A couple days after the great announcement of the defeat of the known imperial traitor to the hands of some guy named Shun, Talon was getting tired of hearing the tale over and over and over again. The tale didn't make much sense to him, considering the reputation of the woman, but being a good solider he said nothing.

That and he had been preoccupied figuring out why all of the sudden he woke up one morning and Moe was sitting on his chest. Also, there was a question about how he got to the size of a barn cat, but he chose not to think of that at all. That would have surely tried his non-union braincells to their maximum limit before he got his union brain cells coffee. He staved off that entire thought process altogether.

Though, through all of that, Moe had taken acclimate to sitting on Talon's head while he was off and about. It was rather fun just laying there. It also helped Talon's posture. It was a heavy hat, but it was a cute and awesome hat and a gift. You don't deny gifts, especially when they like you.

Talon, though, right now, was about halfway in old ruins that he found a while back with another team mate of his that had vanished. Sleeper ruins marked the outside, as well as the green and red striped armor of the Tyrant just kinda chilling outside with a couple of ropes hooked up to an external servo motor joint for easy excavation of debris. So far, Talon had successfully excavated and removed the previous crap the Republic or Imperial soldiers left behind. It was sitting in a neat pile nearby the pile of rubble that had sealed the entrance. So..he really was making a huge target for himself.

And while he was digging away and taking massive pictures of them ruins, he was whistling a simple tune. Moe was helping and adding to the horrible sound that could be mistaken for singing, of course. It was a mixture of hoots and honks and chirps. It was actually quite good and Talon was really mimicking his little pal. Apparently Moe was a better singer, who knew?

"Ha ha... Very good Moe! You win again! Now... Maybe shine that light over on that statue over there so I can get a better picture, huh? " The little MRZ purred at the request and aimed that flashlight it had in its front finger thingies on its feet at the requested statue, letting Talon take a couple of digital pictures of it. Very pretty... Kinda creepy... Well preserved. Yeah. Totally not letting anyone from the museum get their grubby hands on this stuff. It was worth more where it was.

It was a relief that the entire nation had taken Shun's story, no matter what it was. They were to excited to really consider what had happened or search for any flaws in the story, though no doubt a minor few did. Knowing the Empire's pride those individuals would no doubt be punished for thinking a hero otherwise.

Nick left the imperial city soon after the parade was over. She never liked crowds and the stairs she got from her bandaged appearance was slightly irritating. People loved to gawk at the critically wounded. Or at least one that appeared so.

Nick honestly wanted to punt a little brat she over heard talking to his mother, stating that she was probably burned really bad and that he wanted to see it. OF COURSE HE WOULD!

Nick gave the little boy the evil eye and caused him to cry. The mom glared back, but said nothing.

From the great city Nick and the Jury headed straight for the temple where the Jury had dropped her off and moved away to only Judge knows where...

Nick had to search this temple for the sealed entrance, and after a good day of searching she was able to find the strange wall where the door leading deeper into the earth was. Just like the door in the last temple...

Next step was to figure out what this artifact was... Damn the Judge for making a 'game' out of this. Hopefully it would be nothing like the last surprise. Nick dread the thought of something related to the strikers...

It didn't take Nick long stumble across the first small empty room, a good three hundred feet from the secret door. With a sigh she leaned against the wall and slid to the floor.

She was still not used to the strange weight in her arm and after a day of searching Nick was ready for a quick rest. The bandages even remained over her right eye and neck as she was too worn to bother removing them...

With all the events that had taken place the ware had finally caught up to her and, with the hood of her cloak pulled over her head, she quickly drifted to a deep sleep in the dark room.

For the time being, she did not hear the new comers enter the temple and begin their search.

Signs of someone else having been there were apparent, but Talon attributed it to just robbers or stray animals that needed a place to stay. Even soldiers caught in a storm needed haven came to mind. He wasn't too alarmed. Though, he probably should be. Seriously, they looked fresh even!

Sigh, sadly he didn't really care. Probably should have, but he was more interested in the pictorial descriptions and getting them documented for later use in random drawing jam sessions more than anything else. Okay, so there was just some interesting stuff that he would pass on to his superiors, but that was it. Minimal. Nothing they would send a team for.

His spot. HIS! Mwah ha ha ha ha!

Talon continued down the passage hitting the massive indoor stairwell that he had turned back on months before. Well, now that there was hardly anything better to do and he wanted to draw this out as long as he wanted. ( Tyrant would send back signals at the appropriate intervals to let the base that all was well... Talon didn't want to deal with that sort of thing. The Raptor didn't disagree, either.)

"Mmm... Lets see whats down here, Moe. " Talon said with a smile and started down the stairs, the little MRZ chirping in agreement and glancing about the diminish staircase. It wasn't so bad. Talon had to keep his hand on the wall to prevent from falling since Moe decided to shine the flashlight wherever. It was rather annoying. But he did discover that secret door that way. Or... accidentally as he fell in, landing unceremoniously on his face in the dust.

Moe, on the other hand, ended up rolling with the flashlight and bumping into something squishy. The little MRZ was dazed and chirped furiously and adorably. This got the attention of Talon who was pushing himself off the ground and spitting old dirt out.

"Moe...Shut up. And do something useful like shine the light so I can see it! " He grumped and sat on the floor, wiping his mouth and totally wishing he had something to wipe his tongue with. Who knows what diseases could be in that dirt that he just unintentional germs

Yeah...That was a good first impression. Not that he knew that he had stumbled upon the room that Nick had taken to sleeping in. Nor did he know that Moe was now climbing on this sleeping person to shine the light around the place like ordered. Pretty much, bad first impression.

Despite being wrapped up, Nick's right eye was still on the alert. And when the MRZ had rolled into her left side she stirred a little, yet remained still.

She was not worried this time about being recognized. Her identity was pretty well hidden this time, between the bandages and the cloak, not to mention she covered her Zi mark this time around.

Her right hand tensed as it readied to attack anything that might come through the door.

She wanted to be cautious, best not to kill without knowing if the target was hostile. At least that was how her sane mind worked. The Iron Judge persona would have delighted in crushing the intruder's head be it anything that moved.

A soldier... another soldier in the temple!? Nick thought spitefully as she saw Talon clearly. As clear as the view in her right eye gets anyways. She was begging to wonder if the Imperial military had better things to do than send every soldier and their best friend to every temple she would be visiting!

Nick mentally cursed the Judge for the damn game it was playing. Best chase this one off...

"You have two seconds to get out of my sight before I send you into early retirement boy..." She growled at the soldier and flashed her sharp fangs at him.

Though she hated being portrayed as a monster, much like the Judge was going for with the alterations, it would be for the better. Especially when Nick had no idea what the artifact was this time...

Unfortunately for this group, a similar trap to the last temple would trigger soon forcing them to cooperate. For a soon as Talon was completely in the small dark room dirt would fall from the ceiling above the stairs than come down with a thunderous crash sealing them with an incredibly think wall in the dark unexplored half of the temple.

Moe, closest to the squishy lump, let out a squeal of terror and made a b-line for Talon. It didn't get vary far and ended up tripping. Apparently running with two legs was hazardous to its shell. It laid on the floor pouting and seemingly crying like a toddler throwing a tantrum. The squishy thingy talked meanly!

He had just managed to get over the amount of dirt he accidentally ingested, and Talon shot a cold glare in the direction of the voice. Oh great! Someone else in his haven. Though, he never discovered this room before, he still considered this place to be his. Something snarky could have passed his lips, but those sharp teeth made him reconsider.

"Okay. Whatever you say. " the explorer said while getting up to his feet and brushing off the dust from his pants and shirt. Moe was still throwing a large tantrum and that was starting to bother Talon. Couldn't the MRZ choose another time to act like a human child? His eye gave a twitch at the embarrassing display. "I'm just going to take Moe and leave, and come back another time. " He stated, clearly not amused about this encroachment of territory.

But he was reasonable. The woman, or did it sound like a woman? Sounded like a woman from the harshness of the voice and the bitterness in it. Oh and that growling, only women could growl like that. Yeaaah he was getting out of here. Anyways, the woman had been here first and she did have a right to go and explore it first.

Though, no sooner did he take a couple of steps inside to retrieve the distraught catlike MRZ did he feel the room rumble and the exit route close. Rather then turn around and run to the closed door, Talon just stood there, mentally cursing himself for stepping inside and not barking at Moe to get up and walk out. Moe, on the other hand was still clinging to that flashlight that was shining on a completely useless part of the ceiling, shaking slightly that it was now trapped with some scary lady thingy.

Talon took a deep breath, calming himself from panicking, set the MRZ on his shoulder, then tried to smile. It worked for the most part, minus his right eye twitching in his anger. "Not my plan. I want out of here. And I'd prefer to get out of here in one piece if its manageable, er being person thingy. And I would also like to point out that I had no intention of staying here. " He glared to the slightly illuminated MRZ. The little thing squeaked and chirped indignantly. More eye twitches, and Talon nabbed the flashlight from the little dino and ran the beam of light over the seams of the doorway and the flooring just before it, searching for something that didn't take too long. Essentially, your run of the mill pressure plate that triggers traps.

"Fantastic..." He muttered then shut the light off to conserve battery and to let his eyes adjust to the practically pitch black darkness. Yep. He was so doomed.

Nick only watched as the new soldier begun to spew words and back away from the . Fear had saved this man's life, or at least it would have. When the dirt begun to fall from the ceiling Nick's heart sunk like an iron ball to her stomach. Of course this place would have traps! But why hadn't she set them off? This one had bad luck all about him.

Nick decided to drop the monster act and go for a different persona. Slowly she go to her feet. Yup, a woman.

"Obviously... " Nick sighed.

The difference now was that they were in an enclosed room with a limited supply of oxigen. At least that is what it seemed. Nick knew better of these temples. There was a door somewhere.

The light change didn't create any issues for her sight, the right eye could see just fine. Even through it was covered in bandages.

The walls were clear, no other door there. The floor, however, had a strange pattern of brick positioning... They would move. Or fall.

Nick didn't set off any traps, perhaps her metallic half wouldn't set the traps off?

"Would you mind coming here..." Nick spoke flatly, not sure if he would or not. Especially after her first display of aggression.

Self preservation, actually. But fear worked like that sometimes. Talon didn't really move from his spot, figuring that there would be more traps. In fact, he counted on numerous ones. Why couldn't he get caught in a place where there was a reliable light source and clean running water ? That would have been too much to ask for.

He heard shifting and instead tilted his head in that direction to hear better. Humans had horrible night vision, and just as crappy hearing, but their hearing could be good if they trained themselves to hear stuff. Yeah. Like Talon would take the time to do that. Hindsight was always crystal clear.

At her request to move, he frowned, even sneered. There was a cold chuckle and Talon spoke, "Right. I cannot see a thing, there is bound to be more traps in this room then just a pressure plate for the door, and I'm not risking it. Even with light that's a stupid thing to do. " There was also the factor that just moments ago this one snapped at him and threatened to kill him. Like hell would he trust this woman.

Moe, on the other hand had stopped shivering and hopped/clattered to the floor. It bit onto Talon's pant leg and started tugging towards this strange woman that didn't seem all to scary now. Talon ignored it for the most part, but when he heard small sounds of fabric tearing he shook Moe off and grumbled, flicking on the flashlight and scanning the patterned stone floor, noting that the dark and light tiles had been at one point painted the same color. "Alright! Fine. " he grumbled, watching Moe dart off in the reflecting light towards the shadowy woman person.

So, in true adventurer style, Talon carefully stepped onto the first dark stone brick, testing the weight and everything of it. Sure that it was safe he brought his other foot to try a lighter stone... yeah.. no.. The brick turned out to be aged plaster and his foot fell right through. He issued a rather colorful curse and quickly hopped across, keeping to the darker tiles. Moe clambered up Talon's body and perched on his shoulder, chattering nervously and excitedly that his human was all safe and in one piece.

An easy puzzle, but probably earlier on in the temple's life it had been more difficult. The uniform color would have screwed with everyone but those that knew the temple... Talon had half the mind to see what lay beneath the rest of the plaster tiles, but then again, he really didn't want to know right now. It could be flesh eating bugs or the run of the mill metal spikes. Maybe even just a pit to nowhere that was filled with broken and dead bodies... His mind could go on and on, and promptly shut off after the more squeamish brain-cells rallied together to silence those churning thoughts.

"Well? " he asked the woman, the light clicking off as Talon had taken to crossing his arms over his chest and waiting for an explanation for all of this. That explanation would probably never come, but it was worth hoping for. Of course, he was trying to be all angry and upset but he kept feeling a soft breeze nearby so he was off looking in that direction. It happened to be a very sturdy looking wall. Which was mildly confusing, but Moe was still chattering so he was distracted with that as well.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 09, 2010 11:48 pm

Nick caught every disgusted facial expression and matched it with her won frown. Talon would be very lucky that Moe had forced him to obey the command.

Her right hand flexed making a soft metallic grinding noise. She would have pulled him herself. Armed or not. The thought of staying in this place wasn't very appealing.

Nick grinned as the room rumbled. Just as she thought. Though...

The ground begun to crack and the bricks begun to cave in, by the sound of the bricks hitting the hard floor below the drop would at least be 15ft or so.

One thing was clear, the ancients must have had a lot of time on their hands to plan such elaborate traps. Or perhaps they were not traps at all? Tests of the will? Determination?

It still didn't help the fact that the room's floor was now collapsing.

Nick lunged forward to grab the soldier's arm with her right hand, hopefully preventing him from falling. It would seem the ledge she was on was not going to fall.

Well trained ZOID pilots could land safely from those heights, jumping in and out of a cockpit was good enough training for that. However, uneven grounds or spikes (Especially spikes) could seriously damage a pilot regardless.

Moe squeaked and chirped angrily and frightened when the whole room started to rumble again. Talon just stared up at the ceiling and promptly flipped it off in his utter annoyance. A gesture to the ancient Zoidians probably wouldn't ever be seen ( by someone who had his own fantastic eyesight in the dark) until light was shone on the little excursion, but it made him feel better.

That was until the floor beneath him started collapsing. First thought, get Moe out of there. So, he grabbed the little sucker and threw him at what he thought to be where that one crazy looking lady was. Moe wouldn't hit Nick, but sort of go ' Aieeeee!!-whizzzzz--CLUNK' as he'd fly by, hit the wall and slide off it unharmed for the most part.

Satisfied, it was only then as he did indeed start to fall that Talon realized the major flaw in his plan. He was still floating above an unknown doom that may or may not contain spikes. For a split moment, he contemplated how that would really put a damper on his day. Not to mention really make him fork over his savings in medical bills if he survived. If.

That was of course moments before he felt an arm reach at him, and fearing that it was indeed another trap, took a step back. Probably not the smartest idea, but it was only after he realized that it was probably a helping hand that he let out another colorful curse for his stupidity. The floor was falling from under him and he felt that the stone tiles beneath him were collapsing. Sweetness! With a yelp and a grunt, Talon leaped out as well as he could towards that ledge. Nothing like potential death to get you motivated for stupid stunts.

"Oooph! Ow.. " He groaned having hit the edge of the ledge with his stomach. But, he held on tightly. Maybe he hadn't been so far off. Then again, he had no clue what was there due to the lack of light. He sort of just hung there, dangling over who knows what, realizing that he kinda would like help but was a little too proud to ask for it from this woman. "Ah... Well, this is exciting. I don't know if I'd rather be listening to another out of proportion tale of a hero or here where I could potentially die! " Moe, by then had recovered and wandered over, booping Talon's nose with its armored mask in concern. "That doesn't help me, Moe. " Talon hissed through his teeth as he felt his upper body slip. Crap.

So he tried to reach out for anything he could get his hands on. Nick was close by... and she had tried to help him out earlier. Maybe she wouldn't mind if he used her ankle as a pull-up? "Apollogies. Help? " The abridged of ' Normally I wouldn't ask for help in any situation, ut something came up. You wouldn't mind if I just grabbed your ankle and used your body as a sort of pull up before I slip and fall to my possible doom via probable impalement?' ... Yeah. The simplistic version could mean anything.

This one wasn't as 'graceful' as the last soldier she had a temple adventure with, but he did have quick reflexes. The little MRZ seemed to have more style though...

Oddly, Nick was reminded of a pair of clowns, one angry and the other just, squeaky.

Nick caught herself before she leaned to far forward.

She took a step back just as Talon made his leap frog move, giving him what little room was left on the ledge.

"...." She peered down the hole to see if there were really spikes down there.

A few around the edges, if one landed wrong they would find them quite easily. But in the center there was a clear landing provided by the rubble that once was the floor. Not to mention several places that one could twist an ankle if the landing was less than perfect.

There was also a path leading away from the room. Good, deep temple. Perhaps they would be so lucky that this one lead out miles and miles away from where they were now.

Lucky for Talon, seeing as he didn't have an Organoid to go fetch his ZOID.

When Talon requested help she looked at the dangling pilot. This was going to be a long trip. Quickly she knelt down than grabbed the back of his uniform and gave him one good lift onto the ledge.

Talon grumbled a thank you to the woman as he had assistance in clamoring up onto the small ledge. Normally, he wouldn't accept such thing, but he hadn't the choice and it wasn't that hard to swallow his pride. Moe climbed up and roosted on Talon's head, squeaking inquisitively at the woman.

Talon, though, was patting his pockets down to see if he could find that flashlight of his. Ah...no. Sadly his mini light was gone. However he did have that LED light he kept on his set of keys. Yeah. Not quite yet. He'd use that only if he had to. For now he had to take a leap of faith ( har-har) and trust this woman that seemed to be able to see in the dark from what little he could see.

He brushed his hands on his surely soiled uniform to try to get the dust off as well as he could out of a nervous tick, or a slightly bumbling trick to throw folks off. But by now he was sure he seemed like an utter idiot. Talon then observed Nick, or the dark shadow that was what he assumed to be Nick from the buzz of electronics in that direction.

Talon frowned softly and decided to ask a question that would probably lend him a quick throw to his death in the pit. "Who are you? " he asked quietly, frowning in contemplation. Never mind why she was here, who she was was seemed more important. Obviously Nick had reason to be here. What that was, Talon couldn't muster up a care in a world.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:51 pm

Nick turned her head to the pilot as he inquired her name. The soldier would get a quick glimpse of the red glow in her right eye, the cloth of the bandage strips dimmed it considerably, but it was still noticeable in the pitch black.

This guy seemed to have his priorities in order. She was very thankful to -not- have to come up with some BS story why she was sleeping or even inside the temple. A story about her family heirlooms wouldn't cut it this time. Now she just needed to think of a name.

First thing to come to mind, Her favorite 'incognito'.

"Leyenda..." She spoke plainly before leaping down into the hole.

Nick really didn't care to ask who he was. 1) She would get the information latter and 2) perhaps he wouldn't tell her in any case. It was a waist of breath.

Talon would hear a hard thud and a metallic echo as her steel toe boots made contact with the rock. After a moment she moved forward to give the soldier some room, should he choose to jump as well. Leaving him here was not really an option in her mind. Despite his attitude, no one deserved this.

Curious was the way her eyes seemed to glow from beneath what looked to be cloth. Talon frowned at this new discovery, and kept his comments to himself. She probably got into some sort of accident, he told himself, to receive such odd optics. That would also explain the electronic and mechanical sounds coming from her. Perhaps when they weren't in such peril he would ask.

Better yet, he'd just ignore it and count his blessings that she hadn't crushed his skull yet.

He raised his eyebrow at the name. Eh... Not that he didn't believe her, but figuring that this wasn't the best place to meet people at her name was most likely false. Not that he would have given his own name out. Anonymous was best in this case, and Talon didn't say anything in reply other than a guttural grunt in acknowledgment to her word.

Moe squeaked and hooted in a panic as the woman leaped into the unknown. Talon didn't hold his breath, and counted the seconds to the sound of 'Leyenda''s feet touching the ground. It wasn't too far. He peered into the darkness, noted where she was on the floor from the glowing of her eye and well... hopped down himself, much to the disapproval of Moe.

It was a little off, as in he fell short of the clear area by a couple inches, but not too much. Talon's foot slipped on some sand and he tumbled forward. He gave a yelp in surprise and quickly tucked his head in, and uncurling to lay on the floor for a bit while he mentally cursed at himself for not paying better attention. ...That was when Moe leaped down and landed squarly on Talon's stomach, and bounced off to attempt to climb up onto the woman's shoulder who seemed to be able to see in this dark. "Ach! "

Talon did get up, growling curses at Moe and again brushing himself off. He wasn't about to get left behind in this desolate area. That would mean death and he kinda wanted to live. That and he figured Tyrant was getting worried and he wanted to hurry back.

At least he wasn't scared to jump... Nick thought as she watched his smooth landing. And even smoother landing of the MRZ. It, in an odd way, reminded her of Kagi. More so that it caused innocent discomfort of the owner. It was just being, it. Not that she saw the greed and blood lust in this thing.

When it came her way she hesitated letting it climb on her, but gave in seeing as it reminded her of her good friend.

Gently she set it on her left shoulder. The metallic right shoulder was heavy enough as it was and she figured it wouldn't be comfortable near such sharp edges.

Amazingly he was just shy of having a shish-ka-bob for a foot. His luck was debatable at this point.

"Are you alright?" Nick remained still as she waited for a reply.

At least he was able to stand on his own. Nick wasn't amused by the thought of acting like a crutch through this temple. Especially if they found the Judge's artifact before he could get out safely.

By looking at the strange bird-like statues in the corners of the room, she had a feeling this 'artifact' was not going to be pleasant for either of them.

You kinda lost fear in this environment when new things get thrown at you. Then again, Talon was still smarting from the surprise of the MRZ pouncing on his squishy abdomen, and was quite thankful the little thing hadn't decided to land on his ribcage. That would have hurt. A lot more.

Moe was totally fine with spikes, but cooed and chirped as he was placed on a squishy shoulder. In fact, he was so pleased he nuzzled the woman's neck and flopped there, looking more like a stuffed metallic toy she just threw over her shoulder.

Talon, figuring from the sounds the little annoyance was making that Moe was fine, decided to look around in the limited light after standing up and brushing himself off. Yeah, he could have ended up limping and bleeding a little too much. He frowned in thought then cast his limited vision to the one glowing eye lady. And Moe. "I've had worse falls. " He stated, leaving it at that.

He shifted to move towards the light, then paused. How did he not know there wasn't any more sudden drops? He didn't. He had been lucky on that one and in fact even more lucky from his instinct to tuck and roll when he slipped. So, since he had no other choice, he rummaged through his pockets, pulled out a set of keys, blindly pulled the little LED pen flashlight off the ring set and quickly ran the beam of light along the floor so he could get his barrings.

Even so, his light fell onto one of the avian-esque statues. He didn't like the looks of them. Not at all. In fact, he seemed to smile, anticipating doom. An eye twitched in agreement to his assessment. Well, today was going to be fun. He looked back over to 'Leyenda', a brow quirked in a silent question of ' Now where?' .
