It was late. It was specifically that time of night where mother's made their children stay inside and sleep. Teenagers were too afraid to wander out without a guardian and adults were weary of being pick-pocketed by sketchy strangers. Cassius loved this time of the night. The city was awake with all kinds of activities. The city was so alive and most would never even know it.

He had just finished up a round of cards with a familiar crew of men when he made his way to the sidewalk and decided to go for a light walk. He was drinking out of a flask in his pocket and fiddling with the money he had just won. The cash was heavy in his pocket and it felt wonderful per usual. He contemplated finding a new game somewhere, but for right now he was enjoying watching all of the characters that were walking by him.

It was the first warm night in awhile and it seemed like every scoundrel of the town was out looking for trouble. He found himself nodding and smiling at people that looked familiar and glaring at some others. It was always such a thrill to live in a city like this. As long as he was confident, people left him alone. It was the vulnerable people that got eaten alive at this time of night.

Cassius couldn't see himself being anywhere else at the moment. He took another sip out of his flask and continued walking along the quiet streets.

Late? She'd beg to argue. As she saw it, the day was still young.

"More then enough time for a party." She grinned to herself, walking the dark streets of Destiny City with confidence and ease. Despite the fact that various criminals lurked about- stalkers, rapists, gangs, thugs, thieves, and god knows what else; Varete continued along as if she was oblivious to the surroundings around her.

Which she was.

Impatiently checking her watch, she quickened her stride. "I'm going to be so late." She muttered to herself, as she marched forward in her boots. Luckily for her, the night was warm- warm enough for her not to freeze in that skimpy white top, and tight black skinny jeans she was wearing. Not that it mattered. The club she was attending was guaranteed to be crowded; enough warmth if not more for everyone there.

Peering down at her watch, she paid no attention the sidewalk before her. And by sidewalk, people included. Feeling a hard shoulder bump into her's, she nearly snapped the man's head off in irritation.

"Watch where you're going, will yo-?!" Her voice trailed off, as she gaped at the man before her.

Could it be..? That long blonde hair, and cocky-a** grin of his.. Oh god, it was! "Cassius!" She cried, as she threw herself in his arms to envelop him a tight hug.

It wasn't unusual for a girl to yell his name and jump into his arms. If anything, Cassius was always relieved when this was the case. Sometimes it would be the opposite with someone slapping him or punching him. So, when the familiar blonde head went under his chin, Cassius knew exactly who this sexy lady was. "Been awhile, Varete darling." He wasn't surprised to see her in such a place. Especially looking so snazzy.

"From the looks of your outfit, you're going to dance?" Cassius on the other hand was looking comfortable and suave in a grey collared shirt with sleek black pants. Although he had some style to his outfit, he wore darker things so that he would blend in. Standing out was never a good idea when you were a guy.

"Where have you been all my life? I've missed you." His eyes slanted as he watched her gently. It was normal for Cassius to be so dramatic. "I don't like the idea of you walking around here in that outfit." Since every single man who walked by them currently was drooling out of their eyes. He knew Varete could handle herself, but Cassius was still worried. That was also a normal occurrence for him as well.

"Here, I'll walk with you."He had no real destination in mind, so keeping her company sounded like a good plan. "I want to hear what my favorite blonde has been up to these days." Varete was always someone he was happy to see. There were some girls that he hid from, but that was never the case with her. Because Varete's personality was so similar to his, he found it unbelievably easy to talk to her. That was such a rare thing for him.

"So, is it really worth it to have guys slobber on you at the club?" he chuckled lightly as he spoke. He enjoyed the club once in awhile, but knew girls fled there quite often for the 'scene'.

"Definitely." Varete agreed, as she took a step back to admire the man before her.

It had been awhile. She couldn't remember when she had saw Cassius last, but if there was one thing she was certain of- It had been far too long. Taking his hand in her's, she pulled him along the empty street towards the direction of the club.

From the looks of your outfit, you're going to dance? Cassius knew her well. "Of course."

She savored the feel of his hand within her's, comforted by the familiar grip. Though Varete had many 'friends', there was only a few whom she genuinely trusted, and knew her for who she was; not the act that she usually presented. They were more then friends, but their relationships was not quite that of lovers. A comfortable mix in between the two.

Grinning at his protests, "Well, I have you here now, don't I?" She replied, with a smile as she rested her head on his arm. Though she doubted her answer would ease his worries, she refrained from tell him the truth. That she could easily handle herself, with the help of her other self.

"And yes." She answered. "Unless you're jealous?" She questioned, with a mischievous tilt of her head.

Varete was probably well aware that Cassius wasn't the jealous type. He only chuckled as he held her close while walking along the busy street. Even though he and Varete had history, it wasn't a baggage-filled one. Everything they did together involved a free spirited mentality so he loved having her around. He wasn't used to that with most females. She was always refreshing.

"I'm just looking out for you, that's all." Every girl seemed to have a similar outfit on, although Varete's actually looked good compared to many. That sort of thing made her a dangerous target but Cassius knew she liked it that way.

"I know you prefer being in the spotlight, so I won't stop you." He rubbed her arm gently while glancing down towards her eyes. "Dance as much as you like." He'd seen her at the clubs before. She was very talented in her movements. People seemed to follow her lead. Girls would be jealous. Guys would follow her around..

He didn't mind bars or clubs, he just hated how crowded most of them got. He usually observed while everyone else raged. Maybe that made him boring- he wasn't sure. "So, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy? I wish I was involved."

In reply to her question, Cassius only chuckled, Jealousy didn't become Cassius, and she knew that as well as he did.

With a teasing grin, she dismissed the subject with a careless wave of her fingers. Through she was quick to move on from one subject to the next, she was content to walk in a few minutes of silence. Caught in the familiar grip of his arms, Varete allowed herself to relax in his embrace. Though they were in one of the more dangerous parts of the town, Cassius never hesitated to put her safety first. In reply to his kind words, Varete wove her fingers through his in a warm grasp.

Though a "thank you" would have sufficed, their relationship went beyond words.

As they continued walk along the street, they both fell into a easy rhythm together. In the midst of a silent debate between the club and Cassius, dancing didn't seem nearly as important as it did ten minutes ago. Cassius knew her well, she did adore the attention. But in comparison with him.. the attention of complete strangers was nothing.

"Oh. Parties here and there. Not much, actually." She said, in answer to his question while offering him a warm smile. She disliked hiding things from Cassius, but she couldn't reveal to him the truth. "Oh, I'm a part of a mafia organization in a plot of world domination" wasn't things one could simply reveal in a conversation. Instead, she chose to move on to a different topic.

"So, Cassius.." She diverted from the topic, "What's going on with you..?"

Quickly falling back into their own relationship, Cassius and Varete walked on, immersed within another, as if nothing else in the world mattered.
