User ImageCaineach dipped his head and drank from the water hole carefully, he knew where he was and he knew if he was found he'd be chased off but there were so few places to find water. But some things were worth the herds wrath. He muttered to himself as he drank. The unfairness of it all had driven him half mad long ago. "...stupid water hole...if any of you had seen her...and then the plague...if killed you all...it killed the dove...it killed the bunny...why shame me...shame me...shame me...shame me...oh but she was beautiful...stupid water hole...tasty water...wish i could get that grass over the hill...too dangerous...they'd chase me off in an instant...sweet grass.." Cain finished drinking and quickly hightailed it away from the hole with a fidgeting and nervous gait. He'd prefer to be out of site before the rest came to drink. He knew they would. There were very few places to drink anymore. And then he'd watch them, remember, curse them silently and wish.

He'd managed to get a ways away and headed to his favorite hiding place in a thicket. He did know why he must watch the herd. He only knew he must. As he waited for them to show he turned inward to his own thoughts.

...if only he'd never met her. The dove. The beautiful rogue. She'd enchanted him. She was a witch he was sure of it at this point...and yet. But no..or maybe. But it didn't matter. She was dead now. Like the rest...but he was still banished. Oh if she had just joined the herd...but she wouldn't...had said they'd never accept her. But he had accepted her. Loved her even. His secret lover across the herd boarder. Hidden and his only. He'd found time to see her. Love her. The foal had be a surprise A deadly surprise. The foal had got him banished. But then the plague had come. The death. And his dove and his little bonny foal had died along with the others. But he yet lived, and yet was still banished. Oh the unfairness of it...

He jerked back to the world of the living when he caught the herd out of the corner of his eye. Time to watch. Time to be quiet.

Keelin was pretty sure she wasn't supposed to be this far out near the herd's boarders - but well she'd always been a bit of a risk-taker and was eager to prove herself capable of being responsible.

Of course she hadn't anticipated running into him - the fallen stallion. The other foals whispered stories about how he was evil - or had committed some terrible crime for which he'd been exiled. Looking at the chestnut however with hi silent watchful - amost fearful expression as he observed the distant herd, well she had a hard time seeing him as 'evil' and ever the brave sort she spoke up "What ar you looking at?"

Ah, she had done it now! Now for sure Maponus and Shylah would punt her out of the herd, not able to take either her mopeyness of lack of spirit, but worse for her lack of foal-handling skills. There were four right in front of her, yes! There was four. And then one daze later, three! Three! Her eyes nearly rolled back with the fright she had as she had grabbed the nearest horse to watch over the remaining three and then galloped practically.

It was a sin for her, speaking. the more she spoke, surely the more likely she might let something evil out. Evil like the plague that had nearly killed her, that she was paranoid to this day remained within her still. But it was impossible to locate a wandering foal without some form of communication, and thus Bree began to neigh loudly; it grew worse when she realized she was outside of the border with no sign of the little one.

Oh gods, she was done for!

Cain quite nearly jumped out of his skin when he was addressed from behind by the young filly. Beautiful little creature. He thought to himself, despite the fact that she clearly belonged to Maponus and Shylah. Her coloring could come from no other. He backed into the thicket and tried to hide from her. "Go." He stuttered out through chattering teeth. "If you don't reveal me I'll just leave." His nerves made his skin dance and shiver and he tried desperately not to come to pieces in front of her. "Hurry. Before mommy finds both of us and punishes us." She shivered more at the thought and fought the urge to bolt before she'd gone.

'Evil' was the last word she'd use to describe this shaking beast Keelin thought to herself as he backed further into the bushes, she wondered if he knew his shaking was making the bush quiver as well, sure she understood that he was in trouble with the herd for something...had been before she was even born but Keelin didn't know what he had done and she couldn't quite grasp anyone being frightened of her mother. Her father maybe...Map was a strong horse, thats why he was gifted the bear pelt...but her mom?

She snorted at the stallion "Mom will just fuss a bit about me being so 'far' from the herd" She told him, I mean it wasn't like he'd hurt her or anything right? "Why are you hiding? There's no one here!" She demanded turning to look behind her - but no Bree had yet to track her down and they were in fact quite alone for the moment - though no doubt the mare would come along shortly.

He snorted his agitation at her for not following his very kindly requested order. It was after all, best for both of them. His ears pinned down to his head and his eyes rolled side to side in a frantically searching half crazy motion. "Little one. Perhaps you misunderstand me. Your punishment will be far less than mine. Your father is likely to hoof flesh off me if I'm caught. I am well within herd lands. Your home, not mine. You're too young to understand perhaps understand the meaning of the word banished." The last word slipped off his tongue like a hushed whisper and his eyes went far off and cloudy for a moment before snapping back to look at her fully clear. Quite suddenly his entire posture changed, the shivering stopped, his ears came to be fully erect, his neck straightened, he appeared taller and even his tail came up in a proud arc. His voice was subtle as silk and cool as spring water when he next spoke, a great change from the frightened twitchy and slightly high voice from before. "If there are things you don't understand, little one, perhaps you should not try to change them...yet. You have all the promise needed to change the very fabric of that herd. You just need some learning and some growing" Then his eyes clouded again old posture returned, twitches and all. "I must go." He screeched in a hoarse whisper. "Please let me."

Kee took a half step back when the stallion pinned his ears at her, she wasn't afraid really but she wasn't stupid either and she and her siblings had certainly been at the end of many an irritated look during their first few months of life. It was always good to put a bit of distance between one's self and whomever was irritated at you, just in case those irate looks turned into more of a reprimand.

But it didn't seem like he was going to do anything to her, he just talked some more, and the more he said unfortunately for him the more interesting he became. Banished of course was the big boogey man used to threaten foals and keep them in line, but she didn't really understand exactly what it meant and while of course there were the aforementioned stories of the big bad stallion whom had been banished...well here she was meeting him! It was like meeting a legend...a legend of a horror story but really Keelin didn't seem to track that difference quite so much as she should. And he kept trying to leave...how irritating was that? Here she was on the verge of possibly the greatest adventure story ever and he kept wanting to run off on her.

Stubbornly she stamped her foreleg on the ground, which might seem a bit childish until you recalled that she was indeed a child. "No one is coming" She told him irritably..well Bree would eventually but surely they had some time yet, Bree would probably just find a spot to weep somewhere anyways. The grey mare had some issues was all she as saying, but not as many as this stallion seemed to have and he looked ever so pretty when he wasn't cowering in fear! Though his speech then made her chew on her lip a bit as she tried to roll it about in her mind but then he went back to being scared and because she wanted him to stay and talk to her more she blurted out the first question that came to her mind "Why were you banished?"

Ask him questions at a moment like this? Why it was unthinkable. She most have more of her parents than she thought she did, the arrogance and stubborn streak. Again his ears swung back to pin to his head and he showed his teeth to her. "Someone will come for you. I assure that. Those pretty little spots on your behind are too valuable, pity you haven't figured that out yet." He charged her then, the half crazedness back in control, and stomped his feet down in a dead stop just in front of her, puffing up dust. "I am not a toy little one, you will move and let me leave or i will bite those spots off. I don't wish to be injured and you shouldn't either."
