Alex was born and raised all over Kanto as her mother's work took her all over the region. She had a fairly normal childhood, dreamed of pokemon, went to school and made friends. Her mother was a pokemon healer that specialized in really tough cases. Hence, why they moved all over the place. When Alex was old enough to go to university she did. Fascinated with pokemon evolution, Alex quickly specialized in evolution research. With her freshmen years under her belt she moved to Katarina's research facility to continue with a more, 'hands on' curriculum. However, with some rather radical theories on evolution, eevee's in particular, Alex hasn't advanced very far at the research institute in Katarina.
When she heard of the eevee swarm in Mosserossa, she immediately set off without a second thought. She was one of the few who helped rescue the injured man off the cliff, and her suspicions about the whole trip rose. Just after this event she caught her first pokemon. An electrike she named Blitz. Her earlier fears were justified however, when after she arrived at Motterossa and set out to look for eevee she was captured by Team Rocket.
After escaping into the forest with the others, she managed to get some rest and afterwards play and bathe in the lake. After her brief moment to herself, she dressed in a Team rocket uniform she had stolen, as the plan at the moment was to sneak back into the base. Unfortunately, Team Rocket attacked the clearing. Blitz and her fought with the others to try and drive team rocket back.
When the lucario attacked is when things went all wrong for her. A stray aura sphere hit her rented ponyta and she was thrown off. Directly into the blast of a missile. Her decision to wear a Rocket uniform likely saved her life. Rocket uniforms are somewhat fire resistant. However, the blast and subsequent landing left her badly injured. She bruised her ribs, sprained her left wrist and received a severe concussion. Her burns were the worst of it though. Third degree burns on the right side of her face and neck, and second degree burns everywhere else. Because of the burns, her right eye was destroyed and was removed, the hole covered over with her skin. She did mangage to find one cloned eevee still near the Rocket Base. An espeon named Nishi.
Weeks later, the skin was healed enough she could go home, she went to Kanto to her mother's house. However, she kept the bandages on far longer than required. Not out of embarrassment or shame, but because she couldn't stand the looks of pity everyone gave her. Because, a skin-graft and plastic surgery was far out of her, and her retired mother's budget, the two of them came up with the idea for a mask. A, not quite retired, friend of her mother's, surgically imbedded magnets into her cheek, forehead and jaw, to allow a mask, also with magnets, to "snap" onto her face, without any need to be tied on.
After her burns were healed and her magnetic mask was finished, Alex returned to Katrina's research institute, to continue her studies. She has however become fascinated with the idea of clones, and has been doing some independent research along those lines.
