Their sacking of Rome is one of the most famous events in history and pretty much cemented Rome's fall. They also had a very interesting alphabet hat was designed of angles and straight lines so it could be easily carved into wood. 3nodding

I'M A VIKING! AND I'VE COME TO TAKE YOUR LAND AND I'VE COME TO TAKE YOUR LAND. biggrin
My apologies, I don't really have any funfacts about the ancient goths, but I will say that I can't help but feel a little sorry for Rome, what with most of their knowledge being lost for centuries.

Soryiu The Goth "fashion" style originating in the 70's got it's title wrong as it mimics Victorian and renaissance era clothing not the heavy leather and fur of the Goths. The more recent additions to this movement are entirely unique and are given the moniker of "goth" out of ignorance. I wouldn't say it was given out of ignorance, I would say it was an evolution of the word which has grown to have its own meaning, which in turn has lead to this style that may have originated from maybe a mistake but has lead to a wholey successful style of fashion and subgroup of people who now embrace it as this, and so takes its roots in the new foundation of the word and meaning.

The Visigoths. I was kind of wondering if this topic would've come up during my absence. And the alphabet you referred to is Ogham, a traditionally Norse alphabet supposed to have been granted the Norsemen by dargons, which carved the alphabet into the base of a tree. Nowadays, it's typically used as one of the far-numerous 'magical' alphabets of modern occultism, much like Theban script or runes. I used to know how to write in all three of these, but these days, I only remember this old military code that isn't used anymore, since it was cracked. Y'know, and English. I'm a fan of English.
