Kabichi walked along the outskirts again. Out of sight, out of mind. If she wasn't seen she couldn't be hurt. It wasn't her home she feared... It was the constant threat of intruders. Being alone reminded her of the past, alone. Always alone. Was it a curse?
Sairin padded out, white toes feeling good grass beneityh them, and he blinked, spying white, blue, and violet. Kabichi? The male blinked, padding over and gave a greeting roar, wondering what was going on.
Kabichi jumped, spinning to face the much larger male. She was frightened at first, but then calmed.
"Hello, Sairin."
"HJello. I didn't mean to startle you." He blinked. Kabichi shrugged.
"It's OK... I scare easily." She smiled weakly, tired. Sairin tilted his head.
"Why?"
Kabichi blinked, looking up to him.
"I... Guess I've been jumpy since my father died."
Sairin paled.
"He died?"
"...Yes. He was killed."
Silence, and Sairin felt a tinge of familiarity to the situation.
"Go on..."
"My father was the son of Primitus' past life... But... His brother Tyranny hatyed him... So he tracked down my father, and attacked us... To get at my grandfather."
Sairin paled under his dark pelt, listining. The lioness never spoke of this, clearly shown as she began to cry.
"My brother died first. Fuego... Feugo thought he wanted to play... But... He broke his neck... Tore him open... He..." Kabichi shivered.
"He threw the body at my father. Father told my sister and I to hide... Mother managed to get to Kohpi... I couldn't leave father... And then... He snapped his neck.... So... So easily..."
Kabichi's tears came faster, her cheeks sopping.
"Father fell in front of me... I tried to run... He almost caught me... I would have died if Grandfather hadn't come... Hadn't... Hadn't..." Kabichi began to sob, hysterically. Sairin blinked. Hew didn't need to know more, and moved, wrapping a paw around her gently.
"I... See...."
"Those eyes... Those terrible eyes..."
"He won't find you." Sairin reassured her. "If he does, your safe. This place is safe, if there are Gods at all."
At least, he hoped so. They hadn't shown him much favor, and it bothered him. Still, he hoped...
Kabichi smiled sadly, licking his cheek.
"Thank you."
"Erm..." Sairin looked around quickly, then nosed her ear.
"Your welcome."
Kabichi smiled again, sinking down. Sairin blinked, sinking wityh her, finding her asleep, head on his paws.
...Huh. Shje was sort of sweet when she slept. Sairin shook his head, laying down. Very soon, they were both fast asleep.
