From my local gun club's newsletter:

Quote:
FIREARMS FREEDOM ACT PASSES (HB 2307)

Arizona became the sixth state in the Union to enact the Firearms Freedom Act, a law designed to test and curtail federal powers that some experts say are growing without effective limits. Under the new law, originally drafted and enacted in Montana, firearms manufactured exclusively in Arizona and which do not leave the state are not subject to federal regulatory control.
I'm buying a ******** silencer. AWC is LOCAL.

And up on the docket soon:
Quote:
3. The Biggest Gun Law of the year has not passed yet. That is the AZ Constitutional Carry (HB 2347). It has one finally reading and a vote in the house before it goes to the Govnernor for signing.

This law will allow you to carry a handgun concealed without a permit on your person or in your vehichle.

You will still need a Concealed Carry Permit to carry where a permit is required. EX. establishments that serve alchol, national parks and traveling to other states that require a permit.

The new system will require individuals wishing to get a permit to take an approved firearms safety course such as an NRA Basic Handgun course or NRA Personal Protection course from an approved Certified Instructor.

If this bill becomes law and you are carrying a concealed weapon, you will be required to tell police officers if you are stopped for any reason.
So yeah, that's pretty cool too.

Excuse the shortpost, but I'm halfway out the door for work.

Tennessee had ours before you. And it turns out...

FED WILL STILL PROSECUTE AND ******** YOU REGARDLESS. They don't give a flying ******** about any state firearms freedom laws, the BATFE will still prosecute for the unlicensed commercial manufacture of guns and violations of the NFA.

Not to mention the FFA probably has a clause stating that it does not apply to NFA items anyway.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. The BATFE government really needs to pull their heads out of their asses and realize that not everyone who buys a ******** assault rifle plans on re-enacting Columbine or some s**t like that.

State and local cops can't touch you though, so the BATFE/FBI would have to personally catch you in order to know about it.

In other news, the Ruger LCP is manufactured in Prescott. Remember you were saying the Holdster wasn't as cool as the AOW version? Guess what.

Just found this in the evening review of news sites.

Pity it costs as much to live in Arizona as California these days. Maybe we can convince the Idaho legislators to act this boldly!

AZ Constitutional Carry was signed into law and will take effect 90 days after this legislative session ends. Arizona will still maintain the permitting system.
You will still need a permit to carry concealed where a permit is required. Such as:
1. In establishments that serve alcohol for consumption
2. In school zones
3. National parks
4. Traveling to other states

The new law makes it legal to carry a firearm concealed in your vehicle and on you person. You still must be of legal age to possess a firearm, have no felony conviction or citations for domestic violence, a US citizen or legal resident alien and do not suffer from mental illness.
No idea when the legislative session ends, but ******** yeah, seaking.

Also, since when can you carry in a school zone regardless?

It's stupid that people still think gun-free zones actually work. I may or may not be in one, and I've got those two revolvers in the safe (both of which need to see a gunsmith for different reasons).

I've been following Arizona in the news passively since I first heard of the "controversial" immigration bill. Massachusetts decided that Arizona's business is our business for some ungodly reason, but I fully support Arizona's recent choices, especially this new law.

I think the only thing that would make me any happier politically would be to see Arizona threaten secession, but perhaps that's a bit much to expect.

Hopefully Arizona wins the upcoming lawsuit against Obama and his lackeys and puts a notch in the belt of State's rights.

Not yet, I just finished my junior year of high school, and I didn't do too well, so I need to go to a local community college first.

I can understand that very well. A good part of my family is in New Hampshire, and eventually we may follow, but I can't help being a New England man, y'know? But I am not Kennedy follower, and I was glad when I saw the great Ted Kennedy replaced with a Republican (not what I wanted, but better than Martha Coakley).

Meanwhile, how are the folks of Arizona taking the idea of a federal lawsuit over a 17-page law designed to protect the rights of the citizens? I'm very curious as to the political climate down there at the moment.
