Dazzler
Moved to 'HELP, QUESTIONS, and ASSISTANCE', please try to use the correct subforum in furture. As for your questions my first bit of advice would be to get the wiring in your house checked; bad wiring can cause lights to go on and off.
Next check if there is anything around the motion detector that is connected to you outside light. Plants moving in the wind, even insects flying past and sometimes set them off. The one I've got goes off at the drop of a hat.
I would need more information on the items on the dresser before I can give you an opinion. For example have you actually seen the items move? How far do they move? Is it possible that the dresser isn't flat and the items are just slipping/rolling off? What kind of items is it that moves?
And finally, cats are weird animals anyway.
Well, I'm very glad that you have good explanations for these things. As for the dresser thing, I HAVE checked to see if it's flat, and it is. The things that have flown off are a hairbrush, which randomly flew to the other side of my bedroom (I did see it) and a cup, which only went about five feet away (I saw that too).
Also, my cat is pretty relaxed, and I don't think he'd run around the house like a maniac. When he's running, he'll usually randomly stop, look up at whatever might be chasing him, then hide. Maybe he's just stupid.
Also, the motion detector light is one that detects things on the ground, not that fly by. I'm not sure though.
