The sun felt so good against the dark chocolate length of her side as she basked in lazy bliss at the edge of the meadow. The convenient shade of a tree protected honey eyes from the bright rays of the sun, but it's slow journey over head would soon force her to move if she wanted to remain so darn comfortable. She'd already moved once, and vowed it'd be the last, but that was about an hour ago, and the pesky ball of fire in the sky simply refused to bow to her will and stay still.
She had options, granted. She could just stay as she was, and do her best to ignore the sun. Of course then she'd have to either keep her eyes closed or squint against the glare, and neither really seemed all that appealing. Neither did moving, come to that, but of the few options she had, it was starting to seem like the lesser evil. That she'd even have to pick between such distasteful plans was irritating, but she refused to let it ruin her mood. She was relaxed, she was comfortable, and she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

On days like today, for most soquili, there was a reason to get up every morning. The sun beamed above the treetops, bigger and more powerful than anything else overlooking the meadow and it was considerably warmer than days past. Little animals scattered about the ground, chasing each other and laughing as if ignorant to the rest of the world. Not a drop of danger or sadness could be found in any parts of the land today - no, for today was a grand day and yet...for one particular stallion, it was the exact kind of day that he avoided at all costs.
It wasn't as if he was heartless and the idea of a 'happy' day for his homelands disgusted him. He honestly didn't really mind it if others basked in their blissfulness while he loomed in the darkness, it was just the fact that sunny days meant there would be more soquili up and about. As if he needed another reason to hide his face in the shadows. Apparently his face screamed that he was an approachable guy, since throughout his young adult life up to this point, he'd find himself stuck in a conversation or twenty. Most of the time he ignored the said soquili and went about his business but after a while of the same old same, he began to get annoyed. Was it him, or were there way to many friendly creatures of his own kind? He had yet to meet a soquili he deemed worthy enough to stick around and have an actual heart-to-heart type of conversation with, and it bugged him. Had no one here have any sense at all? Were they all so wrapped up with themselves that they failed to notice he'd rather spend the rest of his life alone??
The towering stallion shrugged the thoughts away as he walked down a small path that was crunched down (probably by two-leggers) in the meadow. Whatever everyone's problem was, it wasn't his and so he shouldn't let it bother him so much. He supposed the real problem was himself, had he not been such an uncaring stallion, perhaps his opinions would be different? His sister for one, was as outgoing as the next mare but she always said he was that way because of the fun it provided for her. Ugh, fun? He kind of hoped his sister meant screwing around with stallions, otherwise he'd consider one of them. Nah, his sister and him were too close for him to dislike her based on her actions. He grinned. Yea...they were way too close.
The sun continued to beat down at his plain coat as he continued to walk down the man-made path. It didn't seem like it would go away fast enough, so Boone was prepared for the worst. Sure enough someone was bound to approach him and start chatting away, unaware of his glaring orbs full of disgust. As a foal he was under the impression that his black eyes would turn away any unsuspecting fool, just by their color alone but that was usually not the case. Black was the color of death and darkness, and it fit his personality quite well, but to most soquili as it would seem, eyes didn't really mean a thing.
"Damn." He spat, most certainly not in the mood to talk. But he knew it was coming whether he was ready or not. Who would he be a victim of today?

Grunting, the dark mare strained her neck, keeping her face in the shade as long as humanly possible. She'd come to accept that she'd eventually have to move, not gracefully, of course, but she'd stall the inevitable if she could. Procrastination at it's best, or perhaps just laziness, Dmittria had fallen into habits of both since her youth. Her mother's sudden and complete abandonment was a convenient scape-goat for her varied and numerous character flaws, but the reality was Dmi was just selfish.
As a foal she'd been little less, but not by much. She was demanding and lazy, and her poor father, bless him, let her get away with way too much. She believed firmly in the mentality 'Why do for yourself, when others can do it for you', and employed that reasoning to nearly all things. A bat of honey eyes, a toss of her mane, or a seductive flick of her tail generally worked wonders in that respect. And because she never stuck with one stallion for very long, they never grew the wiser to the one-sided situation of things. It was an arrangement that had been working wonders for some time now, and one Dmi intended to continue using for years yet to come. Her complete lack of interest in babies fit in perfectly with this life style.
As a band of bright sunlight crossed her eyes she heaved a resigned sigh, rolling to get her long legs under her again so she could stand. A toss of her head shook the dried grass and bits of wilderness from her mane, and with a lengthy yawn, the mare got to her hooves. Walking a few feet to the side in search of a new place that'd do wonderfully as a resting place for the next couple hours or so. She was pawing at the ground of a promising looking bit of grass when something wandering along the path caught her eye.
Ears turned forward, Dmi watched the pale stallion as he trudged along in what she had to image with a sore sort of mood. He didn't look very happy, in any case. She mulled of the idea of calling out to him, but found herself wondering if she really cared to have a conversation right that moment. Sure he was a handsome looking stallion, and she wasn't opposed to little summer romance, specially considering she was actually single for once and it as killing her. On the other hand, the bit of ground she'd pawed into a soft mound was very inviting.
Sinking down to her knees and further to her side, she kept her eyes on the male, weighing her options silently as she watched him wander slowly closer.

The noise he heard was way too close for comfort. Had he heard a small creature ruffle through the tall grass he would have shrugged it off and kept his gaze lowering to the ground, but this noise was much more prominent than a simple 'crunch crunch' The towering stallion scowled as he refused to look up, knowing already that another soquili had most likely seen him and words were surely going to follow.
But after a few seconds of walking closer to the mare he didn't refused to look at, Boone realized that no one had spoken to him, nor did they bother coming any closer. If anything that noise was a figment of his paranoid imagination. Yes, that had to have been it! He was slowly going crazy, as his sister would consistently say and now he was beginning to believe her. What kind of a stallion fears contact from other creatures? What kind of a stallion hides in darkness because chatting really wasn't his thing. According to Sassa, a crazy one. Stupid Sassa and her stupid antics. Why couldn't she just stop teasing him? If she stopped teasing him and he stopped teasing her about being a whore, however, their relationship would be completely different.
And different wasn't necessarily good.
So the stallion did something out of character as he was walking toward the mare. He looked up. He looked up and gave her a big grin before even taking in the sight before him. Ack! A mare! Quickly his grin faded into an expressionless stare and he stopped in his tracks. She was certainly a pretty little thing - he wasn't going to deny that, the chocolate-y color of her coat blazed in the sunlight beaming down on the pair of them. She looked small, especially from his distance and his own towering height, but he new from experience that small mares packed the biggest punch. Ugh. Now that she had seen him notice her, would she come running and flirt? Would she want to talk about the weather, like most hyper females did? Or would she want to fight? There were so many options flowing through his mind as he just stood there and stared, none of them seemed to fit her quite well though.
So he smiled again. A genuine smile.
She just laid there, watching him and he watched her. The slight awkwardness that he felt at that moment washed over him and he felt he couldn't do anything else but smile at her. Taking a few steps closer he continued to keep that expression on his face, not taking his black orbs off the mare even for a second.
Why he was doing this, he didn't know. Perhaps he was intrigued by the fact that she didn't come running to him? Perhaps she was just too pretty to let pass. Or maybe he really was losing his mind.
"Hello."

She had actually begun to wonder if he was going to look up at all when out of the blue her tossed a brilliant grin at her. It caught the dark mare a little off guard, and the smile she managed to hitch in place before his own had faded was weak at best. Her only defense for her pale excuse for a smile had been she had not expected him to smile at her, and especially not so suddenly. Not that she wasn't worth a smile, she was, but he'd seemed so consumed by his own thoughts that she was almost positive he'd wander past with out ever noticing her.
The second smile she was more ready for, and she she could feel a sly little grin spreading along her lips, a single ear dipping back. The mare was brimming with confidence, and why not? She was fit, well groomed, and she knew how to work it. Whatever It was. The idea to haul her lazy pretty a** up to run to him had never crossed her mind. She may have called out, but Dmitrria didn't approach, she was approached, at least whenever she could help it.
The stretching silence was beginning to taste awkward, but the tall stallion saved the day with his 'Hello'. She couldn't help but widen that little smile into something a little fuller.
"Hello yourself." She shifted a leg, folding in close to her body. "You gunna stand and stare all afternoon, or are you gunna come over here and get comfortable?"
She tossed her head towards a the ground beside her, raven mane falling clear of her face to fall loose along her neck. It wasn't a demand, and there'd been no expectation to her voice when she spoke. He could take her up on her offer, or not. It was up to him.

He noticed for a second that he had caught the poor mare off guard, but that really didn't shock him because well, he caught himself off guard. Approaching someone else was as if he was breaking his own rules. But the grin happened and he couldn't take it back.
Suddenly Boone felt like a foolish, star struck stallion as the mare grinned at him a second time. She seemed please that he was there, but he looked like a damn child. Too often these young adults would drool at the sight of a pretty mare and that said mare would take advantage of the ignorant fool...and well, he might as well be that ignorant fool. He wasn't drooling at the sight of her, but he certainly felt like it. Staring? Who stares? The stallion wanted so badly to take off in the opposite direction and forget he ever even saw this mare, but someone his legs wouldn't turn around.
She was welcoming her next to him, in a very sexual way. He caught the obvious hints she tossed at him and held them tight. Was this mare like his sister? So far it appeared so. She wanted him there with her and yet she didn't even bother to ask his name first. Normally if a mare tried to talk to him they'd beg for his name and he wouldn't give it - a precautionary state so that they wouldn't be able to find him as easily next time. But she didn't ask, she just wanted his....company. And it amused him.
He stood there for a few more seconds not moving an inch of his body and then nodded very slowly. Making his way over to her, he stood towering over her small frame and looked down, his large shadow shielding her gorgeous coat from the sunlight. Ah, yes the darkness made her seem more sultry in his imagination then the one provided for him while she glistened in the sun. It fit her better. And it fit his preferences.
So he plopped down on the space she created for him. It felt weird to actually want to talk to someone, but he didn't want to let this opportunity pass.
"Are you comfortable?" He asked, without any hint of desire or amusement in his voice. It was a simple question, that was all.
Yes...he was definitely losing his mind. If only Sassa could see him now.

Noting his obvious, not discomfort, per say, but inner struggle, Dmi tried to make it easier on him. A soft smile was there to meet him after he had settled in the grass beside her. Mission accomplished, she was free to relax herself, and she let her shoulder roll back to claim a more reclined position. Face and she neck falling into the welcome shadow of the tree. A flick of her tail sent raven lengths of a soft hair spreading along the greens and browns that speckled the ground around her.
Was she comfortable? It was an innocent enough question, and the tone in which he'd asked it was amusing to Dmi for some reason. The very manner in which he so far himself was endearing to the mare, and she couldn't quite put a finger on exactly why. She'd puzzle over it later, for now she had other things to occupy her.
"Very, aren't you? There's no better place to be on a hot day then half under the shade of tree." She punctuated her comment with soft chuckle. "I'm Dmitrria."
Dmi's general rule on introductions was simple. They should be short and uncomplicated. The less information you offer freely, the more there is for the stallion to wonder about, and the more interested they'll become. This didn't work on everyone, mind, there was always the odd male out, but it worked enough. Who didn't love a good chase or challenge?
Close as he was now, The mare couldn't help but notice his impressive frame. He was a big fella, and Dmi had always had a bit of a fondness for big, strong males. She blamed it on her natural instincts, passing on the best genes and what not, even if she had no real desire to pop out kids herself.

Contrary to her current relaxed state, the stallion stayed stiff as he sat next to her. He didn't want to make it seem like he was enjoying himself - whether he really was or not wasn't the issue, it was whether or not he wanted her to get any ideas. The last thing on the stallion's mind was that, since he technically wasn't a whore nor did he bother to want to be one. Boone didn't mind sitting here with her and that was all, that in and of itself was out of character, but he'd save pondering the reason why for later.
Right now he had to deal with actually having a conversation. Wouldn't be too hard, now would it?
"Enough, yes. And as much as this is pleasant, there are far better places to stay." He shrugged, he could have listed a ton of locations throughout the land that he thoroughly enjoyed better than this particular spot, but he doubted the mare wanted to hear any of it. What was the word?? Tiny-talk? Um...small? Yes, small talk. That's what they were currently doing, just a little small talk and that didn't mean that he had to one-up or turn down everything she had to offer.
"Dmitrria?" With this he grinned, not sure whether it was a good or bad sign that she gave her name out so quickly. She hardly even knew him and yet she was able to spew valuable information out like it was everyone's business. It might have been his strange upbringing, but Boone wasn't one to directly give out his name unless he found a reason.
Had he found reason enough? His father always said that it wasn't wise to trust everyone you met based on how they looked alone. Even getting to know them off the bat was treading on dangerous waters. It was best to spend time with someone for a decent amount of time before you let them know anything about you. As a foal Boone always took that to mean literally what it was - everything. Name-by-name basis was difficult for him to get across because of his upbringing, but this mare was so quick to deliver it, he was caught off balance.
Well, he didn't really want to be rude.
"Pleasure, Dmitrria. I am Boone. So are you just sitting here waiting for a poor sap like myself to come along?" There, it was over and done with. They had exchanged names and now if the mare ever had a serious vendetta against him, she knew his name. She now knew, if she asked around, where to find 'Boone'. Ack, he'd never be rid of this mare.

Turning her head towards the sun, she let honey eyes fall closed. Content to soak up the radiant warmth for a handful of moments. She was at utter ease, a fact that readily obvious by the long legs she'd stretched out or the lazy way in which she was holding her ears. Even the smallest movements seemed like too much work at the moment, but she did flick an ear in his direction as he commented, a little oddly, on their current position.
"Oh? Maybe you can show me sometime." She kept her tone neutral and unassuming. As close as she was to him, it was hard not to notice the tension that seemed reluctant to leave him. She wasn't sue of the cause, but she didn't want to drive him of.
It had seemed to her that her original disinterest had been what inspired him to approach in the first place, and she wasn't about to change that now. It wasn't even a hard game to play, because she genuinely didn't care. Oh she could admit to his being attractive, and his company was nice enough(so far), but if he decided to wander off, she'd still have her place in the sun and would have lost nothing but time. Or so she told herself.
The only problem was that she was beginning to not want him to wander off. She could deny it all she wanted, but it didn't change things.
She nodded at his question, turning her head back to smile at him, half lidded, lazy gaze finally returning to him. "Not really. I was sitting here because it was comfortable and warm. That a sap, like yourself," She added with a small, teasing grin. "Came wandering along is just a bonus." Laughing softly, she quirked a brow at him. It wasn't exactly flirting, more like friendly banter.
"Nice to meet you Boone."

The sun screaming down on the pair of them wasn't as big as an issue as he originally assumed. Sure he'd rather be found sitting in the coldest part of a cave (based purely on the fact that it was secluded) but sunlight today sounded just as good as the cave. He admired the way she laid, basking in all the warmth's glory. Dmitrria as she called herself, didn't seem to mind the heat.
They were so different - as far as he could tell. She was everything he knew he wasn't and everything he really didn't care if he was or not. But she fascinated him because of that, she made it all work.
"If you don't mind traveling then I suppose showing you isn't that much of a burden on my part." Boone responded to her neutral tone using the same uncaring, bland tone of his own that he used since he spoke his first word. It wasn't that he didn't care, it was just how he talked. Everyone had their perks and flaws that made them who they were and he didn't care whether his 'boring' way about him made him seem boring...it was just who he was. He didn't mean to cause any harm to the mare's emotions if it happened, he'd apologize. "You seem to like the sunlight, so if I showed you my favorite spots you'd have to be prepared to distance yourself from the sun. These spots aren't normal grazing spots, if I do say so myself."
A thought passed through Boone's mind as he finished some-what teasing her about traveling with him. Why. Why was he talking to her like she deserved his attention? Did she already deserve it? Subconsciously did he think that she had earned her place among those he wanted to talk to?
He kept the monotone expression plastered on his face as the thoughts swam about, to keep her distanced from them. The last thing he wanted now, was for her to know just how messed up he could get.
Eh, she was a pretty mare and he knew it. She obviously knew it too. He wasn't going to turn down an opportunity to sit with a pretty mare just because he was 'weird'. He could hide it.
When she teased him, Boone wasn't sure if he should take it to heart or not. Teasing was usually designed to be light and fluffy comments, but he had yet to come across soquili who teased on a daily basis, so he wasn't sure if she meant anything by it. After all, he was the one who brought up the poor sap comment in the first place, she was just playing with it. Ah, yes, she was simply playing with his own words, so he decided to take it with a grain of salt and he laughed. His laugh lasted for a few seconds before subsiding, making it -almost- seem forced, but at least he did his best.
"Well, you found the perfect spot to get warm then, I must say. It's as close you can get apart from actually sitting on the sun." He paused for a moment, his darkness of orbs looking directly at her. Boone was trying to be as normal as he could fit without flying off the handle and so far it seemed to be working.
"You too, Dmitrria. I came at the perfect time! If I had walked by any later than this, who knows who you'd be sitting with. I'm glad I decided to take a walk this morning." He paid her a compliment, no matter who subtle he thought (or tried to make it) appear.

Laid back as she was, Dmi could find comfort and joy in a multitude of things. Basking in the sun had been her prerogative for the last few days, and why not? It was gorgeous out. But that didn't mean she wouldn't have enjoyed herself taking a walk or any number of other things. She was open to, well life in general, and could find something good in most situations.
Boone, she wasn't so sure about. Sure he was sitting in the sun now, but she suspected it was only because that just happened to be where he'd found her. It wasn't easy reading him, but Dmi was enjoying trying to.
"I don't mind traveling at all. I'm something of a wanderer, I guess. You see more that way." Her tone was calm and even, and did a rather good job of portraying her demeanor. She wasn't a hyper mare, nor really loud or over the top. She was however, blunt, occasionally tactless, and flaky.
She gave a soft snort at his teasing, flipping her mane over her opposite shoulder. "I like what I'm in the mood for at the time. Today it's the sun, but tomorrow I might be more inclined to the shade and cool breezes."
A shift in her weight subsequently resulted in her shoulder resting against his side. It hadn't been on purpose, not consciously anyways, but she didn't move away, casual touch didn't bother her. "Privacy and seclusion can be nice sometimes. Crowds are over rated anyways."
They actually had more in common then Dmi was aware. She wasn't a fan of crowds, and she tended to be very picky with just whom she cared to talk to. Sure, she was less picky when it came to males, but that was only until she got to know them enough to realize if she really cared for the company or not.
She chuckled at his comment about the sun. Grinning up at him. She had to say, she was pretty happy with the spot, and just what came as a result of her picking it.
"Oh now be careful, or you'll have people thinking to believe in things like fate." She was teasing again, it was obvious from her tone and cheeky grin she had directed at him. She didn't disbelieve in fate, not really. She was just a very large skeptic. Though she had to admit she agreed with what he'd said. She was glad it was him that had stumbled upon her. He was likable, endearing, and quite attractive. A dangerous combination.
