i read the whole series and i have to agree htat the writer must have been high in some why or form smile but it was awesome and funny.

Been an Azumanga Daioh fan for a long time but I certainly wouldn't think of it as a sugar rush.
I have a list of sugar-rush-esque anime:
Moe-tan (don't watch it but seen the basic character design)
Ojamajo Doremi
Lucky Star
Shugo Chara
Tokyo Mew Mew

My friend reads it and shows me parts sometimes.

Yeah, as far as the anime goes, I can't really see it as being inspired by a rush. I definitely don't get that impression from watching "One Spring Night" or "Koyomi's Ordeals", which are two of my favorite episodes.
