Seashore Field Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze (the stadium ceiling is open when this field is selected) while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Chirper descended upon the palm tree with a cheerful "Bluu!" The small yellow bird was quite happy that he did not have to actually get on the sand quite yet, he disliked how the grains of sand clung to his feathers especially when they were wet.
Luna, in her corner of the stadium, tugged her straw sunhat at a comfortable angle that blocked out the sun while still giving an adequate view of the stadium. "You ready?" Luna asked, hands akimbo and lips tilted up in a slight challenging smirk.

As the stadium door creaked to a close a salty breeze blew through Cab's undone hair. "Oh my." It was quite beautiful. Penners darted ahead to pick up a shiny shell and test it with her teeth as though wondering if it was real. At the same time her trainer bent down to pick up a shell as well. She put it back in the same spot after inspecting it, deciding it would be best not to steal from the Pokémon League.
"Yes, I'm ready." At that, Penners also put down her shell and backed away from the tree a bit more, giving herself more room to try and dodge her opponent.

While Cab's smile wasn't nearly a smirking or confident, there was a glimmer of hope in her eye when she called for Penners to use her favorite TM move. "Thunderbold, Penners!"
Penners took a deep breath and tried to channel the power of lightening and direct it at the tree, which made a much larger target than her opponent.

Luna frowned slightly when she heard the super effective move called out, but the frown was soon replaced with a devious smile. "Heh, thunderbolt, huh? Okay, we can use this to our advantage. Chirper, mirror move!"
A semi-translucent mirror appeared in front of the incoming thunderbolt. The attack passed through the mirror without a problem, striking the tree and the swablu. But Chirper kept his focus and a few seconds after the rattata's attack, the mirror glowed and regurgitated a thunderbolt right back at the small rat pokemon.

That was bothersome. Cab thought through every attack she couldn think of, but nothing Penners knew was going to reverse her paralyzed state. She could do nothing but watch as her tiny, tan Rattata tensed her muscles, struggling against the paralysis holding her in place.

The look on Luna's face was now absolutely feral. Victory was now possible for the duo, if only by a small margin, but Luna worked well with small margins. "Ominious wind!"
"Bluu!"
The swablu's cry summoned purple gusts of wind to flow into the beach, clouding the sun and creating slightly lower visibility in the field.

Dang, she's good. Cab had considered, later in the battle, whether or not to take a turn to boost Penners' water attack and take advantage of the stacking. She hadn't decided since it meant taking a turn without dealing damage. But with Penners immobilized, Luna could take a few turns to set things up nicely for herself.

"Perfect," Luna cheered. The trainer was practically hopping with excitement. She could now begin her attacking phase. There was always the possibility of performing yet another stat boost, but she figured that the with both the rattata's and Chirper's limited HP, every attack counted more.
"Mud slap!"
Chirper darted from his position on the tree and landed gently on the shoreline. The bird pokemon eyed the rattata quickly before turning around and flinging dirt at the rattata as fast as possible with his feet.

So the damage for this attack, if normal, is 175 HP due to the field boost. If it is a critical hit, it is 325 HP

Cab thought she saw Penners twitch, but she didn't seem ready to move just yet. "Hold on, Penners. I'm sure you'll be fine in no time." I hope...
Penners growled, but couldn't actually shout in frustration because even her jaw was locked. She wanted so badly to move, especially after she got coated in mud. Some of it was in her ear, some covered half of her face.

Chirper twisted his head back to peak at the rattata. Good, the brown speck was still immobolized. With a determined face, Chirper continued to pile mud upon the rattata.

*ptew* TATTA!" Penners spat mud and scraped her face along the sand to get some of it off. The thickest layers of mud came off, but where it only made her fur damp now sand clung to it.
Penners! Great, I have an idea..." It was risky, but she felt like this battle was lost anyway. If her idea failed, they were goners. But if it worked, it could turn things in their favor. "Use Toxic!"
Penners wanted nothing more than to shock that odd-looking Swablu, but she obeyed Cab. She summoned noxious fumes to lick and tease Chirper's feathers.

"Careful Chirper," Luna warned, but she was not all too concerned for her pokemon. Chirper had his own fair share of battles by now and Luna trusted the bird as much as she trusted her own abilities.
"Swa, swablu!"
The bird pokemon raised his wings and flapped a few times to disperse of a majority of the toxic fumes while still continuing her onslaught of mud. Luna noticed that Chirper's wings took on a light shade of green. Phew, doesn't look too severe at least...

That didn't seem to have helped things much. They needed another effective attack, and one that couldn't be shot back at them with a nasty paralysis effect. That's it! "Penners, Shock Wave!" Her only hope at this point was for Luna's pokémon to miss... Status effects were always so unreliable when she tried to use them.
Penners shook free of the newest onslaught of mud. Her fur stood on end as a ring of static arced toward Chirper.
