If I were a ninja...Hmmm, I would give new legends to their mystery, like:
"He just vanished into the cherry blossoms!"
Or for giggles:
"What do you mean you lost him?"
"Well he said look at that and I did...Then he was gone."

I like the hiding in the shadows bit though.
