- Total time skip -

It was an hour or so before the graying Shakaiyo began to stir from the now extremely common, and annoying fainting spell he'd suffered. He was dizzy, a far cry from actually being able to stand on his own, and he was truly trying to piece together where he was and exactly how he'd gotten here.

The last he remembered he'd been trapped amongst a group of Shakaiyo with one overly friendly male, and a genuinely polite female, but that really didn't explain where he was now...

Through his blurred eyesight the male caught sight of something purple in color, it appeared close by, and for a split second he had a recollection of a purple Shakaiyo across the clearing he'd been in, but it was gone, nearly as quickly as it had come.

Spiritpaw had not been idle as the male had remained unconscious. After bringing him to the meadow near her burrow, she had set him carefully on some piled grasses, then set about getting a shell filled with water for him and bringing it over, as well as some food. By the time that was done and she'd settled on the other part of the clearing, keeping her ears open for anything that may pose a threat to her guest/patient, it wasn't much longer before he stirred.

Looking over, the female spoke quietly, her tone calm and soothing. "Welcome back," She stayed still, not making any sudden movements. "There's water and food if you look to your left. You're in a small open clearing - if you head right, you'll be going north." She offered this information freely, knowing that he would likely be wondering where he was, and what was going on, and likely how to get away as well. "I saw what happened, but I didn't think you'd appreciate another Shakaiyo crowding you. When you fainted, I felt that enough was enough, and you needed a safe place to be where you wouldn't be crowded, and would be free to leave the moment you felt like it, with nothing blocking your path."

The second the words began hitting the male's ears, his body grew stiff and he could feel a small dull pain in his leg,, had he bothered it when he fell? He quickly shook it off though and focused on every word the female offered him, even if he could barely make it out over the quick rhythm of his own heart beat.

His panic normally would have intensified the closer the female's voice got to his ears, but oddly he seemed not exactly comfortable - but not over bearing with fear either, and was she offering him directions out of here?!

The tension relaxed in the male's shoulders as he took a look around trying acquaint himself with the area, he rose his nose to the air as discreetly as possible and tried to catch a hint of recollection, oddly he did. Though the area was still very alien like to him, obviously he was somewhat close to his own territory. Looking down once again he noted the food and water this unknown female had provided and for a split second he thought of rushing over to thank her, but in that split second his anxiety kicked into overtime.

"I-I don't understand why you would go through such lengths for someone you don't know-"

He stopped for a split second, and quickly picked back up his speech.

"NOT that i'm not grateful - Thank you very much! This is just very new to me, and -"

Tirion stopped in his tracks and his voice gave out on him, instead of attempting to force the voice he simply hid his head in his paws and hoped for the courage to properly thank this Shakaiyo for her efforts.

Spiritpaw watched the male closely, but in a discreet manner from behind the paw she was presently mashing a poultice with that, if he'd allow her to give it to him, would help dull the pain in his leg while she examined it. As he seemed to relax and freeze in equal doses, she smiled patiently and cleaned her paw on the poultice leaf.

"I don't like seeing people frightened or overwhelmed. I like it even less when I see them hurt. If I can do something to help, whether it be something small, or many things, or just one big thing, then I like to go out of my way to do it. I suppose it's just in my nature."

She smiled then, tucking her paw under her and lowering to the ground, so she was even less intimidating then she already was, sitting at such a distance from him. "You needn't worry about thanking me. I'm happy enough knowing that I was useful to someone."

She paused a moment, then stated, "My name is Spiritpaw, by the way. You don't have to tell me yours, if it makes you uncomfortable," the second part she added in just as smoothly and unobtrusively as she had given him the escape directions. It was clear her main concern was his comfort.

The anxiety ridden male tried to force his bleary eyes into a more acceptable state, but his fainting spell still seemed to be holding some effects. Sure he could see a slight bit better than he had when he'd awoken, but now his vision just seemed too bleary, as he hid his head between his paws he tried to secretly wipe his eyes, but that hadn't worked. If anything he'd probably gotten more sand and dirt into them. He tried blinking, but that only clouded his vision more, instead he settled for coming out from his horrible hiding spot. He looked over at the female who had momentarily stopped speaking - she appeared to be working with something ... but what was it? He tried to catch some sort of scent off the air as a hint, but it wasn't a success, instead he began to listen as the female spoke again - she was no longer fiddling with anything, and instead had taken a low stance towards the ground. Tirion immediately suspected her of beginning a pounce, and swiftly crawled backwards, bumping lightly into a tree just behind him.

A small grunt escaped his mouth as he closed his eyes and wished he could disappear - ANYTHING, before this female attacked him!

But instead she merely introduced herself, which threw the elder male for a loop and caused his jaw to drop, he quickly close it again out of manners and tried to find his voice so he could speak to her.

"No - no it's only fair that I introduce myself back right?!"

His voice was still frantic from his overreaction.

"It's Ti-ri-on and it's a pleasure to have been rescued by you."

Tirion politely dipped his head in approval, and mentally tried to chase his annoying stutter out of his head, surely this female wouldn't stick around with someone weirdo who couldn't even speak right.

When the male seemed to panic and back away, Spiritpaw remained very still, waiting for him to calm down as she spoke and come to realize on his own that she had no intentions of attacking him. When he spoke, she lifted her whiskers in a slight smile that seemed completely unaware of his nerves and completely nonjudgmental when it came to his frightened mannerisms. After receiving his name, Spiritpaw dipped her head to him in turn and replied, "Tirion is quite a pleasant name. I'm honored to know it."

Glancing away from him to her poultice, she contemplated the best way to approach the next situation, then opted to explain everything to him so he could make the decision on his own. Looking back, she twitched her whiskers up again before speaking, her tone still soothing and accepting. "I noticed that you hurt your paw, and took the liberty of mixing this up for you. You might need some help bandaging the leg, but you could probably put this on yourself if you don't want me coming too close. It will help take the ache away," she explained.

This female didn't seem nearly as dangerous as he'd originally thought - actually as his vision cleared he seemed to get the vibe that she was incapable of violence all together. Whether it was her facial expressions, or the delicate way she maneuvered around him, he wasn't sure, it was just a vibe. But he quickly shrugged it off, attempting to chase the anxiety mentally crippling him. This really had gone too far, this female had had to SAVE him for goodness sake.

The male nodded his head in silent agreement to himself just as the female complimented his name, for a second, he wondered if she had thought he was nodding to her? But again he shook it off, and it actually sent a shiver down his spine for a moment.

He watched, silently yet carefully as the female thought out her next move, so she really had noticed his injury, had she noticed it before he had? Probably since she seemed to be working with this poultice when he had awaken.

As she explained her purpose to him he quickly understood, that maybe she was afraid of him! The thought made the Shakaiyo release a small rough laugh as he pictured her fearing him, he didn't want that, and surely didn't understand it, but maybe she feared him for his crazy antics? Most likely, was his guess.

"NO, no I'm not bothered by someone getting close, it's actually quite comforting to be near someone, I just don't do very well once i'm in their personal space."

The male smiled wearily and continued.

"Your help would be more than appreciated and I promise to try and remain calm while you're near me, but please understand that all I can do is try!"

Spiritpaw gazed at Tirion quietly, waiting for him to relax enough to see she was of no threat to him, then listened with interest to his answer. She raised her whiskers again in a slight smile and replied, "I see, that makes sense." She waited a moment, before stating, "Alright, I understand if you get nervous -- so please tell me if and when you want me to back off. We can take as much time as you need." She gave him a moment to process that -- even if he told her to back off for awhile, she'd still be willing to come back and keep working until his paw was properly tended, no matter how many tries Tirion needed. After sufficient time had passed, Spiritpaw stated softly so as not to alarm him, "Alright then - I'm going to stand and bring this over to you. Tell me to stop if my movements make you nervous or edgy. It's not my intention to upset you in any way." With that, Spiritpaw slowly lifted herself to her feet, waiting a moment to see if Tirion was ready to have her approach him.

The graying Shakaiyo nodded in agreement to the female who's only intent seemed to of a helping nature.

He was of course more than grateful for her actions and quickly commented to try and make her feel more comfortable.

"No I don't think there will be need for more than one attempt - like I said, I will be on my best behavior."

He nodded to the female trying to exude confidence, but really only succeeding in proving how truly scared he was. For once his voice had not cracked, but he was shaking like a leaf, and if she couldn't see that, she obviously must be blind. That sent the male more than a bit self conscience, and his shaking kicked into high gear, of course he tried to suppress it, but with little success. He'd managed to calm his paws from shaking, and instead his tail was now quivering in absolute fear.

Attempting to pull his mind from the fear at hand, Tirion spoke up once again, hoping the female wouldn't mind his change in conversation.

"Would it be alright for me to ask what my savior happened to be doing out there? I - I -"

A quick and sharp intake of breath, and a moment later he attempted to finish his sentence.

"I hadn't noticed you there, before - before I got ambushed"

He let out a small giggle and it felt great! He could actually laugh around someone else! Regardless of his shaking like a leaf, he was more than elated that his anxiety had allowed him that small attempt at happiness.

"I was actually just enjoying the afternoon, but it looks like the gods may have had something else in store for me."

The female smiled calmly and took a few steps closer to the male, the entire time keeping eye contact and doing her best not to startle him further than he already was at this point.

As she took her final steps, the female let out a light laugh and gently set the poultice down on the ground and dabbed her paw in it, then slowly raised it to the awaiting male.

As the quivering ball of fur attempted to calm himself, he did little more than to make the situation worse for himself, and he feared, the purple female.

Quickly attempting to yet again come to his senses, Tirion snapped his eyes shut and furiously began shaking his head, trying to chase away the scary warnings his mind was throwing at him.

This female meant him no harm - She'd saved him! Why on earth would she save him, only to bring him back and kill him?

Unless...

NO!"

The male yelped the words far too quickly to realize their reaction, and with a gasp looked up into the eyes of the extremely confused and frozen female above him.

The female froze in a split mixture of confusion and shock.

had she done something wrong? Hurt her patient? Startled him?

The possibilities were endless and so were her thoughts.

Shuffling through them as quickly as she could, Spirit quickly found her tongue and began bombarding the male with quiestions in hopes of finding the problem.

"I didn't hurt you did I? I'm very sorry if I did I was trying to be as calm and gentle as possible!"

"REALLY I was!"
