The terrian was rugged, the peaks of the mountains reaching towards the clouds and ever higher, but with the pressure not many ventured too far up.
snakes slithered there way about their holes while, bunnies guiding their young to their homes for safety. With the lack of humans walking about animals lived in freely with nature, even if other animals did kill them.

Every so often Dark gazed back to see the demon follow him. Unlike most demons - outsiders, rather- Dark had no real suspicion for Inukai, but it made him wonder how such a demon would have kept itself alive. Either if it was against humans or demons it didn't look like it could hold its own against strong ones. Not that he was underestimating the creature. It had a guild build, and its claws were such as lethal, if not more, than his own blade. So he had to ask.. "So, Inukai? Have you ever harmed a human?" He knew the answer if he asked if it was a demon. After all, even if Inukai was hesitant, he did behead the imp back in his home village.

As Inukai flew after Dark he was keeping himself focused on ideas of what he could look like as a human, so he didn't notice Dark's occasional glances. The demon was getting a good idea of what he wanted, but there was still the task of getting the form right and keeping it for long periods of time. Dark's question brought Inukai out of his little world, he mentally frowned but it wasn't the worst question he could have asked. '..yes...but only when humans had attacked this one...and only enough to keep them from following this one..' Inukai didn't want to kill humans in general.. that kind of 'sleep' didn't make any dreams for the demon to eat. Years ago he also found that he didn't really like meat too much either, now and then it was alright, but he preferred fruits for regular food.

"I see. You know, back in my village when you killed the Imp I didn't see you drink it's blood or even devour any limb. Now it isn't so uncommon for a demon to not eat demon, but you said that you don't harm humans unless you have to. But can I also assume you don't eat them?" He asked, stopping his flight and making a sharp turn to stare down at the demon while he slowly glided backwards. "You are a demon, and every sort of being needs a food source. Now there are some who don't eat meat, but I have a heavy questioning when I think that you don't eat meat. So you're saying that you don't feast on humans?" He's been with Inukai for about half a day now. It may not be long but the demon had not eaten yet. Demons had a high appetite, and though this demon didn't seem to show many signs of weakness he could only assume that it could be getting hungry. He was hungry..but how about Inukai? When was it's last meal? Was it perhaps leading him in a false sense of security and strike at him within the right moment? "Well, Inukai.."

Inukai was slightly uneasy at the questioning, and banked a little when he suddenly stopped, slowing down as Dark did. '..this one has bitten a human long ago and didn't like the taste..same with other demons...this one likes fruits and maybe boar or deer occasionally..' he answered truthfully, for some reason lesser animals tasted alright.. Dark had asked if he feasted on humans and honestly he didn't..he fed off the dreams, which didn't actually harm the people. Inukai staying in his true form was actually a sign of weakness since shifting into and staying in his smaller form required energy, just a little, but after how many days it did take it's toll. He could live and stay fit with regular food, but dreams refreshed his energy so he could shift.

"And you're saying that that's enough for you?" Dark continued. If he was going to let Inukai stay with him, or even anyone else he would interrogate the demon until it confessed all truths, or until it broke and attacked him for fear that it had been found. Dark began to sail around the demon, trying what he could to pressure the demon. His eyes were cold, alert, probably the same as others had given Inukai. Trust was a fragile thing, especially for demons.. After a while Dark closed in the demon, but continued to circle around it as they both hovered over the mountains.

Inukai cringed as Dark had switched from curiosity to interrogation, he faltered in the air a little from both Dark's actions and their current speed. '..this one really doesn't mean harm toward humans..' he said in what almost sounded like a meek tone. From what he'd heard Dark was sort of in charge of the Sanctum's safety so it was his job to be suspicious, especially of demons, but that still didn't ease the feeling he got when people gave him those cold stares. Inukai had liked being around Dark and also Dawn in the brief time they'd met, he wanted to be able to be around others more and he wouldn't be able to if Dark didn't approve. Inukai made a sort of whine similar to a dog, '....this one..does need something else...' he started admitting slowly, '..this one feeds on dreams, it doesn't hurt humans..Inukai swears....'

Dark continued his movement, bit by bit closing in the avian demon. He was able to pick the the weakness and fragility in the demon's tone. It was true..even demon's could be hurt. Maybe not all but some. He continued to hear the demon out, and his hand was inches away from its head when it spoke of another source of food. It caused him to pause his hand in the air, and he stared the Inukai for a while before putting his hand between its ears to give it a gentle pet. "So you eat dreams?" Dark asked, keeping his tone hard, with a mixture of friendly mannerisms.

Inukai started to get a little nervous as Dark circled closer, wondering if he should flee..but he waited..Dark did give the Drow creature a chance and that person had caused trouble in town.. The demon hoped that Dark would maybe give him a chance too, though nobody really ever did once they found out about him. As Dark's hand hovered near his head the demon seriously considered just dropping from the sky and making a run for it, but before he made up his mind Dark just pet him. '...yes...dreams give power and let this one shift forms...' he answered, still nervous.

He ran his hand through Inukai's mane, trying to sooth the creature down now. He must have gave him quite a fright, more than he had wanted. Oh well.. "That's..a little disturbing.." He muttered, affectionately rubbing the demon's head as if it were a pet. To him..lately, that's all it felt like. "Alright. Come on, relax.." He cooed, ruffling the mane up a little. "You ready to try to shift?"

Inukai did start to calm down bit as Dark rubbed his head and ruffled his mane, sort of not able to believe that Dark was still accepting him after that..or just not used to getting accepted be a person in general after learning of the demon's diet. He snorted lightly, his version of taking a deep breath to calm down more. When Dark asked if he was ready to try to shift, the same mist that formed when he revealed his real form came again, but for a shorter time... and instead of a regular person Inukai looked like a black furred person with too long of arms, a tail, long silver hair, and his real wings and ears.. thankfully it didn't last long and he reverted back to his real form. '....sorry...this one is...emotional..'

Once the mist came Dark pulled away, allowing whatever it was that was happening to take affect. Without so much a look of awe, surprise Dark watched as the mist cleared and swept away. If that was the best Inukai could do then you would be no different from an anthro being, looking like an animal but with human-like characteristics. For whatever reason the demon switched back to its original form, and explained. "Oh..so you couldn't keep stable, or couldn't concentrate enough?" Now he was a bit puzzled. Lack of sleep..he'd been up for about two days now. It was still early in the afternoon. He needed to sleep..but..he didn't really want to dream now. His dreams were of his own, be they nightmare or not. Sometimes it was better than simple blackness.. But his mind came back to Inukai. Like anything else it needed food, and dreams were probably its main source. It did say it would eat produce but..that was probably just like snacks. Inukai's human meat would be dreams. "....." He closed his eyes, and turned. Whatever dream came..he would offer it. He did need sleep.. "Come on. You'll eat my dream.." He muttered, slowly swerving into the mountains and into the empty field of where his village should be. Only in the daytime..nothing but bumps and rocks. Not even the charred ground was in view. He stepped off his board and gently leaned onto a mountain wall. It wasn't the most comfortable, with sharp corners and rocks pressing against his back, but it wasn't too bad. It wouldn't kill him.

'..couldn't concentrate...' Inukai said as he watched Dark curiously, the person seemed to be thinking about something. As Dark turned and offered his dream it surprised the demon, Dark had seemed slightly repulsed at the thought not long before.. Inukai followed Dark and landed not far too from him, once Dark was settled the demon laid down and let his head rest near Dark's knee. He guessed Dark was still unsure of exactly what getting his dream eaten was like, but Inukai planned on casting a small pleasant illusion to replace the dream. It wouldn't be difficult to trick a slumbering mind so it would take very little energy. The dreams of adults were usually more vivid then a child's dream, so a dream from Dark would keep him satisfied for a few days at least.

He let out a heavy sigh as his body went through the process of relaxation. Unconsciously his hand went to reach and scratch the base the demon's head. "How do you eat one's dream?" He asked, gazing at the few clouds that were moving through the sky. There were more than there was in the morning, as per usual. Some darker ones were moving over Sanctum, and the wind was picking up as well. The smell of moisture followed; fresh, cool..it felt really nice. The forecast was most likely right. The calming breeze caused his eyes to fall to their halves, and his fingers were now slowly idling through the demon's mane. Now that he was relaxed the fatigue was settling in, and he was growing rather lazy.

As Dark pet his his head then mane, Inukai started making a low humming sound that was quite calming. His ears twitched slightly at Dark's question, '...how..? ..hmm..when a person falls asleep..this one can feel it and connect out minds..then this one absorbs the dream..' Inukai wondered if that was a good description..he'd never had to explain it before and he never really thought about it, it was just something he did naturally. His wings shifted and covered his legs like a blanket as he continued humming what started to sound like a lullaby.
