That's right, I announced this on the Monster Sunday announcement if you haven't read it already.
Here is the official news link: http://www.gaganews.com/2010/04/05/lady-gaga-is-not-axing-alejandro/
So "Alejandro" is the official third single from "The Fame Monster" album.
GaGa's twitter response was: "Alejandro is on the radio, ******** it sounds so good we did it little monsters"
As it says in the article, the official single will be released April 20th.
So what is your take on this? Personally, I find Alejandro to be a much deeper song then Telephone which to me, didn't really have much to it as opposed to her other songs on her second album. Still catchy as hell though. :3
So anyway, Alejandro is a very interesting song.
Here are some people's take on it:
1. "The song is about how she sees love based on a man's wallet (she hides true love en su bolsillo [Bolsillo is pocket in Spanish, which plays a large part in the song]). She then wraps men around her finger with her innocent act (She's got a halo round her finger, around you). According to her Wiki page, the song also represents GaGa's fear of commitment to the point where she cannot even remember the name of her lover (exemplified in the multiple changing of names; "Alejandro," "Fernando," "Roberto"). Additionally, the line "Mexico, rejoice!" ties into the whole "What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico" theme that is ever-popular among Spring-Breakers in Cancun. So, basically, the song is about being promiscuous and garnering as much money as possible, then realizing how wrong it is: "I know that we are young, and I know that you may love me; but I just can't be with you like this anymore...Alejandro." By that time, however, "Alejandro" is already in love with the speaker as he calls her name and addresses her as "babe." Unfortunately for him, he has no idea that she never felt anything more for him than lust and financial assistance." ~~~ 2. She's in love with a man, who's in love with another man, but she's leaving them and their screwed up ways behind. She doesn't want to be controlled by her emotions for Alejandro. She doesn't want Alejandro who wants Fernando, who reminds her of Roberto (her ex before Alejandro).
"Either that, or her current boyfriend (Alejandro) reminds her of her ex, Fernando. So, she's leaving the memories (current and old, Alejandro and Fernando) behind. As for Roberto? Who the ******** is he, and where does he come in?"
~~~ 3. "This song reminds me a lot of the movie Vicky Christina Barcelona.
The mentioning of all the Spanish names brings to mind for me the idea of numerous passionate love affairs, that may or may not have mixed together at some points, but nonetheless passionate and a new experience for her.
"But her boyfriend's like her dad, just like a dad."
In her passionate escapades, she clearly has become close to these people. They're like family to her, and this has become a place of comfort for her, but, like a baby, she desires to experience and learn more, thus, she must leave her current situation, despite the fact that she loves them.
The fact that she "has to choose," clearly shows that her current situation of being in love and comfortable is NOT and option. She doesn't know what she wants, she only knows that this isn't it."
The song was awesome- *listening to it now* xD -the video was odd, though...
I thought from what I read on Wikipedia and from seeing the video, I thought the song was about trying to forget about her deceased lover. I guess there are more meanings to it. *shrugs*
I guess there are more meanings to it. *shrugs* Her songs and videos are usually different.. Like in "Bad Romance" the song it means that your dying for someones love or something while the video was sort of a mini movie of her being drugged and being sold to a Russian Mafia.. 3nodding
And for "Alejandro" the song is the fear of relationships I believe and leaving and forgetting about your past lovers while the video is the celebration of gays..
