"

Nod.

"Do you see anything you like?"

A pause, followed by a shake of the head.

Ylva huffed. "Well, let me know if you see anything nice."

Nod.

Ngh. Quiet little bugger, he was.

There was a pink skinned boy up ahead, wandering into a clothing store. His hair was long and black and he didn't look like he should be wandering alone, and yet he was, or so it seemed. This child stopped midstep, however and glanced over, amazed by how tall Ylva was and then curious about Alexie's ears.

Walking over quickly, he smiled brightly to the two. "Hello there!" he greeted, bowing a bit before continuing, "Where're you going?"

Ylva drew to a stop when the pink-skinned being approached them, one blonde eyebrow lifting to a suspicious arch. He was small; smaller than the majority of people who she usually encountered here in Gaia. A child, maybe? Where were his parents? Yet she decided not to press on the matter. She had run off more than once as a child to explore at her leisure. Perhaps this child was no different from that.

"Greetings, little one," she replied with a nod. "We are out shopping..." she paused, half-twisting oddly to point at Alexie, who had decided to hide behind one of Ylva's long legs "...for him."

The little catboy had retreated with the stranger's approach, using Ylva's leg and coat as if it were some great shield that would allow him to vanish.

Ylva shrugged. "He's shy today, it seems."

"oh that's okay. My brother's shy too, sometimes." Wynn assured her with a smile, leaning over a bit to wave at the other boy.

"My father's in to find some clothes for me. I was outside the store finishing my drink but then I saw you guys and wanted to say hi!" the child explained with a grin.

"Did you need some help? These stores are weird."

The giantess nodded. A reasonable enough explanation, but one should be wary of strangers. But,t hen again, it wasn't like there were an untold number of horrors lurking about in this corner of the word. "I see. Alexie! Say hello!"

Obediently, Alexie mumbled something that vaguely resembled a greeting. Then he peeked out a little bit farther, purple ears drooped. "Look'n clothes..."

"Yes Lexie, we're looking for clothes for you. Now you're not going to find anything back there. Come on out where we can see you."

Reluctantly, the little toddler did as he was bid, though he seemed damned intent on keeping his gaze on the ground, as if the bland mall carpeting was the most fascinating thing he'd ever seen. One hand still kept tight hold of his guardian's coat, as if he were ready to vanish behind its heavy protective folds at the slightest alarm.

"Clothes aren't so bad." Wynn said with a smile, crouching down to see the toddler better. "I shop here all the time - they've got nice stuff. It's not itchy or uncomfortable usually and the staff's nice. They don't push you or act mean, and they're helpful." He tried to be reassuring, since that's how he was with Deimos - or was when Deimos was little.
