User Image In the Catalia Glades, Livewire saw something in the distance. It looked brown with black stripes and a mask like a cardinal and it had red wings. He thought it was a butterfly. "Ooh, ooh, what's that? A butterfly?"

He decided he'd try to catch it. He slunk slowly towards it on his belly, so as not to scare it, but it was difficult for him to repress the urge to just run after it. Minutes later, he began chanting, "I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you..." Finally, he just couldn't take it anymore and he pounced towards it. "You're mine!"

He was so pleased with himself, he began snickering. His forepaws were clenched around something. When he opened them, though, he saw they were full of leaves. After that, he sat up and looked down, disappointed. "I clearly spoke too soon. This sucks. I suck..."

Then, he looked forward and saw it again, but this time, it was even further than before. He jumped to his feet and glared at it. "This time, I'm gonna get you for sure!"

He ran towards it, but he suddenly stopped when he saw a huge building. He knew there was nothing like that in the Catalia Glades. "Wh-where am I?" He looked around and saw huge trees - one right next to the other like toothpicks in a box. He looked under him and saw a dirt path. "This is the Wysteria Forest, innit? How'd I get here?"

He hadn't left home with the idea to go to the Wysteria Forest, but seeing as his plans essentially consisted of find cool places, do cool things, and stuff, there was a lot of leeway as far as that was concerned. "So cool! I always wanted to go here! This will be a grand adventure!" After that, the butterfly was in the back of his mind and he was happily trotting along the dirt path...

Oh.. dear.

Irildë flopped down under the shade of a tree by one of the many dirt paths in Wysteria Forest, and sighed. That Izael- she had followed him on an adventure, but somewhere along the way he'd wandered off without her noticing.

Somewhere along the same way, she'd found herself in Wysteria Forest. Not that she was scared- of course not! Irildë and scared just never went together.

Picking herself up, she decided it'd be a good chance to go exploring. Maybe there were monsters here; she'd heard rumours about the temple. Gleefully she plotted, daydreaming about battles and honour and glory and all those other things that had been in a book Kiere once read to her.

Adventure is out there! She couldn't remember who said that, but she agreed wholeheartedly. Without a thought as to where she was headed, she ran out onto the path and headfirst into something.. something big and orange.

Monster! she thought, getting carried away with her imaginations, and then-

"Owwwww, my head..." Dazed, she sat up, only to realise that Mr Orange wasn't a monster after all, but a fellow Gladier.

Livewire was knocked back by the other gladier, though, he didn't know she was a gladier at the time. When he regained his bearing, he jumped to his feet and shouted, "Get back, foul fiend!" Then, he stopped, looked around, and realized he didn't see a thing. After that, he looked down and saw the gladier, looking a bit like a purple lump. "Oh, sorry about that! I stand corrected. You're neither of those things. You're pretty, actually."

Then, Livewire paused a bit and thought of what to say next. "So, what brings you here? I'm Livewire and I'm here to explore and maybe look for a certain something. Are you a fellow adventurer? ...and do you need any help getting up? That sound you made back then didn't sound so good."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 15, 2010 10:27 pm

Pretty! Had she heard right? Someone had called her pretty!

It took her a while to find her voice, though. "I.. I think I bumped my head, just now," she replied, "But I'll be fine." It probably wasn't a particularly serious injury.

Picking herself up, she regarded the other gladier (Livewire, did he say?) and pondered. Should she tell the truth; that she'd gotten lost? Somehow, it sounded so.. lame. And anyway, she wasn't one of those damstrel-in-distress types.

"I'm on an adventure, too, ... Livewire," she grins. "My name is Irilde, and, umm, I'm here to find monsters. Big monsters. I'm going to beat them and steal their treasure!

"That's good to hear!" Livewire was glad Irilde was alright. Somewhere on the list of things he didn't like was folks gettin' hurt.

"Ooh, I like the way you think! Mind if I join you?" After that, without moving, he looked around, combing the area with his eyes like a fine-toothed comb, but the only things that looked unusual to him were the dirt paths. Some seemed to lead nowhere or stop suddenly in the brush. "Hmmm...where d'you find monsters around here, anyway?"

Yay. She was beginning to like Livewire more; he seemed interesting!

"Sure you can!" She walked up to him, nuzzled his side softly. "I'd be glad for company anyway."

"Monsters, huh.. I dunno, but isn't there an old haunted temple somewhere around here? I've heard legends that say it's guarded by monsters, and.. if you beat them, you get your wishes granted or something. I'm not too sure about this. But.. um, want to check it out?"

Stepping away, she walked up the straight path, turned back and waved a paw at him. "Let's go this way," she said. "And then here..." she pointed, then turned right and walked into the bushes.

"Eeeeeeek!!"

Livewire laughed happily after Irilde nuzzled him. He thought she seemed like an outgoing girl and he liked that. He was starting to blush.

"I heard about that temple. I figured out where I was when I saw it, but it looked so tiny far away." He looked up and could see it on the horizon, but it looked much larger from up close. In his opinion, it also looked really freaking cool and he was looking forward to heading there. "And yes, of course I'd like to check it out!"

He trailed behind her as she walked along the path, but he lost sight of her when she took a right turn. Then, his ears perked up when he heard her scream. He ran into the bushes and was ready for a fight. His teeth were bared, he was swiping at the air with his claws, and he was practically tackling the shrub. "Oraaa!"

With a giggle, Irilde pounced on Livewire from inside the bushes, tackling him to the ground.

"I got you again!" she laughed, dusts off his nose with a paw. Sniffing the air, she turned to look at the temple. It looked so close by, and yet so far away.
"B..but.. I'm really not very good with directions. Want to lead the way instead?"

"Ooh," Livewire said with a laugh, "one of these days, I'll get you! Mark my words." That was something he just blurted out. He meant it in a playful way.

After he heard Irilde's question, he got off of his back, went back on his feet, and said, "Sure! I can take the lead. You can just walk beside me." After this, he headed forward to the temple. While he was on a path now, he wasn't paying any attention to them and was going to end up wading through foot high grass eventually.

He had a feeling this was going to take a while - I hate this feeling. I love exploring and all. I love setting off from home and going to new places, but I could really do without those long, boring parts in the middle... Ugh... - so he tried to start up a conversation. "Oh, uh, nice weather we're having. You really can't ask for a better day. ...so, how's your home life? Have any brothers or sisters or anything like that? I've got a little brother and he's about as much fun as a wet blanket, but he's as sweet as can be..." He was getting a bit tongue-tied.

"I'd like to see you try," she grinned back at him.

He agreed to lead the way, and they set off on their journey. She was quiet then, not quite knowing what to say. Irilde wasn't used to this. It had never been this hard to talk to another gladier. Somehow, it'd gotten a little awkward, and she contented herself with padding along by his side silently.

She hoped it'd be worth it, going to the temple. That it... wouldn't be a waste of his time. After all, there were plenty of things he could be doing, instead of keeping her company-- and then, his voice broke her train of thought. He was talking about the weather! Perhaps he felt the same awkward silence, the need to say something. She was glad he'd taken the first step.

She looked up at the grey clouds rumbling above them, and giggled a little.
"Yeah," she smiles, "Really nice weather."

"I've got a little brother, too! His name is Izael. We were going exploring- he likes collecting things- but he wandered off somewhere along the way. I love him lots, and he's really sweet, too, just kind of absent-minded. It's like he lives in his own world. So.. um, tell me more about yourself? The things you like doing? And... stuff?"

After Livewire heard what Irilde said about wanting to see him try, he didn't say a thing. He just looked over at her and stuck out his tongue.

"Aww, that's nice!" he said after he heard about her brother. He thought he sounded really sweet. He thought he wouldn't mind meeting him some day.

Then, it was time to answer her questions. "Let's see... More about me...? Well, I live in Catalia Glades. I can lift three stones at a time. But I can't juggle. I tried and hurt myself and two other folks and now, those Circini give me dirty looks whenever I walk by. Anyway, I really don't like sitting around around and doing nothing. That is so darn boring, innit? I don't like bullies either. ...I think that's it?"

And to answer the other, he said, "What do I like? Hmmm..." He thought a bit before finally answering by saying, "I like a lot of things. Exploring, saving folks, my brother, food - sweets're really great and spicy things and soda pop and...you get the point." While he was talking, he realized that he didn't feel bored at all. He thought traveling with her was definitely as interesting as getting to an adventure's final destination, so he added, "And right now, I'm liking you. What about you? Like, yourself and what you like and all?"

"Catalia Glades? I..I've never been there before. What's it like?"

She giggles a little, listening to his story.

"You can lift three stones at a time? That's amazing. I've never tried juggling, but it looks hard. I always wondered how they'd keep that one stone up in the air... I don't think I could ever do it. Looks like we've got some things in common, though!" They were straying off the path, she noticed, but she didn't feel like saying anything about it. Perhaps if they got lost there'd be something interesting along the way.

She blushes a little ("And right now, I'm liking you." No one had said that to her before.) "I like exploring, too, and my brother. I adore sweets, but.. I'd rather stay away from spicy things. My favourite food is berries, definitely!"

As she was about to continue, a fat raindrop plopped onto her nose, and she sneezed. Almost immediately it began raining hard; a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, striking a tree some way ahead.

"Good timing," Irilde grinned. "I love storms, and I love running in rain. It's the thrill of it all."

"Race you to.. wherever. Catch me if you can!"

When Irilde asked about Catalia, Livewire answered by saying, "It's really nice. Like, right now, there're flowers everywhere."

After he heard her talk about juggling, he giggled and then said, "I feel you there!"

"Ooh, berries're awesome!" After that, he thought about delicious they'd be right now and he thought it was too bad there weren't any around here. All there here was grass, flowers, and trees.

Then, the once blue sky darkened and the previously fluffy white clouds were replaced with huge purple and gray ones. After that, a bright blue bolt of lightning lit up the sky and a peal of thunder boomed soon afterward. Then, the rain came down, began collecting on the trees' leaves, and came down in thick, transparent cords.

After he heard what she said, he said, "I love it when it gets stormy too. It's so exciting!" After he saw her run off, he ran after her and tried to catch up...

Running free, never pausing to even look where she was going. Irilde liked this feeling. Her mind was blissfully free of thoughts, and the heavy rain drowned out any other sound.

And then there was lightning. Flashing through the sky. Lightning, bright as Livewire.

She could not hear his footsteps behind her, could not sense his presence. Not while a storm was raging. A small thought nagged at her, slowly filling the emptiness with loneliness and just a little hint of fear (what if something had happened to him, after she'd run off without him?)

Irilde slowed her pace, coming to a stop under a tree, and looked back, hoping to catch a glimpse of orange.

Livewire slowed down and he looked up at the clouds. They were scary, but beautiful too. Big, gray, blue, and purple. As far as being beautiful and purple went, they kind of reminded him of Irilde. "Hey, hey!" he shouted, trying to get her attention. He wanted to tell her. "Do you see that?"

No response.

Now, his heart was racing. Weren't they just playing before? Had she gotten that far ahead of him? Was she lost? At that thought, a constant stream of, Oh, crap, oh, crap, oh, crap..., began to run through his thought. He had to do something. "I-I-Irilde?!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, hoping she'd hear him.

Afterward, he started thinking aloud as he ran around and looked allover for her. "I hope she's staying in one spot. Somewhere dry or something. They teach us that when we're little, don't they? That and don't talk to strangers and don't eat things that fell on the floor and stuff. I always messed that last one up..."
