Semhaina picked her way carefully along the forest path, not knowing where she was going or why. Though she was uncomfortable with the crush and crowds of the bustling village, that was still normally her preference. She couldn't enjoy, nor be at ease in the forest, being surrounded by so much life, stifled by the pure sense of time. And yet, somehow she found herself here.

No matter where she went, she could never escape it. She heaved a sigh of sadness. Life was everywhere, and conversely, so was death. There was just no place free of the burden she felt near either.

She kicked a stone in front of her and regarded the ground as she wandered on waiting for something, anything to shake her out of the stupor she'd fallen into.

Quietly as kitten, Pade stalked her prey. She hadn't seen people in quite awhile, and was delighted to find a new source of amusement. For awhile, she prentended to be a fierce predator, ever so carefully stalking what would soon be her dinner, and smiled... Carefully and silently, she followed the girl with flaming hair. She seemed to be in low spirits, which made Pade feel a slight pinch of sadness, herself. It made Pade frown, and forget her little game of hunting.
'This won't do!' she thought. 'She could smile a bit.'
She saw her kicking a rock, and grinned. '...Or at least, change the gloomy face of hers into something else!' and with that she snuck behind her and, gently poking the girl on her sides, and said an almost whispered "boo!"

Semhaina walked on, lost in her thoughts and regrets, so in her own little world that she didn't notice the eyes or body of the twilif that was following her. Completely oblivious to any danger. So it was that when the little one behind her poked her rather ticklish sides and whispered "boo" in her ears, she couldn't help her reactions and gave a rather startled gasp, though she managed to avoid jumping out of her skin by sheer force of will.

She stopped in place and whirled around. Just where was the creature that dared to accost her thus? Golden eyes narrowed as she scanned her surroundings, taking in the forest for the first time since she entered. She noticed the mischievious twilif and lifted her chin aristocratically as she tried to glare menacingly. "And just who and what do you think you are, to be attacking me like this?"

She made sure to keep the chill of autumn in her voice. Didn't the other know better than to attack a stranger, especially if they didn't know what powers they had, or whether they were likely or not to attack? A few measured breaths restored her calm, and she made sure her own abilities lay quiet beneath her skin.

Pade smiled, delighted, at the tiny gasp that the girl let out, along with noticing the sublte tensing of her body with restraint of a more stronger reaction. Her delight was somewhat hindered by the icy tone in which the other demanded reasons for her actions, to which Pade merely blinked her eyes in astonishement.
After a moments silence and solemn staring at the girl, Pade decided that the ice was something else than mere hostility, hemmed at the girl, and ran off with a laugh. After reaching cover of the woods, she quieted her laughter, changed her direction and commenced following the now more than ever intriguing girl. Silently and with agility that would have made a squirrel go green with jealousy, she took her spot in a tree close by the flame-haired girl, and watched.

Semhaina huffed when the other ran off without a word. How rude! Didn't she know that it was impolite to not answer someone when they spoke directly to you?

Then she noted her reaction, which was far too involved, and shook her fiery tresses. She could not allow herself to be curious, or get involved with anyone or anything. It just hurt too much.

Not for the first time she inwardly cursed her powers, and with a heavy-hearted sigh, she continued on her solitary walk towards the forest's heart. Never noticing her surroundings or the mischievious little imp who was trailing her again.

Pade had a thing about noticing how people feel. She had never known why was she aware of the inner workings of others, only that if anything was her power, that was it. She could see this somewhat cold and pompous little girl was actually somehow broken and hurting inside, and did not really, intentionally, wish to harm her. Hopping from tree branches to the next, she climbed ahead of the girl, and waited for the right moment. Clearly she didn't like suprises, but pleasant suprises are always good for people, and she seemed to need some joy in her existence.

Carefully she placed her legs between some sturdy branches, observing the approach of the girl every few seconds. Almost, almost... not yet, wait for it..! And when the thoughtful girl was almost beneath her, Pade swung her body down in a manner which made her hang upside down right infront of the girl's face. "I like being called Pade! Pee-aah-dee-ee. You?" she asked while slightly swinging back and forth, wearing her most disarming smile.

Her intial reaction to the shock of the other lore just dropping in front of her from a tree was to clasp one hand over her heart as though to force it to slow down and not beat out of her chest with one hand and to reach out with her other, her dark shadowy power surrounding her hand, eager to leech the lifeforce from whatever she touched. With a slight gasp, Semhaina pulled her hand back in, struggling to send her power away when it was unsatisfied.

Succeeding with her task, after expending much of her own energy, Semhaina recognised the 'lore who had surprised her and rudely disappeared. So she seemed to be rather harmless, at least physically. Her penchant for being mischievous and playing tricks and popping out a people unexpectedly, was another story altogether. Then she realsied what the other had said.

"Pade, huh? Well my name is Semhaina." She kept her voice somewhat distant- please don't stay, don't try to get close- while part of her yearned to make friends, if only to ease her loneliness slightly. If only for a short period of time.

Pade's smile grew slightly smaller with the appearence of what seemed to her as black magic in the hand of the girl, and she was truly grateful seeing the other fighting back the urge to hurt her. She doesn't control it... That must cause trouble. Poor thing. While she calmed her powers with great effort, Pade turned herself around, and dropped feet first elegantly as a falling cat infront of the girl, who presently identified herself as Semhaina. With a significantly cold tone of voice.

Pade smiled widely again. She was certain that Semhaina wanted her to go away, but not because she hated Pade, but because she hated the idea of hurting her. It was not in Pade's nature to discard kindness, no matter how queer in form.

Gently she poked Semhaina's noise and exclaimed: "Sem-chan!" She topped the new name off with a playful giggle.
